A Relaxing Stay in Paradise

My husband and I just returned from an unforgettable stay in Hanalei Bay Resort. While the photos posted are accurate, they can't possible capture the gorgeous views from both rooms and the lanai of the ocean, Hanalei Bay, and the amazing mountains (including Bali Hai) that make the North Shore so special. Waking up in our comfy four-poster canopy bed every morning to that view and the sounds of the ocean and birds in the bird sanctuary below was exactly the relaxing experience we were hoping for. This condo definitely had one of the best views in the resort and made it difficult to ever want to leave the unit. The rest of the condo was beautifully decorated as well, and it was great to have our own kitchen for the week. The resort itself was beautifully landscaped, though there is a short walk uphill to the amenities and parking lot if you don't hail a golf cart ride. Our favorite parts of the resort were the salt water pool with waterfalls and the convenient access to the beach. Note that a fire in the onsite restaurant in July has closed it at least until 2012. It was an easy drive into Hanalei and the rest of the North Shore from the resort. Most memorably, the beach at Hanalei Bay was like a movie set and we loved grabbing a drink right up the road at the St. Regis while watching sunset over Bali Hai. Steve, the condo's owner, was extremely nice and professional throughout the process and we can't wait for another opportunity to stay at his beautiful place!

Aloha, I am sitting in your lovely condo. It has been absolutely amazing for us, as we have never seen anything like this island before. Obviosly things are extremely complicated with no car and an extremely limited budget, but we are remaining totally optimistic and making the best. If we had a car, we probably wouldn't have walked along the coast, trying to get to Hanaeli Bay--it was amazing to be near the ocean and all of tht lush vegetation hanging over it! We didn't try to cross the river at that time, but did for a return from the town after paying the cab fare to get over there. Umm . . . we shouldn't have carried a beach bag as the camera and cell phones got wet when the depth got over Brad's head and had to swim! What a memory. Anyhow, thank you for the last-minute arrangements. ... I'll be pleased to share a nice review of the facilities--and especially, your professionalism. Thanks for a life-long memory. ~ Julie :)

We had a wonderful time and the Condo was perfect. Excellent accomodations, service from everyone and we will visit again if we do not purchase our own Condo in Paradise. First time to Kauai and found that Hanalei Bay Resort was probably the best place to stay in North Kauai based on location, price, quality, and quiet. We rented unit 8231 (hotel room unit) - the room was nicely decorated, clean. The bed was VERY comfortable and air conditioning worked very well. The only minor flaw is that the microwave and coffee pot are in the closet and its a bit cumbersome making coffee in the morning. I'm sure if we booked the larger unit (8232) we would have been fine. We could see the bay and Bali Hai from the balcony although we were not able to see it all - trees etc. ... HB is not ocean front. The view of the foothills of the Napali Coast were pretty. It was very relaxing to enjoy our morning coffee there and plan our excursions. (Oh, and laugh at the cock-a-doodle-dos.) The pools (yes there are 2) are nice. The main pool was nicely maintained and nice with the waterfall. Resort staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. ... Also, be prepared to 1) walk to your car, it's a bit of a hike -or- 2) call the front desk for pick up / return (tips are appreciated even tho it's a short ride). The resort maximizes the good views instead of putting a parking lot on primo location and that's great. I would rent from this owner again - he was responsive and helpful. Enjoy !

My Husband and I stayed at this property Feb. 1, 2011, for a few nights. We really enjoyed the property. It was well-appointed and clean. We stayed in the "hotel room" type unit. Nothing was overlooked in this unit! All we needed to enjoy our vacation was available to us, including beach chairs and beach towels to enjoy on the beach. Steve was a pleasure to work with and we are looking forward to staying at his other properties.
