Location: St. Saturnin-Les-Apt, Luberon Area, Provence, France, Europe (This village is in the Luberon National Park!)
Accommodations: Gite, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2)
Adjoining our own newly built home and set in a former olive Grove and fruit orchard, Les Oliviers sleeps two adults, enjoys a peaceful setting with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside and Luberon hills. We are on hand to welcome you and offer any information you require to enhance your holiday.
We often looked for a holiday that would provide quality self catering accommodation with the use of a swimming pool, whilst having our own privacy and perhaps the opportunity to meet fellow travelers to share the odd story with over a glass of wine. An easy brief but we found it so hard to find! Therefore we decided to create it ourselves, within walking distance of one of the most authentic villages in the Luberon.
The Gite has ancient Provencal roof tiles, traditional wooden windows and shutters and beamed vaulted ceilings whilst offering all home comforts. There is a comfortable living room with sofa, table and chairs which is open plan to the kitchen fitted with electric oven, a gas hob, fridge, dishwasher and microwave. Naturally for breakfast we provide a coffee maker, kettle and toaster. If you really want to relax we can offer a traditional French breakfast served on your terrace.
The bedroom has a built in wardrobes, double bed with cool fresh sheets and luxurious en suite shower room with wc and wash hand basin. (All linen, towels including pool towels are provided). There is a flat screen TV which receives both French and English channels, and high speed internet access for your personal use.
French doors open onto a private covered terrace equipped with furniture and a barbeque for outdoor dining, and access to the garden areas and swimming pool.
For your added comfort the gite is cooled by an under floor refresher system which also provides heating in winter period and solar panels provide unlimited hot water. A washing machine is provided for your use, and there is plenty of space for parking.
Our home and gites are quietly tucked away, yet within a short walk of the village. Approached by a driveway of olive and cypress trees we have just over an acre of garden with fruit trees, a boules court, plenty of seating areas to relax and a superb heated infinity swimming pool (10 x 5m) with spacious sun bathing area, pool house and a view of the chateau. A second similar gite adjacent is also available.

We stayed at Karen & David's gite Les Oliviers for a week in August 2009 and loved every minute of it. First of all the region has a lot to offer. Settled in the hillside over the Luberon valley, the gite is a short walk from the village, where you can get delicious fresh croissants and excellent coffee in the morning. If you have everything you need for breakfast, the patio in front of the gite is the perfect spot to start the day in the sun, overlooking the valley and the very inviting saltwater swimming pool. The region offers everything you ever want from a holiday in the south of France with plenty of options for day trips and an abundance of local markets. Apt and the Saturday market is only 10 mins away, Rousillon, Gordes and the market at Le Coustelet 30 mins, Avignon, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, St-Remy and Les Baux-de-Provence only an hour and Aix-en-Provence a little more than that. And if you just fancy lazy-ing about and enjoying the sun and the pool, you'll be guaranteed a fantastic day. On top of all this, Karen and David are amazing hosts, regularly checking if their guests are happy, and keen to assist with anything you might need. More than once David went out of his way to help out and even lend us his computer to check emails and get some work done. A couple of times during our stay we enjoyed drinks at the pool house in the early evening, where we got to know Karen and David, and the other guests and swap stories over a glass of wine and some nibbles. Last but not least, the gite is compact, well designed and offers all the comfort you need. The kitchen is very well equipped with modern appliances (fridge, microwave, stove with built in oven, dishwasher), the living room has a flat screen tv, dvd player and ipod dock, as well as internet connection. Outside on the deck garden furniture and a BBQ are provided too. The house has been decorated very tastefully in a modern Provencal style, with everything brand new and exceptionally clean. The garden, pool and pool house were impeccably maintained and a pleasure to enjoy. This was a perfect holiday home for two people and a lovely romantic getaway. Unfortunately we cannot recommend any local restaurants. We enjoyed the fresh produce at the local markets so much, we would often eat at home on the deck watching the night fall over the valley… As you can see, Karen and David managed to create a piece of haven on earth. Our stay with them was just total bliss!

We stayed for a week at the end of August, and found the location, facilities, hosts and weather to be close to perfect. David and Karen are great hosts and very accommodating. The pool is a great tonic after a tough day in the sun. The surrounding areas are a snapshot of "The Real Provence" not the touristy pictures you've seen in the movies. We would happily return, if the cats would have us

Our two week stay at Les Cerisiers, St-Saturnin-Les-Apt, made a perfect holiday. We were already great fans of the beauty of Provence, & particularly the Luberon, so the setting of the gite, with its view of the hills, was a daily treat! The close proximity to the amenities of the village also made a morning stroll to the boulangerie or an evening meal at ‘l’Estrade’ too tempting to miss! The area has plenty to offer visitors, whether for energetic activities or for relaxed exploring of the vineyards & medieval villages etc. We found the accommodation tastefully furnished & immaculate, with every facility & attention to detail. We were a little uncertain at first regarding the lack of a door to the ensuite, but actually found this to be no problem at all, in fact, it added to the amusement of the holiday! We fully appreciated the cool flooring system to escape the heat of the day for a short while before returning to the lure of the infinity pool. Perhaps the most significant factor, however, to contribute to the enjoyment of our stay, were the owners themselves. David & Karen made us feel extremely welcome; they worked hard to ensure that all was maintained to the highest standard & yet they remained unobtrusive. It was our choice to enjoy their company for evening ‘aperos’ in the pool house, which also enabled us to get to know our neighbours & to share tales and experiences. This was a truly unforgettable holiday & one, which we can wholeheartedly recommend.

The weather was hot, the pool perfectly cool and the company warm. The attention to detail has paid off. The gites, pool and grounds are immaculate. The location was wonderful; close enough to walk into the village in 10mins and still far enough away to enjoy peace and privacy."

Our two week stay in Les Oliviers, St Saturnin les Apt was just what we'd been looking for. The Gite was ideally furnished and very well equiped with a pretty bedroom, (although we would have preferred a door between the bedroom and shower room). Nevertheless, this did not detract from our enjoyment of the property and the view from the terrace was exceptional. The infinity pool and the 'apros' at 6.30 each evening, meeting fellow guests and our hosts was most enjoyable. The typical Provencal Village of St Saturnin is within easy walking distance providing bars, restaurants, shops, and the large town of Apt is only ten minutes by car down the hill. We have stayed in Provence several times before, but this location was really perfect. Among the many lovely places we visited, Coustellet for the Sunday farmers market, Lourmarin in the Luberon Hills, L'Isle Sur La Sorgue and the drive to Mont Ventoux via Sault should not been mised. Both Karen and David worked our holiday enjoyable and the success it was and we particularly appreciated the special 'Birthday Breakfast ' delivered to our terrace. We shall be back.

Well where do I start? We first arrived and were greeted by the owners, a lovely couple who were friendly and helpful from the off. David was always available, whether it be booking a table for the local restaurant or recommending somewhere to go for the day. The gite itself was perfect for us as a couple. The open plan kitchen a living area was ideal. The biggest attraction was of course the infinity pool. A lovely pool for swimming and relaxing, very well maintained by the owner himself. The facilities with the gite were ideal, a fully equipped kitchen and washing machine in a seperate out room. The view from the gite is very nice and you will find it hard not to just sit outside on your terrace and relax. Our gite also benefits from its own BBQ which was a winner with my partner and I. The local village benefits from a top quality local and friendly boulangerie. There is also a restaurant there with local food all of high quality, so we ended up going twice! The village also has its own outdoor market once a week which is an experience for anyone. Local produce and local people. A very good holiday for both of us and left us feeling relaxed and extremely happy. Just wish we didn't have to leave. A revisit is definitely on the books!

5 out of 5Beautiful place Mirjam and Frans Brighton / The Hague/ Paris Review Submitted: July 30, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009 Great place to stay. Nice location to chill out get relaxed. The swimming pool is stunning and exists out of salt water instead of chlorine. Very clean throughout and includes practical thing like a dishwasher! Enough places to visit within 1 hrs drive and the 2 owners are very warm, friendly and full of tips. Would definitely recommend and go again next year. Mirjam and Frans
