We belong to the Mauna Kea's Amenity Program so our guests have full access to the services and amenities at both the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Hapuna Prince Hotel just like they would as a hotel guest. These include: residential concierge, pools, beach service, dining, golf, tennis, spa and exercise facilities. And if you are not in the mood to venture to the hotels that day, Wai'ula'ula has its own private amenity center, close to our home, that boasts an infinity-edged pool, kids pool, two hot tubs, fitness center, lounge area, clubhouse, and outdoor grilling and dining area.

Notable features and improvements/additions to the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel include:

It's sister property, the Hapuna Beach Prince has also undergone a freshening up recently. Our guests enjoy privileges at BOTH hotels and can experience all of the first class amenities both have to offer. Each hotel also has beachfront access to what are hands down the best resort beaches on the Big Island (Kauna'oa Bay and Hapuna Beach). These beaches boast calm, clear blue waters with silky Caribbean-like sand. The Four Seasons Hualalai doesn't even come close to matching the natural beauty that abounds here.

I am the homeowner, and I work directly with you on the rental. I strive to make the process as simple and stress-free for my guests as possible, and help to accommodate every extra request they may have. For example, rental of baby equipment (e.g., high chairs, cribs, play pens) and/or roll-away beds, stocking of fridge prior to arrival, transportation, etc can all be arranged. I believe the very positive feedback our guests have left for us (please see Guestbook tab) is a testament of this, which differentiates us and hope will factor favorably into your decision.

Now is a great time to experience the newly revitalized Mauna Kea Resort. Enjoy it from one of the newest homes at the resort with all the modern conveniences, and all at a great price.

Another day in paradise!

We've now made two trips to this wonderful condo on Hawaii. It really is the best of both worlds to relax in the comfort of Waiulaula, yet have terrific access at the Mauna Kea and Hapuna Beach. Each year, our stay gets a day or two longer, so eventually we're going to have to move...! The owner is a pleasure to work with and has appointed the unit very nicely and keeps it well maintained and provisioned.

A wonderful week

We had a wonderful stay here. The condo is beautiful and beautifully appointed. It's also really comfortable (dual zone cooling!). The owner is great to work with. We loved breakfasts and sunset out on the deck overlooking the ocean, with warm breezes. We especially enjoyed the gorgeous Mauna Kea beach. We also made good use of the Amenity Center at the condo—the pool is wonderful and the gym well-equipped. We loved our stay here and are eager to return!

Wonderful condo. I hate to talk it up too much as I would like to be able to rent it again without a wait list. It is exceptional. It makes the Grand Champions in Maui look like a run down motel 6. Owner streamlined everything. Welcome packet is perfect. Most enjoyable, best trip to the Islands yet. Already planning return. Definately do the Surf, Sand and Stars at the Four Seasons Saturday nights. Can't say enough about how great this place is.

Beautiful and relaxing stay!

Date of Stay: 12/10/10 Review Submitted: 12/29/10

My husband and I stayed in this unit for 5 nights. We wished it was more! The unit is beautiful nd well maintained and very large. Much too large for just the two of us but we didnt mind! There is a large flat screen tv in the living room and comfortable sofa. Its a 2nd floor unit which is better than the bottom floor in terms of ocean and sunset views! The complex itself is in a nice location just into the entrance of the Hapuna Beach Prince hotel, which is less than a mile to the Mauna Kea hotel. If you like hanging out at the beach or pool and enjoy working out in a gym, I would definitely pay the extra for the amenity program which gives you access to both hotel's swimming pools, fitness centers, and lounge chairs/towels/umbrellas on their beautiful beaches. The mauna kea gym is open 24/7 but the hapuna's gym is only open until 6pm. I like that the owner gives us access to the garage so we can park our car in there. On the hot days its nice because the interior of the car is not so hot. There was also at least 4 boogie boards, chairs, umbrellas, and an adult set and a child set of snorkel gear for our use. I love having a full kitchen to be able to do your own cooking. It would be ridiculous to have to eat out every single day for 3 meals and gets pricey. The BBQ is also very nice to be able to grill meats and fish. We also used it to grill pineapple which is delicious if you havent tried it! When we entered the unit, we were greeted by a nice fruit basket with a variety of fruits. None of it went to waste! There were also shampoos, soaps and conditioners which were nice so you dont have to bring all of those toiletries to add weight in your luggage! Keenan was great to work with. He answered my emails immediately and it was nice dealing with him. His property manager, Diane, was also very sweet! She was there upon our arrival and made sure everything was just right! She was very easy to contact over the phone when we had a question about something. The photos in the picture reflect the unit except magnify it 100x! We would love to stay there again next year on our next visit to the Big Island!

Mauna Kea-Wai'Ula'Ula 3 BR/3BA condo

Date of Stay: 12/01/10 Review Submitted: 12/01/10

Absolutely wonderful! The condo is very clean, and is lovely in all ways, from the furnishings and wall decor, to the lovely views. Our daughter and her family recently stayed in it, and we were priviledged to spend some time in the condo with them......we were treated to a wonderful barbequed dinner, prepared on the outdoor barbeque. This condo had absolutely everything a family could want, and more! My daughter and family stayed in this condo in November, arriving on Nov. 16! (couldn't write this in the box entitled "date of arrival"---it only allows December arrivals to be noted!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 7 nights in this amazing condo - perfect for a 3 generation get-together. My teens had their space, my parents had a luxurious and private master suite, as did my husband and I. We loved the Wolf BBQ and teak dining table on the deck, the spectacular views, and all the condo amenities. We would definitely stay here again. We appreciated the boogie boards in the garage. We loved the spaciousness of the condo. We LOVED swimming and snorkeling at both the Mauna Kea and Hapuna Prince beaches. Everything was A++!

Big Island condo

Guest: Chris & Tracy (Encinitas, CA)
Date of Stay: 05/28/10 Review Submitted: 06/21/10

All I can say is that we thoroughly enjoyed our vacation to the Big Island, and having such a beautiful place to stay certainly added to our enjoyment. Keenan was a pleasure to work with, and his condo is definitely a 1st Class accomodation -- everything was top of the line and in perfect condition, including the beach chairs & umbrellas in the garage storage area. From snorkeling to zip lining to helicopter tours to golfing, everything was extremely convenient to the Mauna Kea / Hapuna Beach area. We even discovered the quaint little town of Waimea, about 15 minutes up the hill from the condo -- and enjoyed exploring the town and its' great selection of nice restaurants (along with milder temps in the 70's most days). As you can tell, we would strongly recommend Keenans' beautiful condo to friends & family without hesitation. Aloha! Chris & Tracy

Paradise Hawaiian Style

Date of Stay: 01/18/10 Review Submitted: 06/14/10

All the previous reviews and comments are true but there are a few additional things I would like to add. The pictures on the web site don't really convey the true quality and feeling of the condo....it's much better in person than it looks in the pictures and pictures look fabulous!! We used the salt water pool and state of the art gym on a daily basis...it is conveniently located 3 minutes from the condo. We golf a lot and there are 8 courses located within 20 minutes...it doesn't get any better. We will be returning again...year after year...to enjoy the BBQ, the outdoor lanai dining, fresh brewed Kona coffee in the morning with organic granola, berries and fresh baked bread before a work-out at the gym and a round of golf at world class courses....what more can one want?? Did I mention the morning whale show....we saw one whale breach at least 20 times one morning...must have been on steroids!! We had different members of the family come and visit us over our stay and found the condo spacious enough that we never felt crowded. Over 2000 square feet of luxury with great appliances...we would rather BBQ and enjoy the condo than go out to restaurants.....Kona is 40 minutes away for excellent shopping...fresh fish, great wines, and there are several local markets in the area to get fresh produce. Landlord proved to be a very reasonable and professional person which is another reason why we have chosen this location as one of our yearly vacation spots. Highly recommendable, a flawless experience. Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Great place!

Guest: Rob F (Long Beach CA)
Date of Stay: 05/18/10 Review Submitted: 06/01/10

We just returned from a weeks stay at this beautiful condo, and couldn't have been happier! We were vacationing with our adult kids (two in college, one recently married), and the space worked out perfectly for us, especially with the two master suites. The unit is spotless, super spacious, very comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The complex is beautifully maintained and very quiet...no noisy neighbors! Beds and linens were awesome, and the kitchen was super well stocked! Despite our plans to eat out, many nights found us blending up some mai tais, grilling on the outdoor kitchen, and relaxing out on the deck as we watched the sun set. Everybody enjoyed using the fitness center, pool, and jacuzzi, and whenever we went, we pretty much had it all to ourselves. We also enjoyed having access to the beach at the Mauna Kea--very beautiful. I am always super picky about places that we stay, and this place did not dissapoint me one bit. I would totally recommend it! Our favorite outing was the kayaking and snorkeling at Cooks Cove. The clarity of the water and the coral was amazing, and we were surrounded by spinner dolphins on our kayaks. Totally great experience!

All of the fine attributes about this beautiful place has already been commented upon by the previous guests. The only thing I can add to it is that the owner was very friendly and professional to deal with and during our stay, his condo manager was very helpful and friendly. For the people that are not familiar with this resort, the Mona Kea Beach Resort was the very first preatigeous hotel built by the Rockerfellers. It became to be known as the "Rock Resort". It's the finest beach front hotel on the Big Island. Many famous people have been the guest of this fine hotel every year during the Christmas holidays. We have been visiting this island for over 30 years and it has become our second home.
