The property lies behind an old dry stone wall on a small lane. Enter through iron gates and onto a gravel driveway with plenty of parking space. A winding path edged with lavender bushes, leads you to the front door. The entrance hall opens into the impressive high-ceilinged sitting room. With its flag-stoned floor, stone fireplace, and magnificent French windows that open onto the garden and swimming pool, it is perfect for entertaining. Large sofas, an extensive bookshelf, and a state-of-the-art large flat screen TV with surround sound completes the space.
Continuing on the ground floor, next to the lounge is a dining room which opens directly off the kitchen and is a light and very airy room. The kitchen is truly at the heart of the house. Newly refurbished, the kitchen is very well equipped with a beautiful French Lacanche stove (combination gas and electric ) large refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave. Behind the kitchen is a pantry with gravel floor and arched stone ceilings, one of the oldest areas of the house. A great place to keep market produce, wine and cheeses.
At the western end of the ground floor is the kids’ room. With its own TV, DVD player, and computer, there is also a wall of cupboards, full of tennis equipment, board games and art and craft materials, all at your disposal.
Completing the ground floor is a laundry room with boot sink, washer and dryer,
(and its own laundry shoot direct from upstairs), and a cloakroom/water closet.
On the first floor, the master bedroom suite is a fabulous room, the original hayloft of the farmhouse. There is a large antique French wardrobe for storing your clothes in the dressing area. The bathroom, recently installed, features a large bathtub, his and her wash basins, a large glass-sided shower, water closet and bidet.
At the other end of the house is the second en-suite bedroom, which again has a large double bed, and has a small shower room with wc and sink.
The other three bedrooms share a family-sized bathroom. Each bedroom is a good size – one room 1.4 metre four-poster double bed in white iron. Another has twin beds, and the third room has a single bed but a second single bed can be pulled out from beneath to make two singles or a double bed.
THE POOL VILLA
Beside the pool is a large covered terrace featuring an exposed stone wall, hefty beams and old tiles. Ideally cool and shady for breakfast and lunch, the area is also heavenly for evening meals, which can be cooked on the barbeque or in the terracotta bee-hive oven.
Just next to the covered terrace is a kitchen equipped with gas stove and oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, and micro-wave. The worktops are made of stone and the design is very open with plates, glasses and implements all on shelves within easy reach.
The kitchen opens into the living room which has large French windows opening onto the terrace. It has a large rattan divan which opens into a 1.60 comfortable double bed, and two rattan armchairs. It also features a wood-burning stove.
The bathroom has a large shower stall with pebble flooring, a beautiful sink carved by a local stone sculptor, and water closet. The bedroom has a super-king sized bed. All the rooms in the annex open onto the terrace for easy access.
The terrace surrounding the pool has stone flagstones. A number of chairs, tables and loungers make it easy to relax around the pool.
THE SWIMMING POOL
The swimming pool has gentle steps built in at the shallow end for access and the depth of the pool is pretty constant at 1.40 metres, with a slightly deeper area in the middle.
The pool is salt-treated so is gentle on your skin, hair and eyes. It conforms to the highest safety standards with an electrically operated cover that should be closed at all times when the pool is not supervised. Please note that there is no fence around the pool.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
We are an anglo-american family who have lived here in St. Quentin La Poterie since 2002. The children go to local schools, and we work and live here year-round. Peter runs a hotel consultancy business, and Lucy has a hat-making business based out of her atelier/shop in the villlage.
We love this house as it is a relaxed family home - plenty of space for the kids to run about in the garden, a huge swimming pool which is heated to allow us to swim from May to October, and pets many including chickens, so if you wish you can have fresh eggs every day. There are tennis courts a hundred metres away which you can use, we have lots of bikes, and the village shops and market are safe for the children to get to on their own too.
Why the Owner Chose Uzes
Its a great village - big enough to have butcher, 3 bakers including an organic one, schools, restaurants and cafes , a local shop, a newsagent with international papers, doctors, potters, dentists - you name it. Uzes, better known is just 5 minutes away by car which has all the above, but tenfold.
The Unique Benefits of this House
peace; beautiful sunsets; fabulous long dinners by the pool using the bbq or the beehive oven (terracotta oven uses wood and cooks fabulous fish, pizzas etc); real swimming - you can really exercise in this pool, as it measures 14m x 6m; great family sports; space to be together, and space to be apart; very french house yet with all the amenities an English or American family appreciates including international channels.
