Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
We started traveling to Maui around 1990 and discovered for ourselves the amazing, clear turquoise water that was so often calm and tranquil on the south shore. Swimming with turtles, snorkeling and ocean kayaking along the coastline wasn't something we wanted to miss out on. We explored almost every winter, until we found the perfect house in 1999. North Kihei is close to all the great beaches on the South Shore, but also close to get around to Lahaina, Kahului and Iao Valley.
The Unique Benefits at this Private Home + Studio
This is truly a home away from home. It's comfortable and luxurious feeling, with the tile floors leading you out to the screened lanai. The screened lanai is one of my favorite features, with the views of the ocean and West Maui Mountains. It's great for watching the sun set, eating dinners and enjoying the warm evening air.
Owner's Map of Private Homes
Ann started her first vacation rental in 1993 the small town of Arcata, in Northern California. Over the years she expanded to her home on Maui, and another studio in Arcata.
Her daughters, Elly and Mary, have helped her design, furnish, decorate and manage her vacation homes. When not working on their vacation homes they enjoy traveling, hiking, backpacking, and rafting.
Sharing their vacation homes has been a rewarding experience, with interesting and lively guests from all over the world.

Hi Ann, I wanted to thank you for opening up your house for us to use. It was the first “family vacation” ever, and we really had fun. Being able to stay together in a house setting gave us a lot of quality time we wouldn’t have had in a hotel. Thanks again! Warm regards, Sue

Elly, We had a great time at your place. It is REALLY a great spot. I did Haleakala for 2 nights; hiked into the crater and down to Paliku. It was fantastic. We hiked the Pali trail, but I think we should have done Waihee Ridge because it sounded more lush. That morning we decided to do Pali because it was already pretty foggy on the Waihee side, but I still think we should've done it. We did a once-a-month hike in Haleakala called "walk on the wet side" that was great. It takes you into native forests in Nature Conservancy land. Highly recommended. I'm so glad I found your place. I really made an impression on my girlfriend and your place was definitely part of it! Thank you, Elly. Really looking forward to staying there in the future. Mahalo, Jason

Hi Elly and Ann, Are back, but do miss Maui!!!! We like to thank you so much for having such a wonderfull vacation, thanks to your beautiful, very well equipted home!! It felt like ours within the first minute we stept inside. So complete, so spacious. We've had a wonderful, marvelous X-mas holidays and will look back at a kind of honeymoon again. Our international family came from all over the world (Alaska, Switzerland and Holland) to finally see eachother again afther such a long time and everyone enjoyed it till the last minute (even the in-laws). Your house and studio are greatly located, far enough away from the busy part of Kihei. It was great to be between the locals and the roosters of Maui. It made it feel very private and cosy. All your beachgear have been used almost every day. The bikes were fun to ride as far as Makena. On behalf of all the family, I'd like to thank you so much for your hospitality. We will certainly keep talking about Maui and the Hale Ale for months. And if you get any 'Dutchies' again, it might come from our enthousiastic stories!!!!!! Have a very happy, healthy and succesfull 2006!!!! Kind Dutch regards, Heleen WE WERE ON VACATION!!!!

Aloha from snowy Montana, Your home was beautiful and we enjoyed every minute of our stay on Maui. The whole group took a van tour to Hana, the young ones took surfing lessons, did a day trip with a sea kayaking company, did a trip on the Trilogy to Lanai for snorkeling, bicycled down the backside of Haleakala and the old folks did a bus trip up Haleakala, a submarine trip at Lahinia, drove just about every mile of the highways, shopped and fell into bed exhausted each evening. We cooked many of our meals in your very convenient kitchen but also enjoyed eating out. Everything about the whole trip was great. I didn't even mention the beach time we all enjoyed. The time went so fast and we all feel that it was our very best trip ever. Hopefully we will be able to make a return trip. Many thanks for everything. We couldn't have asked for more. Most sincerely, Bonnie & Bill T.

Ann, We have enjoyed your home so very much! It was a very special time to remember spending our stay with our children! The four of us were all alone in the Seven Sacred Pool at Hana for a little while - what a feeling! We had snorkeled before, but Turtle Town was a real treat! Your house is great and such a great location as well - looking forward to our next trip. Mahalo, Paul and Marcia

Aloha and Mahalo, Our stay in your beautiful home was perfection. Swimming and snorkeling - often twice a day was such a treat with all the sunshine and warm water. We drove the road to Hana (all the way ‘round) and rode bikes down Haleakala. . . what fun! We enjoyed many beaches, too. Big Beach and Kamaole II and III were favorites. I loved having the bikes to ride to town for coffee and errands. We enjoyed “Jacques at the Beach” and Mama’s Fish House the most for special dinners out. It will be hard to readjust to normal life and work. I will always have wonderful memories of Kihei and your beautiful home. Mahalo Ann!
