This is like a 5 star hotel only with peace and quiet and beautiful surroundings. I'll make this the only place to stay when at Grand Lake.

This was our second stay on this property and it is an absolutely first class/five star place to stay!! The owners are on site and are very accommodating. Even though they are on site, the cabin remains secluded and very private. The cabin is very modern and all the amenities are top notch. The cabin also has a great view of the lake from the balcony. It is very quiet and peaceful--you can very easily just enjoy all the sounds of nature. We had an extremely enjoyable experience and hope to make it an annual getaway!! Thank You!

We had the most wonderful time. Cell phone service is rather iffy which was the most wonderful thing of all. My husband hasn't turned his cell phone off in 10 years! It was truly a special weekend. The cottage is beautiful and packed like a stateroom on a cruise ship. Everything had a place. The little touches were marvelous and the Egyptian Cotton hand-pressed sheets were to die for! The owners were as available as we needed but otherwise invisible. Our only obstacle was that although the lake is close, the climb is very steep. But rather than forgo another stay at the cottage we have decided to get into better shape before we return, hopefully for our anniversary in November. I took several of the brochures to give to family members who will also enjoy the getaway that is so near and yet so far from home. Lovely! Simply lovely!

This cottage was just perfect for our family of 4. We had our own private retreat in the master bedroom and each of our kids had their own queen bed in the loft. Some would consider me a perfectionist, but I must say the attention to detail put into this cottages is amazing and beyond my expectations. Our Cottage had a view of the lake from the large covered deck and a great private boat dock with a swimming platform and paddle boat. Our kids had great time fishing off of the dock and caught fish each day we were there. The property is in one of the nicest coves on the lake with large bluffs on both sides to protect from the wind and a central location to the most popular areas on the lake. We brought our boat in all the way from Colorado and the owners were kind enough to help me launch it and keep it in their covered slip over the busy 4th of July weekend. An earlier post indicated that they were disappointed with the owners being on site. We found them to be very accommodating and making a point to try and stay out of our way. I would say there availability if we had a question was a positive. It was great family time for us and we intend to make this a yearly destination.

This was a wonderful place to get away from it all. The cottage was very clean and the owners were very nice and helpful. We'll definitely be going back again. Keep an eye out for deer and other critters. Especially on the last stretch of road there.

Owner response: So glad you enjoyed your time with us. The "critters" are part of the charm of being in the country at the edge of the water.

Cottage was very nice but with the owners living in the boat house just below the cottage, it wasn't the secluded, romantic spot we were looking for. I was very disappointed and we left a day early.

Owner response: The Cottages At Big Hollow are located on 3 ½ acres with 580 feet of shore line. Grand Lake is a public lake, we have no control of those who fish or boat into Big Hollow Cove. We believe that Anniversary Cottage meets the dictionary definition of secluded. “Secluded: Sheltered or screened from general activity, view etc.” The term “private” is not used in our listing. The Anniversary Cottage is on a hillside tucked up in the trees away from our home and the Boathouse Cottage. Other guests have described the Cottage as “isolated”, “relaxing”, “quiet”, “peaceful”, “a wonderful place”, “5 star accommodations”, “exceeded expectations”; “only saw 2 or 3 people whole visit” and “everything I was looking for in an anniversary trip”. Although we are sorry the cottage did not meet your definition of “private”, the fact that we were on the property should not have been a surprise since it was disclosed in our conversation when you booked your stay. In the reservation confirmation letter we explain where to find us for check in. Then in our policy statement it is stated we are available to exchange used linens if needed; to assist in starting a fire in the fire pit; to assist in launching boats; to bring additional complementary wood for the fireplace in season; and to remove trash, if needed. We provide you with a phone number so we may be contacted 24 hours a day for anything unexpected that may come up. During your visit we were off the property the majority of the time shopping, eating out, meeting friends. We never saw you again after you checked in. No one was staying in the Boathouse Cottage. You had the property to yourselves. We had no idea you were unhappy. We were unaware you departed early. Sending an e-mail after the fact and then placing a bad review on VRBO allowed us no opportunity to assist you in having the romantic “private” trip you anticipated. If you had expressed your disappointment when you checked in, we would have attempted to help you locate a situation that would have met your definition of “private”. We are as interactive or as invisible as our guests want. We do everything possible to pamper our guests so they will have the kind of get-a-way that will leave them with happy memories. We have many very satisfied guest who are now returning on an annual basis to the Anniversary Cottage - they consider it "their place" to celebrate special occasions.

This was by far the most beautiful place we have ever stayed. It took a while to find it, and we thought we were lost a couple of times, but once we got there, WOW! The furnishings are top notch, I can't think of one thing that I was displeased with. Charming, peaceful, absolutely perfect. The pictures do not do it justice!

Book this cottage! My husband and I, my sister and brother-in-law and my two nieces just stayed in this cottage. It was fabulous! I booked this cottage based on photos and other reviews but I must say the photos do not do this place justice. Linda has thought of everything and great attention is given to the smallest detail. A lot of thought has been put into the design and decor of the cottage and it looks like something right out of a decorating magazine or a coffee table book. This was like staying in a 4 or 5 star hotel suite or a high end B&B with the added bonus of a full size kitchen. Plush turkish towels and bathrobes, luxury bed linens, extremely comfortable beds and pillows, all contributed to the pampered experience and good nights sleep. We enjoyed the quiet location and sitting on the deck drinking our morning coffee and grilling burgers in the evening. They also provide a paddle boat, floaties and a canoe for guest use. If you bring your own boat, they also have a covered boat slip which was a plus for my husband. We've stayed at several VRBO's on Grand Lake and this is by far our favorite. We will be back!

The cottage is exacly as it is pictured and more. They have thought of everything down to the last detail. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. Hope to go back at some point during the fall when the leaves are turning. That's about the only thing I can think of that would make it better.

Because of the great website and photos of this property we had high expectations but they were definitely exceeded. We had a delightful 3 days stay with our family of four adults. The view of the beautiful cove was fantastic and we enjoyed seeing eagles, deer, jumping fish and blue heron. There were activities to do nearby. We took a 3 hours pontoon ride, but to be honest I didn't want to leave our beautiful cottage. We travel frequently but this is the nicest place we have ever stayed. Everything looked brand new and was immaculate. The decorating, location, layout and the hospitality of the owners were all exceptional. We wish we lived closer because we would love to come back. There was absolutely nothing negative about our experience whatsoever.

We had a great time at the cabin, but wait this was no cabin but more like a 5 star hotel. Everything was so plush and cozy. We relaxed and had coffee on the porch and watched the critters and birds. We only saw 2 or 3 people the whole time we were there. We fished on the dock and caught quite a few. My wife and I travel quite a bit and this one ranks at the top for quiet get a way. Very peaceful.

Owner response: We thank you for your kind remarks. We do our best to provide you with an experience where you can rest and revive your soul. We want you to return to your every day life refreshed, with memories that will bring a smile to your face when you think of the time you spent at the Anniversary Cottage and will also leave you with the desire to return.

I actually stayed at the boat house but have seen this cottage too. The accomodations are 5 star and the scenery is spectacular! This is the nicest place I've ever stayed and it ranks far above any hotel/cabin/cottage of its kind. Highly recommended
