I came up with 4 of my buddies and we had a blast. So relaxing and this is what all of us needed. The house is awesome and grounds are great. Plenty of relaxing and having fun. Great for families, couples or friends like my group.. We are booking it again this week for some time in the Fall. The owner has this place so squared away Im surprised they aren't there to tuck you in at night :-)
Owner response:Ha ha! You're so funny...tuck you guys in. After all the fresh air, boating, hiking, and fun, you guys probably all fell asleep in an instant anyway. Glad you're coming back! And thanks for choosing our home away from home!

My fiance and I stayed in mid-April and we had such a great time. Everything is just as it is described/pictured here - but even better! Very clean and comfortable and the view is just beautiful. It is the last home on the lake so it is very private and there's plenty of room for children to play or to curl up with a book or just take in the view and the sounds of nature. The boats are great fun to take out on the lake and the fishing is very good as well. I would have loved to go swimming if it was a bit warmer. One of my favorite things was the swing set that accomodates adults.....felt like a kid again :-) The location is ideal...Vermont is only minutes away and there are many attractions and events nearby especially in the peak season after May 1st - many great local restaurants including The Barn in Pawlet, VT and Rathbun's Maple Sugar House in Whitehall, NY. I would do a little research before you come....I didnt have time before vacation but reading through some travel literature I was surprised to see all that the area has available - scenic drives including covered bridge routes in VT, water parks, state parks, festivals as well as the close proximity to Lake George, etc. - many things to do. I would definitely recommend this perfect hideaway for couples, families - anyone that wants to enjoy the outdoors in a beautiful, peaceful setting. It was definitely an excellent place to relax, renew and recharge in order to rejoin the "real world" after vacation :-)
Owner response:Thank you for the glowing review, Kimberly! I appreciate the kind words. I am so glad you finally got to come and enjoy the lake! Come back again!

The house was very cozy with a beautiful view of the lake. A great place to relax and unwind. Sitting out on the deck with morning coffee and all you can here are birds and wind in the trees. They have DVD's and CD's to be entertained with and travel magazines with local attractions. I wish I did go to Rathbun's Sugar House on the weekend for breakfast and maple syrup, it is only a few miles away. There is also a self guided tour outside of Rathbun's showing the maple syrup process. Great deals were found at the antique store at the end of RT. 21 toward Whitehall. I would certainly rent here again for a vacation.
Owner response:Dear Renee, We are so happy you enjoyed the house! The only bad thing for us about renting it out is that then we don't get there as often as we'd like, ha ha!! But we're heading up there soon so we'll also enjoy that lake view with our morning coffee! We'll be adding a 20' pergola to the back of the house for next year, covered in flowering vines and having a porch swing, so there will be yet another enchanting spot to enjoy nature and all the quiet serenity found here in the patch of heaven on earth. Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. It is much appreciated and helps potential renters get an unbiased opinion of the house and property. Come back again!

The description of the house and property was completely accurate. It was even better than the pictures. The house was meticulously clean and everything we needed was there. We wanted a quiet getaway since I just retired from a very hectic, fast paced job. It was perfect. We totally relaxed in the house, on the deck and on the lake. We fished, took out the rowboat and paddle boat, and were lucky enough to actually see a bald eagle fly by. We also saw deer, rabbits, a woodchuck, turtles, squirrels, frogs (the biggest we've ever seen), and even got to see 3 baby robins when they hatched right over the light fixture outside the sliding glass doors. Mama got a little annoyed with us as we sat on the deck watching her come in to feed them. When things were getting a little too quiet for us city folk, we traveled a short way to find exciting things to do. This was the best of both worlds. You will not be disappointed in your stay here. The owner, Diane, could not have been more helpful in making this one of our favorite vacations.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely house. It was easily comfortable enough for our family of 4 including 2 children under the age of 4. We found the house very clean and just about everything we needed was there. The setting is very peaceful and tranquil and our boys enjoyed the outside space. We made use of the dock and the boats and enjoyed a few dinners outside next to the fire. The owner was extremely easy to deal with and we did everything over the internet/ email, she was even very quick to respond with suggestions and help whilst we were there! I would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a bit of peace and quite in a stunning location.

Cottage is very clean, well maintained and packed with all the stuffs required for a family. From a full fledged Kitchen to individual telephones in each room. Owner is very friendly, kind and provided around the clock assistance. There was an unexpected power outage in that area during our stay. Owner herself called the power agency and ensured that it is back in the shortest span of time. Even though it was not her fault she took the moral responsibility and reduced our rent. I can assure you this, you will never find such a customer friendly owner with an exquisite cottage anywhere else!!! The photos listed indeed is telling the real story. They do have more amenities like a large fire pit, an ipod docking station with an awesome speaker!!, fishing poles, dart board, badminton kit with nets. They also have playpen and Tykes baby swing. We had a wonderful & memorable vacation..Thank you for everything!!!
Owner response:Thank you so much for the wonderful review. You were a great tenant and please come back again!!

This was just what the doctor ordered. I live in NYC and stress levels there can be a bit much at times. So a few days away is key, and this house was perfect. The owners communicate well and help make the stay a pleasant one, and the house is very comfortable. Nicely furnished, nicely decorated, with a full kitchen that's stocked with everything you need (provided you're not a professional chef!) The pictures tell the rest of the story, although to see the pictures is nice, but to wake up to that lake and those mountains is absolute bliss. A great time with no real complaints!
Owner response:Thank you, Colin! Please come back again soon.

This is long, long long overdue but I feel the need to write this review. To start with, the owners went above and beyond to accommodate whatever needs we had. Such sweet and wonderful people. Security deposits were returned promptly. It is a great location with easy and short access to the state of Vermont as well as Lake George, NY. Gives you lots of variety. We stayed on the off season in April, although at that time of year there is not much to do in the towns, the home itself was warm and inviting. It allows for great family time! With a full kitchen, fire pit, awesome deck, a lovely view to just relax, and just the quiet and peacefulness of it all reminds us how much we need to stop and smell the roses in our hectic life of kids. The pictures are true to form. Hopefully next time around we will rent in season to enjoy what the beauty of being up and around Lake George is all about!
Owner response:Thank you so much for the wonderful review! It is much appreciated! If you come off-season again, September and October are just beautiful with the fall foliage and the prices are down from the high season. There is the hot air balloon festival in Queensbury in September (free!). Fort Ticonderoga is half an hour away in one direction, the village of Lake George is half an hour away in the other direction, and there is an apple orchard a few miles down on our road where you can pick apples! Please come back again!

This is overdue.... My son, a friend and I had a wonderful time in this beautifully decorated and prestine house. We went the third week of September. The days were beautiful to go on the lake for a quiet morning canoe ride, early fishing -- my son caught 2 fishes and I caught one right on the deck area! Campfires every night looking at the beautiful stars. The house had everything we needed and tastefully done. We went to Lake George easy ride, the local businesses owners were very friendly, had lunch at the museum - delicious, the antiques place was super (we went twice) The Barn restaurant had excellent filet mignon. The swings were wonderful and having breakfast over looking the water started out the day perfectly. Everyone had a wonderful time and my son didn't miss his televion, video games at all. The owners were wonderful to communicate with -- everything you see s gives you a glimpse -- being there - apple picking, taking a nap outside, listening to the wildlife, barbecuing outside, fishing, reading a book.... that's what I call a vacation!!! Thanks for everything, and I look foward to definitely coming back! Therese
Owner response:Thank you! We feel the same way about spending time there! We hope you come back again soon...

From the moment we pulled in the driveway we knew this was a special place, the view of the lake with the house all nestled in felt so inviting. The house is family friendly, the kitchen table just big enough for the 6 of us to sit around and enjoy a family meal, the kitchen had all the right pans and utensils for cooking and even a cupboard with a few essentials (spices and such). The lake is just beautiful, if you sit for a bit there is plenty of wildlife to spy out. We caught frogs and fish, and saw turtles, deer, bunnies, but the best was the crane. The kids swam, rowed, canoed and paddle boated every chance they could. Traveling around was nice everything just 30 minutes away..The g.p.s. for the guests was perfect, we never were lost we even looked through the history of it for travel ideas. The house was very clean but mostly the amount of thought and detail that was put into this house made our stay even better then we imagined, it felt like we were staying at a relatives house. Thank you for allowing us to stay...Thank you for sharing your home with my family. We will be back to visit again.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this beautifully furnished and comfortable home. This restful vacation had the best of everything. Nearby sights include historic Fort Ticonderoga and Lake George. Quaint restaurants with reasonably priced meals are also close by. Canoeing, paddle boating, and fishing on the lake, followed by roasting marshmallows, completed the perfect vacation!

I recently stayed at the lakehouse with friends. The house and lake are even better than the pictures. The house is clean and very cozy. We took out the peddleboat and enjoyed the scenery. The owner thought of every amenity. Based on the owner's suggestions we visited and enjoyed Lake George, outlet shopping, Fort Ticonderoga, antique shopping at Carol's and Skene Manor. All are a short drive away. She also suggested several restaurants including The Barn in Vermont. Wonderful! It is the perfect get away.

We had truly great time during our stay. The kids (9 and 4) and adults loved the paddle boats (especially the ease of access to a boat anytime!!), roasting marshmallows, the swings, and the serene beauty of the place. Everything was very clean. The owner was extremely nice, and had thought out everything. She was very responsive to all our questions and really made us feel very comfortable even before we left our home. We can't wait to return there again!! PS: The place is even better than it looks on the pictures.

My husband and I just returned from a four day getaway to this wonderful property. It was a surprise trip planned by my husband for our tenth anniversary. We had a terrific time. The house is beautiful and very nicely decorated. The location is fantastic. The house is perched above the lake on a scenic back round, only about 5 minutes from the Vermont border. It is so peaceful and relaxing. We spent time around the lake and on the deck overlooking the lake. We also enjoyed our time away from the house. There is so much to do, both in New York and Vermont. We loved our breakfasts at Rathburn's Maple Sugar House and our private tour of Skene Manor. The Barn Restaurant in Pawlet, VT should not be missed. The owners of the property bend over backward to make sure you'll have a good time. They stock the house with games and every amenity you could need. I highly recommend this beautiful property!
Owner response:Hi there, Although we, as owners, loved this wonderful review, I am unsure as to why they marked this property as good for pet owners. We don't allow any pets. Just wanted to clarify. Thanks!

This vacation house is a great place if you're looking to get away from the craziness of the modern day. It is very remote and has a lovely view of the lake and surrounding mountains. It almost feels like taking a step back in time. The entire house was spectacularly clean (cleaner than any hotel room I've been to) and anything we needed was provided for (except toiletries and meals). I would strongly recommend this place for those of you who are looking to spend quality time with your family. We had a great time and an amazing experience!

We had a fantastic week at the house on the lake. The house was equipped with everything you need on your holiday. Access to a canoe, row boat and pedal boat enhanced our stay. The house is situated near lots of nice villages and towns in Vermont and NY an you can easily get to Lake Goerge and all it has to offer. Lots of useful tourist information is avaialble in the house, as well as recommendations for nice places to eat. A visit to the Barn retaurant is well worth while for some delicious food. Ideal if you want lots of activity or if you feel like taking it easy at the lake or chilling on the deck. Highly recommended!!
