Why the Owner Chose Bar Harbor

We took our family camping in our VW Vanagon in Bar Harbor in 2007. It was our very first visit and it was love at first sight. In 2008, we purchased Blue Rose Cottage because we knew this would be a place we'd want to return to each year. We hope you feel the same way.

We love "Ba HaBa" - the magical place!

An Amazing Place

We had a wonderful time during our stay at your house in Bar Harbor. It was so homey and comfortable and had everything that we needed. I do have to tell you about something special that happened while we were there. Our motivation to visit Bar Harbor was meeting a couple from Bar Harbor while we were hiking here in Prescott AZ. They were here visiting their daughter who attended college here. He told us he was a lobster fisherman and answered a lot of questions for us about Bar Harbor but we didn’t expect to see him again. After our arrival in Bar Harbor we were driving around and stopped at Seal Harbor. A fisherman there was checking on his boat anchored off shore. Would you believe he was the same fisherman (Dennis) we had met here in AZ. But the “small world” didn’t end there. As we were leaving the cottage a couple days later, there was Dennis coming out of the house directly across the street from your cottage…he is your neighbor! His wife Laurie works at the library in Bar Harbor. The next night we bought some lobster from him from his catch that day. Among the things we did besides walking around town and driving the loop road and seeing all the sights…with the help with an audio DVD…we hiked up Cadillac Mtn and enjoyed sunset from the lookouts, hiked around Jordan Pond and enjoyed the popovers and tea afterwards, rented and rode bikes on the Carriage Roads, and took the ferry to Cranberry Isles and walked all of Great Cranberry. Rod and his brother wanted further adventure so they also hiked two difficult climbs: Acadia Mtn and the Precipice Trail up Champlain Mtn…I met them doing easier route up that mtn. This has ended up being a longer message than I planned but I had so much to share. Also, I started reading a book you had there and didn’t finish it so I brought it home with me and left another book there. The book I have is “The Good Life” by Jay McInerny. I will return it by mail if you would like to have it back…really a good book. Thank you so much for everything!

I first need to start by thanking you for making the Blue Rose Cottage available as a vacation rental. Unlike a hotel, we had all the comofts of home available to us and we truly enjoyed our time away. Bar Harbor was everything we expected and more. We still can't stop talking about the fun we had while hiking in Acadia Ntl. Park and all of the great food we were able to enjoy. We spent our first full day exploring the down town area and just loved how easy it was to get around. Everything was so close, so we were able to walk to shops / restaurants and get the know the area. The rest of the week we tried to cram in as many hikes as possible in beautiful Acadia National Park. We couldn't believe all of the trails that were available, with options for every comfort level. Can you believe we had access to a great kitchen and didn't cook a thing. (Does toasting bagels count?). Seriously, how could you expect us to cook with so many great restaurants available within walking distance? This was probably the first week in our lives that we ate only fish or seafood, every day for lunch and dinner. Loved it! We truly enjoyed our time at the Blue Rose Cottage. Thank you again for opening up your home to us so we could explore a new area. We will definetly be back for a visit again in the future.

We had a great time in Blue Rose Cottage and Bar Harbor/Acadia. We thought the cottage was very clean and presentable when we arrived, and we tried to leave it in almost the same condition. The kitchen and dining area are especially comfortable - perhaps one larger frying pan might be good...The upstairs bedrooms are nicely furnished, and the beds are quite comfortable....The WiFi was very much appreciated, as were the TV, DVD player and in-house DVD's. I wanted everyone to watch the great Slingblade, but they refused... Incidentally, we had a terrific experience at Mache Bistro, which, based on online reviews, was no accident. Overrall, we were delighted to stay at Blue Rose Cottage and hope that we will again. Best regards, David

Fantastic Vacation Destination

My husband and I spent 5 nights at the Blue Rose from Sep 18-22, 2010 and enjoyed our stay very much. Acadia National Park is within biking and hiking distance! Blue Rose Cottage also has very easy walking access to downtown Bar Harbor shopping, restaurants, entertainment, and the harbor itself. Blue Rose is in a quiet community but so close to the action. The house has everything you need; washer and dryer, full kitchen, plenty of bedrooms for a house full of guests, and space to move around easily and relax. The house was clean for the most part; other then a lot of pet hair that the last renters may have left. Blue Rose is a great vacation cottage for rental seekers and I would recommend this cottage to anyone. Thank you Hong and Logan for your great hospitality!

We enjoyed our stay. Yes, the cottage was very clean when we arrived. The décor was very nice. We liked having wifi and cable tv. Having laundry machines onsite was also very convenient. We didn’t use the DVD player, or any of the outdoor items. The bed in the master bedroom was extremely comfortable. We would have liked some curtains in the bathroom for a little more privacy. We loved being so close to downtown and all of the restaurants. You have a great little cottage. Thanks.

Excellent location. Clean. Most liked amenities: WiFi and Gas Grill. Kitchen could use a better can opener (one that is there will not open a can) and pitcher (for iced tea). Otherwise, very comfortable Thanks for letting us stay. Bar Harbor is one of our favorite spots. We have been coming here on and off very many years.

Owner response:We are getting a new can opener and a new pitcher :) Thanks

Our family had a magical time in Bar Harbor and were very comfortable and relaxed in the Blue Rose Cottage. There was room for us and both of our grown children and a dog, everyone had enough private space as well as common communal space. The kitchen is perfect, we enjoyed family breakfasts in the kitchen every morning. The appliances (dishwasher and laundry) were great. The location is outstanding, just a brief walk to the harbor, the shops, the restaurants, the shore path, and easy access to the Park. The little room at the back was perfect for storing bikes. We loved hiking in the park, took several ranger programs, two boat trips, went to the Farmers Market on Sunday morning, watched the sun rise and set over the harbor…drove around the island and visited some of the other harbors. Went to the repertory theater. Many many thanks for making your lovely home available to us, it was a true privilege to enjoy it for a week. Best regards to you and your family, I expect that you will enjoy many happy family experiences at the Blue Rose cottage

Thanks for everything. We had a great time! Unfortunately for us, our friends and family members who were supposed to join us had to cancel at the last minute. It was just the Yvonne and myself. Although we made the most of it, and enjoyed having all the space to ourselves. I don't recall ever doing so much vacation walking in and around town in addition to some pretty strenuous hiking. It was great. We hope we can return next summer.

We had a fabulous time. It was wonderful to not have to drive anywhere, especially in the evening when we would go out. We were fortunate to get the week with good weather, and we loved Bar Harbour. We were also really happy to be able to bring our dog Bridgit. I think she had a good vacation also! The cottage decor was thoughtful, and comfortable without being too fancy. Perfect for a beach house. We enjoyed using Fire Pit on the chilly nights. Everything was great. We enjoyed our vacation and had a wonderful time and hope to come back.
