Our stay was beyond our expectations. We were upgraded to a better property than we had booked due to a maintenance issue at the original place, which was a great response on the owner's part. The home was gorgeous, well-kept, tasteful, and comfortable. They really did everything they could to make sure we had the perfect experience, and we did. I offer only one constructive comment: I could have used a bit more equipment in the kitchen -- a cookie sheet or casserole dish, maybe. I wouldn't call that a complaint at all. The place exceeded our expectations.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at the Blue Cottage this past September 29 th for one week. It is a nice size home for a vacation rental with 2 bedrooms and a bath upstairs and a living room, kitchen and 2 bedrooms downstairs. It also has an enclosed front porch that we enjoyed. The house is located in a very quiet and residential part of town about 2 blocks from Main Street, and about ½ a mile to the grocery store. You can walk to town, which is great since Bar Harbor parking spots are hard to find. The kitchen comes equipped with everything you need if you want to cook and there is a washer and dryer. The owners take excellent care of the home. We would not hesitate to recommend this home.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, pet owners, sightseeing.

This was our send year in a row in Bar Harbor. One of our favorite places and the only place we ever returned the following year. Great town, beautiful harbor, and Acadia is the best park that we ever been to. Blue Rose Cottage was a little big for two people but the location was perfect. We were amazed how quiet it was and yet 2 blocks to town. It was great being able to walk to town and not worry about finding a parking place. The kitchen also had everything we needed. Loved the front porch. Was a great week!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful cottage with us. Everything was picture perfect, from the lobsters we ordered for our clambake from your neighbor Dennis across the street... to the in-town location... to the warm feeling we experienced the moment we stepped into this adorable house. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need, the wifi and cable were terrific, and everything was spotless and decorated with so much thought and care. We've vacationed in Bar Harbor now for the last 9 years and this was our best experience yet. We all can wait to return to Bar Harbor and Blue Rose Cottage! Thanks!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, pet owners, sightseeing.

Not Exactly What We Expected

Pictures were a little deceiving, rooms were much smaller than expected except for the bathroom and master bedroom. The single bedroom downstairs is actually a room off the full size bedroom on the main floor. Room appears to be an enclosed porch with no window coverings on the door that goes out to the backyard. We had to hang a sheet for privacy. View directly across the street was of a home that appears to be run down and messy. Floors were not clean, baseboards were not clean and when we opened the doors to the TV stand, it was full of thick dust and pet hair. When we opened the windows on the back and side of the house, the window casings were full of dirt and dead insects. There was food between the table top and game table that was dried on. We did not prepare any food during our stay. Location was good, however felt that immediate area around us was run down. Don't believe that we would stay there again. Sorry, just not up to my standards especially for the rental price.Owner response: After dozens of happy and satisfied guests - and nothing but positive reviews - these comments caught us by surprise. We wish the guests had alerted us that they found some dust underneath the VCR and in some corners. We would've been happy to send by our housekeeping staff. Something is more than just a little suspicious about this review. We hope you will continue reading the other positive reviews that we have received – because they paint a more accurate picture of our beautiful Blue Rose Cottage

Just a note of thanks. We had such a terrific time at Blue Rose Cottage. We felt at home as soon as we arrived. The house was comfortable and like-new inside... yet with quaint authentic touches throughout. The location was perfect for us because we have teenagers and the in-town location allowed us to walk and do our thing, and the kids had the same freedom. Bar Harbor is an enchanted place. And houses like yours are part of its charm.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family visited Bar Harbor, Maine for the first time for a family reunion and had a great time in this cute beach town. Luckily, we were able to fit all 17 of us in Blue Rose Cottage and Summerside Cottage, both owned by the same owners and a half block away. We made the most of our time there and used all the amenities, including cooking some amazing lobster meals in the kitchens and BBQ'ing in the front yard of Blue Rose. The laundry machines, dishwashers and free wifi made us feel more at home and at ease and we were also within walking distance to the major parts of town, including our favorite ice cream shop and the Shore Path along the beach. This is definitely a place worth exploring again and we would love to stay at Blue Rose again,Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Very cozy with all the neccessaries in stock, as well as a nice selection of movies, games and books. A great place to stay for families, even families with pets. A convenient location to get to the shuttle bus that takes you to Acadia National Park. It is also very close to the town center and the harbor. It was nice to have access to WiFi and cable TV. We will definitely be back and even recommend the cottage to our friends. Thanks for the wonderful stay Hong and Logan.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We've been traveling a lot this Summer, so I apologize for not writing this sooner. Because we had such an awesome time at your house and in Bar Harbor. It really felt like an old fashioned vacation, we sat on the porch after dinner and talked and played board games. Other nights, we built a fire in the fire pit and made s'mores. The house was so comfortable and clean. And at night we slept so well with the crisp air of Bar Harbor after many long hours of hiking. Thanks again for sharing your pretty vacation house with us.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Bar harbor is our family's favorite place to vacation. The views are spectatcular, the village is charming, and there's so much to do. Now we've finally found a vacation rental home that suits us as perfectly as the village itself. We had a wonderful time at Blue Rose Cottage. It's in-town location meant we could walk to all of Bar Harbor's many attractions. We didn't have to worry about parking for the fireworks display, we just strolled to the harbor. The house was so clean and the decor so adorable. The beds we comfortable. The bathroom spacious and new. And the kitchen had everything we needed so it was easy to make family meals on the days we did not dine out. Thanks so much!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just had an excellent vacation at the Blue Rose Cottage in Bar Harbor, Maine. It was an opportunity for our small family to experience a three generation vacation in a beautiful setting. This was our fourth trip to Bar Harbor and probably our favorite. The house was in a perfect location for walking everywhere. It was equipped with everything you could possibly need for the week. We all felt very at home, and all the details for attaining the home was handled very professionally. We always enjoy "Poor Boys" food and particularly their "Bread Pudding". The "Divers Ed" excursion was great for kids and adults. Thank you Logan and Hong for sharing your very special home with us!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Thank you Logan and Hong for sharing your beautiful cottage with us. We just returned from spending a week there. It was absolutely charming and met our needs perfectly. It truly felt like home. The cottage was very clean, the beds were comfortable and the amentities much appreciated. Having access to do our laundry allowed us to pack lightly, And, having the full kitchen saved us from eating out at every meal. It was everything that we had hoped for and exceeded our expectations. Now... if there is just something that you can do about that crow that makes his rounds each morning around 4:45 :-) The neighborhood and neighbors are wonderful. It was such a treat to be able to walk to everything..... shopping, groceries, restaurants, the harbor, the shore walk. And, or course, we spent much time exploring Acadia. Maine is amazing and Blue Cottage lovely, so we are very much hoping to make this an annual trip.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful time during our stay at your house in Bar Harbor. It was so homey and comfortable and had everything that we needed. I do have to tell you about something special that happened while we were there. Our motivation to visit Bar Harbor was meeting a couple from Bar Harbor while we were hiking here in Prescott AZ. They were here visiting their daughter who attended college here. He told us he was a lobster fisherman and answered a lot of questions for us about Bar Harbor but we didn’t expect to see him again. After our arrival in Bar Harbor we were driving around and stopped at Seal Harbor. A fisherman there was checking on his boat anchored off shore. Would you believe he was the same fisherman (Dennis) we had met here in AZ. But the “small world” didn’t end there. As we were leaving the cottage a couple days later, there was Dennis coming out of the house directly across the street from your cottage…he is your neighbor! His wife Laurie works at the library in Bar Harbor. The next night we bought some lobster from him from his catch that day. Among the things we did besides walking around town and driving the loop road and seeing all the sights…with the help with an audio DVD…we hiked up Cadillac Mtn and enjoyed sunset from the lookouts, hiked around Jordan Pond and enjoyed the popovers and tea afterwards, rented and rode bikes on the Carriage Roads, and took the ferry to Cranberry Isles and walked all of Great Cranberry. Rod and his brother wanted further adventure so they also hiked two difficult climbs: Acadia Mtn and the Precipice Trail up Champlain Mtn…I met them doing easier route up that mtn. This has ended up being a longer message than I planned but I had so much to share. Also, I started reading a book you had there and didn’t finish it so I brought it home with me and left another book there. The book I have is “The Good Life” by Jay McInerny. I will return it by mail if you would like to have it back…really a good book. Thank you so much for everything!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a great time in Blue Rose Cottage and Bar Harbor/Acadia. We thought the cottage was very clean and presentable when we arrived, and we tried to leave it in almost the same condition. The kitchen and dining area are especially comfortable - perhaps one larger frying pan might be good...The upstairs bedrooms are nicely furnished, and the beds are quite comfortable....The WiFi was very much appreciated, as were the TV, DVD player and in-house DVD's. I wanted everyone to watch the great Slingblade, but they refused... Incidentally, we had a terrific experience at Mache Bistro, which, based on online reviews, was no accident. Overrall, we were delighted to stay at Blue Rose Cottage and hope that we will again. Best regards, DavidDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I first need to start by thanking you for making the Blue Rose Cottage available as a vacation rental. Unlike a hotel, we had all the comofts of home available to us and we truly enjoyed our time away. Bar Harbor was everything we expected and more. We still can't stop talking about the fun we had while hiking in Acadia Ntl. Park and all of the great food we were able to enjoy. We spent our first full day exploring the down town area and just loved how easy it was to get around. Everything was so close, so we were able to walk to shops / restaurants and get the know the area. The rest of the week we tried to cram in as many hikes as possible in beautiful Acadia National Park. We couldn't believe all of the trails that were available, with options for every comfort level. Can you believe we had access to a great kitchen and didn't cook a thing. (Does toasting bagels count?). Seriously, how could you expect us to cook with so many great restaurants available within walking distance? This was probably the first week in our lives that we ate only fish or seafood, every day for lunch and dinner. Loved it! We truly enjoyed our time at the Blue Rose Cottage. Thank you again for opening up your home to us so we could explore a new area. We will definetly be back for a visit again in the future.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

My husband and I spent 5 nights at the Blue Rose from Sep 18-22, 2010 and enjoyed our stay very much. Acadia National Park is within biking and hiking distance! Blue Rose Cottage also has very easy walking access to downtown Bar Harbor shopping, restaurants, entertainment, and the harbor itself. Blue Rose is in a quiet community but so close to the action. The house has everything you need; washer and dryer, full kitchen, plenty of bedrooms for a house full of guests, and space to move around easily and relax. The house was clean for the most part; other then a lot of pet hair that the last renters may have left. Blue Rose is a great vacation cottage for rental seekers and I would recommend this cottage to anyone. Thank you Hong and Logan for your great hospitality!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We enjoyed our stay. Yes, the cottage was very clean when we arrived. The décor was very nice. We liked having wifi and cable tv. Having laundry machines onsite was also very convenient. We didn’t use the DVD player, or any of the outdoor items. The bed in the master bedroom was extremely comfortable. We would have liked some curtains in the bathroom for a little more privacy. We loved being so close to downtown and all of the restaurants. You have a great little cottage. Thanks.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Excellent location. Clean. Most liked amenities: WiFi and Gas Grill. Kitchen could use a better can opener (one that is there will not open a can) and pitcher (for iced tea). Otherwise, very comfortable Thanks for letting us stay. Bar Harbor is one of our favorite spots. Our family had a magical time in Bar Harbor and were very comfortable and relaxed in the Blue Rose Cottage. There was room for us and both of our grown children and a dog, everyone had enough private space as well as common communal space. The kitchen is perfect, we enjoyed family breakfasts in the kitchen every morning. The appliances (dishwasher and laundry) were great. The location is outstanding, just a brief walk to the harbor, the shops, the restaurants, the shore path, and easy access to the Park. The little room at the back was perfect for storing bikes. We loved hiking in the park, took several ranger programs, two boat trips, went to the Farmers Market on Sunday morning, watched the sun rise and set over the harbor…drove around the island and visited some of the other harbors. Went to the repertory theater. Many many thanks for making your lovely home available to us, it was a true privilege to enjoy it for a week. Best regards to you and your family, I expect that you will enjoy many happy family experiences at the Blue Rose cottageDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Thanks for everything. We had a great time! Unfortunately for us, our friends and family members who were supposed to join us had to cancel at the last minute. It was just the Yvonne and myself. Although we made the most of it, and enjoyed having all the space to ourselves. I don't recall ever doing so much vacation walking in and around town in addition to some pretty strenuous hiking. It was great. We hope we can return next summer.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a fabulous time. It was wonderful to not have to drive anywhere, especially in the evening when we would go out. We were fortunate to get the week with good weather, and we loved Bar Harbour. We were also really happy to be able to bring our dog Bridgit. I think she had a good vacation also! The cottage decor was thoughtful, and comfortable without being too fancy. Perfect for a beach house. We enjoyed using Fire Pit on the chilly nights. Everything was great. We enjoyed our vacation and had a wonderful time and hope to come back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We just returned from our vacation, and wanted to thank you for a lovely stay at Blue Rose Cottage. Wish the weather was more cooperative, but we managed to get out hiking everyday, and even used the YMCA one day for swimming (the kids) and a work-out (us parents)! We really enjoyed the game table and the movie selection. Our kids watched “Ace Ventura” two nights in a row and have proclaimed it their new “favorite movie”. The proximity to town was great as well. Just a note for any future guests with celiac disease…our 9 year old son has celiac disease and is therefore on a gluten-free diet. We were THRILLED to find that Miguel’s on Rodick has a gluten-free menu. The Alternative Market also was able to accommodate his dietary needs. Again, thanks very much for “sharing” your home. We hope we can stay there again sometime!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 5/5
