Terry was such a great help throughout the process! I had to fly for more than 20 hours and I felt pretty nervous about getting tho his place at a decent time. Impossible. I got there in the middle of a winter downpour at around 2:00 AM! The weather was classic winter in Boston, but the milder kind of recent years... on the lower 30's, but I was wet and freezing. He welcomed me as if it was ten in the morning. I found a beautiful and cozy home. My room was just perfect for the week or so I was going to stay. And, the best thing for my day: a bottle of wine, delicious cheeses and crackers and fruit. It flushed the lag off my system in no time. The bed was what you expect for an expert sleeper. I dozed off on WBUR, getting acquainted with what was going on in my highly treasured walking city! I had to ask for some things during my stay, and most of them were when I was home (yes, I can call it home) and they were done throughout the day, so no fuss... at night everything was peachy. So, when you choose to go on traveling, please, forget about hotels. This is choosing home abroad! I will always fee grateful to another beautiful show of how things should be: I left my brand new belt at Terry's. So, when I came back home to my Country, I called him and he already had it packed. So, he sent it next day. This details are the small things that count for making these escapades worth coming back: it's your home, an experience you'll never get at a hotel. Thumbs up!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

I stayed at Fort Hill in June 2011 for 8 nights. If you like being surrounded by beautiful, decorative things then this is the place for you. Things that I liked about my stay : - My room had its own separate bathroom which was well stocked with all manner of soap, shampoo, lotion and other toiletries which I made good use of. Thanks Terry ! - There were lots lovely luxurious large soft clean towels which was a real treat. It felt like I was staying in the Queen's private bedroom. - Airconditioning - Small Bar fridge - TV with remote contol and lots and lots of channels to watch - Access to washer and dryer to do my washing - Thanks Terry ! - Terry was very helpful - Price was reasonable - Within close walking distance to train station (no more than a few minutes). Made it very easy to get around. There is a steep hill to be conquered but that was good exercise. - Quiet, clean, private and well maintained. - The advertised rate included all taxes and fees and there were no extra charges. This made it easy to understand. - Email correspondence with Terry when organising the booking was concise and clear and helpful. I would suggest that you have a detailed street map for when you arrive, showing how to get from the train station to the Inn. I spent quite a bit of time trying to find it when I arrived. Thanks for your hospitality Terry.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We loved our time at Fort Hill. My only regret is that our schedule was so full, that we didn’t have much down time to relax and enjoy the house as much as I would have liked. It was very clean, comfortable and stylish. The location was great – it’s just a short walk down to the subway. It was a nice walk that allowed us to explore the neighborhood a bit. Terry was very helpful and there was plenty of travel information available in the house to ensure that every need was met. You don’t need a car to explore Boston, so it was great to have a place to park it during our stay. We loved Boston. We’ll definitely go back and hope to stay again at Fort Hill Inn.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We loved staying here!! Room was very clean and we were very comfortable. Coffee in the room was a plus too!!! Yes! The stairs are quite steep so don't think I would recommend for Seniors with bad knees, unless there is a rental downstairs. It was great for us though. Terry had all the tourist information available in the room, and was very informative about the subway, restaurants, etc. I highly recommend the Fort Hill Inn. The price was great compared to hotels downtown, and we were very comfortable here. Would definitely stay again if we get the opportunity for a another trip to this wonderful city!! There is quite a steep hill you have to walk up from the subway station, so if you've got a lot of luggage.... you might want to take a cab to and from the airport.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+.
Owner response: Dear Ken and Mary, I am very happy to hear you enjoyed your visit to Boston and your stay here at the Inn. It was my pleasure meeting you and hosting you here at the Inn. Please do look us up on your next visit to Boston! Cheers, Terry

We stayed in the Art Room, nicely decorated, good space, en-suite bathroom, very comfortable overall. Metro station nearby, will get you to the center in about 15 minutes. Terry is a great host, very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. He'll fill you in on all you need to know about Boston. Lovely old house that's been tastefully renovated. Definitely recommended.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank You Nina and Mike, It was such a pleasure meeting and hosting you here at the Inn. Please visit with us again if your travels bring you back to Boston at a later date! Cheers, Terry

I just wanted to write and say thank you sooo much for the opportunity to stay in your rental this past weekend (Oct 29th and 30th). I want you to know that your rental unit was just perfect in every way and I really wish that I was able to stay there longer. The hotel that we had to stay at down town was nothing in comparison to your space. Your rental really made me feel at home and the service and help you gave us on our first day there really made us feel welcome there! Thank you again and I want you to know that if Brent and I ever plan a trip to Boston again you are the first on our list of places to stay!!!Did you find this review helpful? Despite some nay-saying about the neighborhood by one of my local friends, my husband and I found the Fort Hill Inn to be situated quite conveniently and in an area where we both felt comfortable walking from the nearby T stop at night. Free parking on the street was a definite bonus as we left our car parked for the duration of our visit and relied entirely on public transportation. Capping everything off were the warm welcome and hospitality shown to us by Terry. He took the time to show us everything we needed to know about Boston including how to get around and where to eat and then left us to our own devices for the remainder of our stay. Our room was cozy, clean, and comfortable, exactly as described. The only words of warning I'll give are these: bring your good set of knees for climbing the steep, narrow, and (due to the age of the townhome) period-appropriate staircase. We would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Owner was very hospitable and had plenty of tourist information available. The accommodations were as described and perfect for someone on a budget. Very easy to get to the subway as well,-30 minutes from the airport and 2 stops from Copley Sq. The place had lots of character and charm. The room with private shower was clean as well. I would definately recommend this private room to friends.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car.

Would highly recommend this property. The owner is very nice and very accomodating. Our room was adorable - very clean, well kept. We loved the docorations - very appropriate for a historic row house. The property is just two blocks from the T so we had no need to rent a car during the trip - a huge saving and very convenient as Boston is a little crazy to drive in. The neighborhood is a bit residential so you do have to travel to do any dining/shopping but it's just a few stops on the T from downtown Boston so not an inconevenience in any way. The value was great - the best deal we found without sacrificing safety/cleanliness, etc. Thank you for a wonderful stay!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
