Villa Dos Palmas is on the beautiful Caribbean island of St. John—truly one of the most gorgeous islands in the world. The Villa is located in Coral Bay, on the east end of St. John, which is known for it's laid-back, funky atmosphere and spectacular scenery. Once a remote outpost of the Virgin Islands, Coral Bay has developed into an eclectic collection of shops, galleries and restaurants nestled amidst stunning natural beauty. Situated high on a mountain ridge above the bay, Dos Palmas has expansive views of the Caribbean Sea and all of the British Virgin Islands to the east and south with equally impressive mountain views to the west and north. The view of Virgin Gorda on a moonlit night is an experience of a lifetime as are the softly lit skies of sunrise.
This tastefully decorated home contains three bedrooms, all with large private baths. The Master Bedroom includes a private deck. Air conditioning is an option in all bedrooms, though the tropical breezes and ceiling fans are perfect for most nights. There is a beautiful pool with a covered poolside wet bar and entertainment area including a grill. On the main level there is a large fully equipped kitchen with comfortable counter seating and large living room with entertainment center. Dine al fresco on the spacious covered deck overlooking the sea or celebrate a special night in the formal dining area. The villa also features an internet equipped office and work area.
The property is meticulously landscaped and surrounded by peaceful tropical gardens and local fruit trees.
St. John boasts a wide selection of some of the finest beaches anywhere. Since over 2/3 of the island is US National Park, there are many hiking trails and Danish sugar mill ruins to explore—some which can be hiked right from the villa. There are many more restaurants and shops in Cruz Bay and the famous duty free shopping on St. Thomas. On St. John all types of water sports activities are available and can be arranged prior to your arrival if desired. St. John is also a short boat trip from The British Virgin Islands, with many scenic and adventurous spots to choose from... considered a 'must do' by many vacationers, we'll set up an unforgettable BVI day trip during your stay if you choose. Remember your passport if you want to do a BVI trip.

Family spent the XMAS week at this villa. We had our best XMAS ever and were blessed with unbelievable weather. Our family has had the pleasure of vacationing on so many different Caribbean Islands and this was the best. Coral Bay is so secluded, yet it has all the necessary restaurants (from high end to very casual), markets and the most spectacular beaches are from 5-15 minutes away. The house had gorgeous views of both the bay and the mountains. The house was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the mornings & evenings. Landscaping was breathtaking on and around the property. It was much nicer then staying at the usual hotel/resort complex. Look forward to spending another vacation at this place in the near future.

We had the pleasure of spending a week in this property. We found the location very private but not isolated, with an outstanding view. The property was beautifully landscaped and well maintained. The pool, while small, certainly met our needs. The house was a very functional design with the living and sleeping accomodations isolated from one another. It was exceptionally clean, well equipped and comfortably furnished. While only seven miles from Cruz Bay the winding mountain road made it a half hour drive. The proximity to Coral Bay afforded terrific eating establishments and recreational opportunities without the crowds of Cruz Bay. The owner was nice, responsive and accomodating. It was an ideal place to spend a winter vacation away from the cold and snow of Maine.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I brought my family here for 1 week this past spring. The owner, friendly, and welcoming, met us at the ferry and led us back to the house on the hill. He even took us to a local restaurant, Skinny legs and showed us around a bit. I am not sure if that is customary, but it sure was nice! The roads to coral bay are curvy, and hilly, but in the end very worth the ride. Wear your seatbelt: they love to give out tickets for that! The house is clean, well equipped and comfortable. The view is amazing. All amenities that were promised were available and in working order. The beaches are a couple hilly miles away, but secluded, clean and easy to find. The hiking trails and views from them were great... hiked 5 of the 7 days we were there, and didn't cover half of what I wanted to see. There are a few places nearby that I really liked: Shipwreck landing: great food, friendly (island time) service- relax, have fun with it! Skinny's has a great Mahi Mahi Sandwich. And Happy Hour at Aqua Bistro, and their grouper fingers should not be missed. I heard sweet plantains and Miss Lucy's are great for authentic west indian dining. The donkey diner has great breakfast. And the Jolly Dog has some truly funny t-shirts (etc) so you never forget your vacation. I would rent this house again and again. Wait, we have stayed there 3 times. I hope you love it too!

Beautiful Home But Less Than Perfect Experience

The home is lovely, but a bit weather worn. One of the rooms had torn wall decorations. There was a bit of an ant problem in the master bedroom from the first night we were there. The location is difficult due to the dangerous road leading to the house. It is a beautiful view of the channel, but obstructed by wires. It can be loud at night due to the bars in Coral Bay being directly below the house. The pool is beautiful, but gets no sun past noon. When we went around Easter, it was too cold to use in the afternoon or evening. The beach chairs and coolers were broken. The owner asked us to water the plants for him, and we difficult dealings with him after our rental was completed. We were told that we would have extra time prior to check-out, but the cleaners showed up at 9:00am and rushed us out. I would not recommend this home to families.
Owner response:When I spoke with this party midway through their stay they said they loved the house, especially praising all the extras provided. After they checked out, a broken item was discovered. When billed for the item, they became very upset, even though the bill was quite small. To address their issues: The house is very well maintained, sprayed for pests regularly. The road access is very easy by St. John standards. The view is not obstructed, and the villa is full mile above Coral Bay, not 'directly' above. The pool gets sun into the late afternoon. There was one (1) broken beach chair I was unaware of, it was replaced immediately. One of the coolers did have a loose handle, it's been replaced. The cleaners did NOT show up at 9 AM, but at NOON, as agreed, but the pool cleaner was there about 10. No one rushed anyone. When people rent this property, my first priority is their satisfaction, and a clean, safe, comfortable, and yes, special, experience.

Simply put, Villa Dos Palmas is amazing. The villa is easy to access (a big plus in St. John), and is situated perfectly above all of the best restaurants in Coral Bay. The views out to the BVIs were incredible and we loved sitting on the deck in the morning with a cup of coffee. The house is kept in immaculate condition and the landscaping is beautiful. The pool and outdoor bar area provided a great place to relax at the end of the day. The villa is well-equipped with everything you will need for your vacation on St. John. Our group consisted of 6 adults and there was plenty of space for everyone. We are looking forward to returning to Dos Palmas!
