The "Bon Fir Cabin" is a beautifully restored 1930's cabin located in the foothills of Mount Hood. It is just 43 Miles from the Portland airport, less than a mile from the Mount Hood Wilderness Area, and a three minute walk from the Zig Zag River. The original native fir floors, cedar siding and vaulted ceiling throughout help it retain it's historic charm. The cabin is fully equipped with a modernized kitchen, cozy wood stove, a queen bed, and a four person hot tub. The Bon Fir sits on a large wooded lot with plenty of room to relax.
The cabin has only one bedroom with a queen bed. Also, the couch in the living room pulls out to a surprisingly comfortable queen hideabed. The bathroom has a full-size front loading washer and dryer, and an antique clawfoot tub with a shower. The four person jetted hot tub is built into the deck to soak your bones after a long day of fun.

Romantic 1930's Mount Hood Cabin with Hot Tub *Free Wifi*
Year Purchased: 2008
Why the Owner Chose Mount Hood
I bought this cabin because I wanted a place close to Mount Hood and I love the outdoors. As soon as I walked inside I fell in love. The dark wood paneling and the vaulted cedar ceilings give the cabin a beautiful historic feel. The deck is huge and the hot tub is a great bonus.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
I like to get a fire blazing in the wood stove and play games with friends. The tall trees and large lot give a contrasting sense of space to my otherwise urban life. I like to play old records on the record player.
This is a great BBQ restaurant. If you've never been you've got to try it. Live music on most weekend nights.
Great historic ski lodge to grab a bowl of soup or hot cocoa

What a gem of a cabin. The pictures and location were the selling point for us and we were not disappointed in any way. Martin has created a wonderful retreat for visitors, with all the amenities, including a hot tub for weary hiking muscle to recoup in. Great bed too. We absolutely loved our stay and would have liked at least one more night before heading to the Oregon's coast. Bon Fir's location is an ideal base for hiking, exploring around Mt Hood and the Columbia River area and there are numberous little restaurants to try, like the Zig Zag Inn, Skyway BBQ, Still Creek Inn. We would highly recommend Bon Fir to anyone looking for a romantic cabin in the woods. Thanks Martin.

We arrived for a one night stay and were impressed with this beautiful little cabin in the woods within ear shot of the ZigZag River. The cabin is beautifully appointed, clean, and warm. The hot tub was set into a deck that wrapped around the entire cabin and had a lovely view of towering fir trees and the backyard. We will definitely be returning for another stay!

Bon Fir was all it claimed to be and more! We used it as a base to explore the entire Mt. Hood area and the Gorge. The photos accurately reflected the amenities and appearance; it was clean and clearly well cared-for. The owner was prompt and thoughtful in our email exchanges. During our stay, we enjoyed meals at the Timberline Lodge, Skyway Restaurant in Rhododendren and a surprisingly delicious lunch at the Cascade Locks Visitors Center. We spent one evening listening to the owner's collection of old 78 records ~ good, relaxing fun. As a city-slicker, I confess to some misgivings as we drove into the cabin along two single lane dirt roads ~ but once we walked in the door of Bon Fir, I was relieved and felt completely at home. I would highly recommend this place.

This cabin is in a prime location for exploring the Mt. Hood area with good proximity to hiking and skiing. It's quite reasonably priced considering the more expensive and less appealing condo-style lodging a few miles up the road in Government Camp. It is well kept but retains an old-time charm with the fireplace and stove. The owner gave us great directions to get there, and even helpfully pointed out that GPS would be wrong. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you plan to visit Mt. Hood for any reason. And also definitely be sure to visit the Skyway restaurant/bar/lounge about 1/2 mile down the road when you are here. We've stayed twice in two years, and we'll definintely be coming back!

What Gin? Looked all over to no avail. Wonderful time away, thank you for making such a lovely retreat. We had great dinners, relaxing soaks and many hours curled up on the sofa reading. We cant wait to return.

Thanks for a great stay at your cabin. It is a beautiful place and obviously well cared for. Whats up with the gin? Some kind of social experiment? We were tempted!! OWNER COMMENT: I accidentally left my "owners cabinet" unlocked and there was a bottle of Tanqueray inside. It seems to have caused quite a stir with the last two guests. Rest assured guests will never be charged for consuming anything that is left out, but I do appreciate your integrity in replacing the Gin with a new bottle. The "social experiment" was unintentional, but you passed nonetheless. Thanks.

Wow- Somebody was really thinking when they put this place together! We walked in and went nuts. (I cant get over how cool the oven/stove is!!) But the capper was listening to all our all-time favorite records on a record player, Brilliant. Another nice touch: the gin. But we were afraid to drink it... :) When we get home were converting all our walls and ceilings to this home-sy wood. Delightful!! And I won't even get started on how zesty the bouncy bed was... Thank you

We had a great weekend. We went for a hike up Hunchback Mountain (it was snowing at the top), soaked in the hot tub, sat by the fire, and had a relaxing time. You have a nice little place.

I celebrated my 40th birthday here at the Bon-Fir. A nomadic weekend with the love of my life. A crackling fire, steamy hot tub, walks in the forest, vinyl records of Fleetwood Mac and Carly Simon. It is as if this cabin was custom tailored for just us! This has been the best birthday weekend of my life! I cannot thank you enough for creating this peaceful place.

Lovely Place! Thanks for making it available at the last minute. Great way to spend our 17th anniversary!! We did a killer hike from Timberline to Paradise Park (killer for us being out of shape as we are) then has a drink at the lodge and back to a soak and fixed dinner. Today some fishing and now back in kids and craziness in PDX.
