Bon Fir Cabin at the foot of Mt Hood is the quintessential cabin in the woods. If you are looking for a quaint mountain cabin experience, with all the amenities and comforts of home that doesn't smell musty and wet, look no further. With its roaring wood stove, and cozy four post bed, and charming claw foot tub it was the perfect getaway for a weekend in the woods. Nicely appointed with rustic cabin flare addedctovthe experience. Less than 20 minutes to sking, snowshoeing, and the village of Government Camp, Bonfir Cabin is a convenient home base for all your winter adventures. It is equally welcoming if you want to snuggle up by the fire with a good book or to listen to the endless collection of vinyl and board games. Also, one of the few homes in the area with a hot tub to soothe your tired legs from a day on the mountain. I have scoured the vacation rental sites and Internet searches, this is the the one.

What a gem of a cabin. The pictures and location were the selling point for us and we were not disappointed in any way. Martin has created a wonderful retreat for visitors, with all the amenities, including a hot tub for weary hiking muscle to recoup in. Great bed too. We absolutely loved our stay and would have liked at least one more night before heading to the Oregon's coast. Bon Fir's location is an ideal base for hiking, exploring around Mt Hood and the Columbia River area and there are numberous little restaurants to try, like the Zig Zag Inn, Skyway BBQ, Still Creek Inn. We would highly recommend Bon Fir to anyone looking for a romantic cabin in the woods. Thanks Martin.

We arrived for a one night stay and were impressed with this beautiful little cabin in the woods within ear shot of the ZigZag River. The cabin is beautifully appointed, clean, and warm. The hot tub was set into a deck that wrapped around the entire cabin and had a lovely view of towering fir trees and the backyard. We will definitely be returning for another stay!

Bon Fir was all it claimed to be and more! We used it as a base to explore the entire Mt. Hood area and the Gorge. The photos accurately reflected the amenities and appearance; it was clean and clearly well cared-for. The owner was prompt and thoughtful in our email exchanges. During our stay, we enjoyed meals at the Timberline Lodge, Skyway Restaurant in Rhododendren and a surprisingly delicious lunch at the Cascade Locks Visitors Center. We spent one evening listening to the owner's collection of old 78 records ~ good, relaxing fun. As a city-slicker, I confess to some misgivings as we drove into the cabin along two single lane dirt roads ~ but once we walked in the door of Bon Fir, I was relieved and felt completely at home. I would highly recommend this place.

This cabin is in a prime location for exploring the Mt. Hood area with good proximity to hiking and skiing. It's quite reasonably priced considering the more expensive and less appealing condo-style lodging a few miles up the road in Government Camp. It is well kept but retains an old-time charm with the fireplace and stove. The owner gave us great directions to get there, and even helpfully pointed out that GPS would be wrong. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you plan to visit Mt. Hood for any reason. And also definitely be sure to visit the Skyway restaurant/bar/lounge about 1/2 mile down the road when you are here. We've stayed twice in two years, and we'll definintely be coming back!

What Gin? Looked all over to no avail. Wonderful time away, thank you for making such a lovely retreat. We had great dinners, relaxing soaks and many hours curled up on the sofa reading. We cant wait to return.

Thanks for a great stay at your cabin. It is a beautiful place and obviously well cared for. Whats up with the gin? Some kind of social experiment? We were tempted!! OWNER COMMENT: I accidentally left my "owners cabinet" unlocked and there was a bottle of Tanqueray inside. It seems to have caused quite a stir with the last two guests. Rest assured guests will never be charged for consuming anything that is left out, but I do appreciate your integrity in replacing the Gin with a new bottle. The "social experiment" was unintentional, but you passed nonetheless. Thanks.

Wow- Somebody was really thinking when they put this place together! We walked in and went nuts. (I cant get over how cool the oven/stove is!!) But the capper was listening to all our all-time favorite records on a record player, Brilliant. Another nice touch: the gin. But we were afraid to drink it... :) When we get home were converting all our walls and ceilings to this home-sy wood. Delightful!! And I won't even get started on how zesty the bouncy bed was... Thank you

We had a great weekend. We went for a hike up Hunchback Mountain (it was snowing at the top), soaked in the hot tub, sat by the fire, and had a relaxing time. You have a nice little place.

I celebrated my 40th birthday here at the Bon-Fir. A nomadic weekend with the love of my life. A crackling fire, steamy hot tub, walks in the forest, vinyl records of Fleetwood Mac and Carly Simon. It is as if this cabin was custom tailored for just us! This has been the best birthday weekend of my life! I cannot thank you enough for creating this peaceful place.

Lovely Place! Thanks for making it available at the last minute. Great way to spend our 17th anniversary!! We did a killer hike from Timberline to Paradise Park (killer for us being out of shape as we are) then has a drink at the lodge and back to a soak and fixed dinner. Today some fishing and now back in kids and craziness in PDX.

We enjoyed our stay, hiking at Mirror Lake and on the Gorge ride. The Skyway was a fun place to eat. Friendly. We made use of the fireplace and the hot tub. Very relaxing and the cabin was well equipped and snug. Hope we can come again!

We had a great time staying at the cabin - everything we could have wanted was provided. When the rain kept us inside we got great use out of the fireplace, record player and games. We also enjoyed making use of the large kitchen (and all that was provided in it). We loved our stay.

This place is AWESOME! I am originally from OR but came back and brought a friend. And the fact that you don't know where this place is until you book it is great, but it turned out this cabin is only 2 blocks from the house I lived in growing up here! Brought back great memories!

From Ramona Falls to Bald Mountain, from Mirror Lake to the Paradise Park Loop, this place is wonderful! Our calf muscles would have been twice as sore without a hot tub soak and comfy bed to come back to. Great Cabin! It's the perfect getaway from city life. (The website photos don't do this place justice)

This was a great getaway from the Texas heat of over 100 everyday for the past 30+ days! This cabin is very cozy & had everything we needed! Was pleasantly surprised to find that our laptop had a connection! Very comfortable bed. Only one thing I would suggest for the shower, a rack up high to hold shampoos etc. We went on nature walks through the woods, was great! Enjoyed the cabin a lot!! Thank you!

We needed a getaway to de-stress & get some R & R. Bon fir was Super Cozy - we went on some nice hikes, cooked a few fabulous meals, soaked in the hot tub(!) and got plenty of sleep. The Skyway is VERY GOOD - the BBQ tofu, mac & cheese, & beets are highly recommended. A few missing items that might have made the stay even better: deck chairs, bedside lamps, cheese grater. All in all a very nice getaway. Owner Comment: We now have deck chairs and bedside lamps. I'm still working on getting a cheese grater... :)

We made a snow lady-bug in the backyard, but you can hardly tell what it is now. It is so peaceful and calm. You might want to check the microwave. I really enjoyed the down quilt. It was like sleeping on a cloud. Thank-you so much for a cute and cozy place to stay! Your cabin is a nice place to come visit to get away from the bustle of Lake Oswego. Sincerely, Angela Owner Comment: We have a new microwave that works!

The Snowbuggy out back says hello - and goodbye! This cute little place is nice to come back to when you are all wet and tired from tubing at Mount Hood. The best part is that it's so close! In the time that we were here there was not a lot of snow but we enjoyed it all the same. After all, it is March!

The few days I've spent here at the Bon Fir were some of the most peaceful and relaxing times I've had in a long time! This was a much needed refuge from Portland's "big city" life. So quiet it has been and very easy to unwind.

We had such an awesome time here in The Bon Fir!!! We actually came here for a snowboarding trip, but the weather is all rainy and foggy… So ended up cancelling the whole thing and stayed in this little cozy place and hang out for the whole weekend. WHICH was one of the best weekends we ever had. Starting a fire was kind of a challenge for us (never had to use one back in Cali). We wished the weather to bright up a bit, so we could enjoy a breakfast on the lovely porch. Oh well, it was still a perfect weekend getaway.

A perfect respite! I loved having the cabin to myself for a few days, and then sharing it with family. It’s cozy and yet spacious at the same time. So wonderful to be able to really relax and also take advantage of the beauty of the area (we managed to get some hiking and biking in between the rain!) Fabulous hot tub too! Thanks so much!

We had a wonderful time at the Bon Fir! Very restful getaway and thoroughly enjoyed this sweet little space. The classic Pacific NW weather of sun - drizzle - clouds - rain - sun allowed for fantastic hikes as well as hours being lost in books and magazines on the cozy sofas and lovely porch. We loved coming home to the inviting space that graced us with the infusion of cedar smell upon entry to the cozy cabin, as well as the hot tub that was super relaxing and soothing. We wished we could stay longer but felt that this space fully optimized our little break from our professional lives in Hawaii and Seattle. We hope to return someday and we will be recommending the Bon Fir to friends and family.
