One-of-a-kind, colorful, charming second-story apartment with tropical decor, above a homey natural medicine clinic. View of Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, the Edmonds ferry. This early 1920's craftsman home, painted in an attractive teal and rose, was actually made from a Sears Roebuck mail-order kit! You will be surrounded by mature rhodies, calla lilies, fuschias, lilac, and lot of lovely flowers, in true Edmonds garden style. Enjoy the best of both worlds: the heart of the Edmonds Bowl while feeling like you are on a beach on Maui! Walk up the stairs and enter through the green hallway framed by indigenous, Jennifer Markes prints of Caribbean beach scenery. The bright and cheery, coral-colored kitchen will warm you right up, rain or shine outside. The grass-green living room with comfy, thick-cushioned sofas and chair and watery, Hawaiian art will make you feel right at home. A comfy queen-size aerobed, with memory foam on top, can be set up in the living room with advance notice. The rose and green master bedroom, with four-poster pineapple bed and floral and angel decor, is cozy and welcoming. The rose and teal bathroom is filled with angel pictures and ceramics from Italy and beyond. This is a delightful, cheery apartment unlike any other that you will find in Edmonds.
Just steps away from your Hawaiian retreat is the heart of downtown Edmonds, with restaurants to cater to nearly every culinary desire. You will find Pacific Rim, Italian, Thai, French, Mexican, Northwest seafood, and other restaurants, bistros, and coffee houses within a five-minute walk. A classic one-screen movie theater, numerous art galleries, antique, boutique and specialty shops of all kinds including a wine shop, The Savvy Traveler, and a gourmet shop providing a quaint, yet sophisticated, small town feeling. In the summer you can buy fresh produce and crafts and meet the locals at the Edmonds Museum Saturday Market two blocks away on Bell Street.
Your home away from home will be just three blocks from the Edmonds Waterfront Park, the Amtrak/Sounder Station, the ferry terminal to the Olympic Peninsula, and the underwater diving and beach park. We are naturopathic and homeopathic doctors. Our lifestyle is a bit unusual in that we live part-time on Whidbey Island (Langley) and the other part in Pucon, Chile (see our fabulous home on vrbo). Our specialty is helping children with behavioral, learning, and developmental problems with homeopathic medicine. We treat patients from all over the United States and beyond. We also enjoy treating adults and Judyth specializes in women's health care. We love to hike, kayak, travel, and to take in the beauty of nature, near and far. Judyth loves interior decorating, as you will see in the photos of our homes. We attended frequent homeopathic seminars in Hawaii (in fact we considered moving to Kauai), so that is why the furnishings and art make you feel like you are in the islands.
Why the Owner Chose Edmonds
We fell in love with our Edmonds home the moment we saw it. At the time we were renting an office in the University District and it made sense, in the long run, to buy a building. We looked in Edmonds because we loved the proximity to the Sound and the charming, tranquil, welcoming, artsy flavor of the town. Every time we passed by this building, we remarked to ourselves, "If a lawyer can find a place so beautiful, so can we." (It was a law office at the time.) With the help of a realtor friend, we leafleting houses in Edmonds bowl, describing what we were wanting.
A We took a trip to the U.K. and, upon returning, were told that we needed to contact him immediately. An hour later we met him, you guessed it, at the house we had so admired. The rest is history.
A patient years ago told us that a relative of hers grew up in the house. She pointed out the living and dining room, bedroooms, and shared some memories.
Originally we rented the apartment to long-term tenants, then occupied it ourselves. Now we live full-time on Whidbey Island, and it seemed the perfect time to share the lovely apartment as a rental.
