This cabin was shared by re-uning nearby High School graduates and was perfect. It had all the needed amenities, WiFi, HDTV with a dish, beautiful fireplace, nice kitchen, sleep in screened-in porch and best of all great views all times of the day and in all weather. We had from 3 to 5 staying there in two bedrooms, two blow up beds and a mattress on the porch. Shower worked well and had good flow and plenty of hot water. The road in is a little rugged and would be hard to find for the first time after dark. Close to a breakfast place a liquor store and an over-priced and fairly rudely run restaurant.
Owner response:Glad you guys had a great time! Sorry to hear about the restaurant. Please come again. Jonathan

As soon as you walk inside the cabin you're eyes are immediately drawn to the sweeping view of the tree tops and mountains. You feel as if you are far away from it all yet within walking distance of S. Egremont and a short drive to other area attractions. The cabin is well appointed with a well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and a gas grill. The screened porch was the best - we spent many hours enjoying the cool evening breeze and it afforded us the opportunity to unwind. Jonathan has given so much thought to making the cabin a comfortable retreat. We hope to return to the cabin on our next trip to the East and will also recommend it to our family and friends. Thank you Jonathan!
Owner response:Thanks you two, I'm so happy you enjoyed yourselves & the weather held out beautifully for you. Please come again & thanks for leaving the house in such good condition. Jonathan

I stayed at this cabin in last September for a personal retreat. I spent a few days at Kripalu Yoga Center using day passes but stayed at this lovely cabin for the privacy and comfort. The photos are accurate, and the cabin is lovely. The kitchen well equipped, with more 'kitchen stuff' than anyone would need fir a short stay. The bathroom is small but adequate, as one would expect from a 1940's cabin. The washer/dryer is rather inconvenient as it is under the house in a framed-in area beneath the kitchen. In less than ideal weather using the laundry by going outside and around the side of the house would be a pain. However, in order to keep the integrity of the architecture of this '40's cabin, there really is no other place for a laundry to go besides under the kitchen. Ii was thrilled with comfort of the living room, the bedrooms, and the beautiful view from the back screen porch. My stay was all I could have asked for to retreat from my normal busy schedule. The screen porch was the perfect place for my yoga mat for some morning exercise. The kitchen was great for simple meals and snacks. And the serenity of the surroundings allowed me the opportunity to just be at peace for a few days.
Owner response:Thanks for your review. Kripalu is so close to the cabin it makes it very convenient for day visitors to Kripalu to par-take in all their programs but to still have your own space at the end of the day. Thanks again Debbie, hope you return again soon. Jonathan

The cabin was cozy, super clean, bed and linens were excellent. My husband and I enjoyed our long weekend, we only wish we'd have taken another day dedicated to lazing on the screen porch gazing out at the amazing views and appreciating the peace and serenity. There is a ton to do around - the hiking trails were great, we shopped in some quaint little towns, and hit antique shops aplenty. The food was also excellent everywhere we went - John Andrews is a must! On our way out of town we enjoyed an abundant and homey breakfast at Mom's. Thank you Jonathan, your suggestions were much appreciated. We loved your cabin and can't wait to come back next year! -Karen Carson

Two couples spent a glorious weekend at this lovely cabin. We had tickets for three concerts at Tanglewood. We had been concerned about the distance between the cabin and Tanglewood, but the journey between proved to be very easy and convenient. It was a joy after busy Lenox, Stockbridge, and Great Barrington to return to the peace and quiet and deceptive isolation of the cabin - deceptive, because despite its seclusion, it is wonderfully convenient to everything one should wish to do in the Berkshires. The view from the cabin suggests that one is miles and miles from built up areas, yet in ten minutes one is in Great Barrington - our favourite town in the Berkshires. The cabin is beautifully appointed with an extraordinarily well outfitted kitchen for a vacation rental property. The screened in porch is bliss. The cabin was ideal for two couples; we were very comfortable. The bed in each room is a Queen and very comfortable. We have rented properties around the world. We have never found a cleaner property anywhere. Everything was immaculate. We shall be back.
Owner response:It makes me feel so good to receive these glowing reviews! I feel so good to have been a part of making vacation time for my guests, relaxed & carefree. I really appreciate your kind words & look forward to your return. Jonathan Rick

We stayed for just a couple of nights and loved the location, amenities on the property, and the charm of this wonderful cabin. The owner is very friendly and helpful, and he thoughtfully and tastefully decorated and stocked the cabin throughout. The kitchen is a nice surprise, with plenty of pans, dishes, spices, and other necessities for everyday and gourmet meals. We visited during a particularly hot and humid stretch of weather in July, and within minutes of putting on the fans and at times the A/C, the cabin was very comfortable. We loved sitting on the screened-in porch for our meals and in the evening, enjoying the serenity of this special place. We also found a great swimming spot just down the road in the river, and enjoyed several hours just lounging and taking a cool dip with our toddler son. We can't say enough about how beautiful and wonderfully private yet close to everything this cabin is (including a great grocery store and several nice restaurants). Thank you, Jonathan, for sharing such a wonderful retreat!

My husband and I just returned from a week-long stay at this wonderful cabin and we loved every minute of it. Both the setting and the cabin are even more beautiful than the pictures indicate, with lovely antique furniture and art, a nice cool screened in sleeping porch, a great kitchen and also an outdoor gas grill... The place is very private and quiet, while still being close to South Egremont and Great Barrington, both of which have fabulous restaurants (rivaling some of the best in NYC). There is no shortage of fun activities in this area of the Berkshires. We went on hikes with our dog up mountains and to picturesque waterfalls, went river tubing in CT, visited the Norman Rockwell Museum, and had a lot of really amazing meals. The owner was friendly and very helpful and all told it was a great experience and we hope to return soon!

We loved staying at this home-away-from-home, which has all the personal touches of a home and has not been made anonymous for rentals. It's just the right size for 2-4 people, it's personal, it's comfortable and well taken care of. We loved the screened-in porch and it's great, long view and walking around the neighborhood. The development is quiet, with a mix of older modest homes and newer, less modest homes. The owner is immediately responsive to emails and phone calls, but we found nothing amiss during our stay. This is not luxury, but good, roomy-enough, easily-managed living.
Owner response:I'm please with the review, the renters were very courteous and took very good care of my property. Thanks, Jonathan listing #219964

We had a great time here (two adults and one 11-year-old) in this charming cabin. When we arrived it was hot, but once I figured out how to open the windows (which all use old-fashioned hand-cranks) and turned on some fans it got very comfortable inside. The beds were firm and very comfortable, and we slept well. It felt in many ways as if we were staying at a friend's house. The bathroom was stocked with as many big, real, towels as we could possibly use; the kitchen had a full spice cabinet; there were books everywhere. The only problem was that the closets and drawers were mostly full, so we did not have a lot of places to unpack -- but for a long weekend that was not a big deal. We loved eating breakfast on the screened-in porch every morning. The location was very convenient to everything we wanted to do in the Southern Berkshires -- especially hunting for used books and antiques. We ate at the Old Mill (an old favorite of ours) and also at John Andrews, recommended by the cabin owner, which was new since we'd last been to the Berkshires and another great meal. We would certainly stay at this property again the next time we're in the area!

This was the perfect getaway for the four of us. Thanks so much, John, for keeping such a gorgeous cabin! We enjoyed the fireplace, the view, antiques, golf, local meats (at Route 7 Grill) . . . and of course, your gourmet kitchen. And the privacy was much appreciated. We'll look you up again!

Hi Jonathan, We had a wonderful time! The house was perfect & the view was spectacular! We hiked Jug End, Bartholemeus Cobble & Mt. Everet Reservation all breathtaking! We saw a Bald Eagle and a huge Owl and lots of wabberlers too. Ate at Mom's Caf'e in the village, John Andrew's restaurant, Bizen Japanese and Baba Louie's, all YUM! Guido's Fresh Marketplace was great too. We put a few rocks in the water in your bird bath & the Robins and House Wrens took several drinks & baths! We also dipped our feet in your spring fed pond up the mountain and our Son loved it! We LOVE the Berkshires and will definately be back. Thanks for everything!
