Welcome to Ventana Del Mar! For those of you looking for a true Costa Rican experience without the hustle of vacation resorts and tourist traps, you’ve found the right place. Built in 1997, this custom home is nestled in the trees overlooking Carrillo Bay. The open air design brings cool ocean breezes and plenty of sunlight. All of the bedrooms are fully appointed with air conditioning units and ceiling fans.
Our home is centrally located in the small fishing town of Puerto Carrillo. It is walking distance from the local tiendas (groceries), restaurants, and internet café, and of course a beautiful beach. Samara is the next beach town 10 minutes away and provides more shopping, restaurants, and adventure tours. Playa Carrillo is one of the most desirable beaches in Costa Rica. This 2-mile long white sand beach is lined with palm trees that provide plenty of shade. Many mornings you can walk the entire beach and see only a handful of people. The horseshoe bay is protected from the rolling Pacific waves by a live coral reef which is perfect for snorkeling at low tide. The waves are usually very mild with no undertow, making it perfect for all ages. Surfers looking for bigger waves can go to Camaronal, the next beach south. Returning from the beach, you can rinse off in the outdoor shower and relax in our private infinity pool. The pool includes a swim up palapa bar with a mini-fridge for drinks and a gas barbeque grill. There is also a cold water Jacuzzi and a waterslide.
Getting to this pristine location is surprisingly easy. If you fly into Liberia International Airport, you can rent a car or charter a van to take you the 1.5 to 2 hour drive. The road is paved the entire way to the house, which is quite a luxury for Costa Rica. If you are flying into San Jose, the drive is approximately 4 hours. Flying from San Jose is 35 minutes on the local commuter airline, Sansa, which lands at an airstrip that is next to Carrillo Beach.
The main house has 3 bedrooms and three baths that sleep 8 people, and there is an additional apartment next to the house with two more bedrooms, bath and a full kitchen. Additionally, there are also 5 futons throughout the complex. Our on-site caretaker provides the conveniences of daily pool maintenance and light cleaning as well as local advice. Please indicate if you are interested in the house, the apartment, or both. Considerations may be made for groups of larger than 12 on an individual basis.
