Although the area is far from the city core, the house itself was certainly adequate, given our needs: ability to cook our own food, affordability, being removed from hotel tourists, and experiencing the culture. Carla met us promptly at the airport and transported us cheerfully and efficiently, providing us with a cell phone to use that she always answered for any purpose. Her husband had us back to the airport for our departure despite his busy schedule with no complaints at all. The house is well-appointed with all amenities listed, and photos depict it exactly. Great decorating! The only caveat is that we would strongly suggest that guests rent a car. Although the Jitney busses are a great experience and are SO inexpensive ($1.25 each way), they are unreliable (ours broke down when the radiator blew and we weren't sure where to go!) and their routes can change without notice, so you really need to have good spatial intelligence to know your surroundings! We were the sole white people in the district that we ever saw, but felt very safe and welcomed by locals who even pulled over to make sure we weren't lost. One lovely young woman drove us to a grocery store, waited while we shopped, and drove us home! Others provided us with touring advice to keep us away from the cruise ship throngs, and we had a great day at Junkanoo Beach on Good Friday with many Bahamian families. We LOVE the people and actually felt safer and more comfortable with them in Carla's neighbourhood than on the downtown "strip" with the drunken tourists. Just the same, it was recommended to us that we not venture out after dark downtown (I'd say the same for my Canadian city, however!) and without a car, taxis are a must, since the busses stop running at 6:30 PM. Cab fare is about $30-40 to Carla's from downtown.

Carla is very friendly and helpful, even taking me to the grocery store which was over and beyond in service and very much appreciated! The apartment is clean and the Wireless internet was exactly what I needed for my stay. The price for a two bedroom can't be beat and there is a bus service that goes quite close to the apartment that can take you where you need to go if you don't want to rent a car...I didn't really go anywhere as I was visiting for some quiet time to work on a project so I can't say much about the island itself. The apartment had everything needed to cook in, so there is no need to go out unless you want to. A few things beyond anyone's control that was a bit bothersome were loud animal noises in the night (I think it was a bird but not sure, along with cats) and the neighbors had what seemed to be a few fights while I was there - they were very loud at times. Despite that, I managed to finish my project and really appreciated the privacy of staying in Nassau at a good rate and especially thank Carla for the great service, including the ride to and from the airport.

The apartment is simple but pleasant. It was clean. It has Wifi which we really liked. We rented a car on the second day and found getting around on the island easy. Carla was very nice and helpful and had arranged for a pickup from the airport. She even gave us a cell phone in case we got ourselves lost! There is not much to do in the immediate neighborhood but with the rental car we were really able to explore everything and get to where we needed to be.Access to great beaches ( cabbage and jaws were our favored) is free and easy. We feel that we got a taste of the real Bahamas and its people( who are very friendly and helpful). We also felt that we got a good deal and can recommend this place and Carla and TJ.

We had a wonderful time staying here. TJ and Carla were more than hospitable and very helpful in answering all our questions. The photo's as well as the amenities in the listing are completely accurate. The property was clean and well maintained. The neighborhood was very quiet and we did not feel unsafe at any time. The only thing that I could complain about was the well water at the apartment. Unfortunately, I found it dyed a lot of our light colored clothing orange in the washer due to the rust in the water and I've had a heck of a time trying to get the stains out. Carla may have some tips and tricks for this though cause the towels were brilliant white and all the linens smelled lovely. The island locals were also very helpful and friendly and I recommend using the buses for transportation. I would recommend this place to anyone that doesn't mind being a little ways away from nearby attractions. It took us about 20 minutes on the #16 bus to get downtown by the cruiseships. That is pretty much where all the buses stop at some point so its easy to find your way from downtown. Always ask a police officer if you're unsure of what bus to take or what street you can catch a bus, their info was always reliable. If you can make your way over to the southwest side of the island to a place called Clifton Heritage Park, I highly recommend it, the plantation ruins were so awesome, that place is the best kept secret on the island, the taxi driver didn't even know it existed! New Providence was not our favorite island of the Bahamas that we visited this trip because unfortunately there is a lot of smelly trash along the roadside and also in the ocean at the beaches we visited (except Coral Bay and Clifton Point). Overall it was a very affordable stay, we had a blast, and will visit again.

I can't say enough about this property. It is clean, safe and centrally located away from the typical pricey hotels/resort. You can get around on the local transit, but I would recommend renting a vehicle (which was arranged for us when we rented the property - perfect). Best thing of all is the thoughful and caring attitude of our hosts. They have thought of all the necessities that you will need during your stay. The place is a great value for the pirce and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy the "entire" island.

Carla and TJ are Great. Very friendly and helpful. Carla will go out of her way to make your stay great. House is a simple two bedroom with all you need. Not hard to find even though driving can be interesting in Nassau. I will stay with them anytime I am in Nassau.

We are so lucky to have found Carla's apartment! Not only was Carla an incredibly thoughtful and helpful host, but the location also made for an enriching experience among the locals. We rode the jitney bus, drove around the island and explored the local attractions. It was a refreshing alternative to Nassau's resorts and provided ample comfort and adventure for our visit! Thanks for everything, Carla! :)

Very accomodating and very affordable! If you want to see Nassau on a budget, this is the place to stay! The owner/hostess, Carla, was so nice and accomodating to all of our needs. She picked us up at the airport even after our flight had been delayed due to poor weather in the US. The apartment was well appointed, and Carla had a few extras to make our stay comfortable. The rooms are air conditioned as well. You will need to rent a car to get around as the apartment is not close enough to walk to any of the beaches. The local bakery ("The Bakery") is an absolute must. However, takes Carl's suggestion on where to get groceries (as opposed to other guests comments) because gorceries are VERY expensive. The only complaint we had was some neighbors like to yell at one another, and kept us from being able to sleep a couple of nights.

My husband and I traveled to Nassau for the Christmas/New Years holiday and Junkano.o We had a wonderful time! The apartment was spacious and clean with an enclosed yard. Wi-Fi was available, but we decided not to bring out laptops!! But if you need to stay connected, its there! We did not rent a car, but we were able to catch a bus at the corner for $1.25 each way. The bus ride to downtown Nassau takes about 30 minutes or so, depending on traffic and the number of stops.Catching the bus back from downtown was easy also. The apartment is in a residential neighborhood with friendly neighbors. We never once felt unsafe in any way. Carla picked us up and dropped us off at the airport. Upon our arrival at the apartment, we found some drinks and pastry in the fridge. Carla also helped us to find our way and went out of her way to help us in any way she could to include taking us to the grocery store! We were provided with a cell phone for the duration of our stay, in case we needed to reach Carla. We were able to call family in the states throughout the week and they were able to reach us for not a lot of money. The phone was also programmed with numbers for tour/taxi drivers along with other numbers for attractions. The phone is a prepaid phone and its easy to find cards to add minutes. We were looking for a way to vacation at a reasonable cost and this was the perfect alternative! We wanted to travel away from "tourist" traps and experience the island as the locals do. We got to see much more of this beautiful island by venturing out on our own and saw sights that one may not see if they are downtown in a hotel! We would recommend this property to everyone! The photos accurately reflect the condition/appearance of the property. If you choose to stay here, you wont be disappointed!! We chose to stay here based on reviews from past guests and my husband and I hope that our experience will help you to chose this great place to stay!!

I feel like I'm going to sound like the President of Carla/T.J./Bahamas fan club, but I have nothing but glowing, wonderful things to say about our stay. Carla not only picked us up and dropped us off at the airport, but she came and rescued us when the bus dropped my husband and I off at the wrong intersection. The property is perfect -- right around the corner from a great bakery (coconut bread/rum cake - need I say more?) and the bus picks up at the end of the driveway. It was wonderful. The apartment has everything you would need -- a cell phone with pre-programmed numbers for fishing tours, cabs, Carla, T.J., etc. The kitchen is fully stocked - so are the bedrooms, etc. Cable TV as well for when you just want to relax at night. Air conditioning. I could go on - it was wonderful for our stay. Carla was a wonderful host, and I miss her and the Bahamas haha! My husband and I had the best time on the island exploring. Beautiful sites, beautiful people....I can't wait to come back! :)

Two of us stayed for only a long weekend but were made to feel as though we were the most important guests on the Island. Carla & TJ both went above and beyond. Attention to detail made it almost as good as having your own home with you on vacation. Navigating the Island with a great map but almost no road signs was a chanllenge. Upon returning to home I realized my GPS would have worked beautifully there. Daaaaaaa :) I would highly recomend this for anyone wanting to experience a local home away from home feel. Thanks again guys and come see us in Florida when you can. Martin - From Tampa Florida

I couldn't have chosen a better place to stay, affordable, and in the real Nassau. Get to feel like a local, and drive like one too. Very clean fully furnished, kitchen has all you need to cook while on your trip. The pictures don't do justice to the property. The neighbors are very nice and welcoming. Carla and TJ were more than helpful with the transport to and from the airport, as well as lending a phone for the island. I'm grateful to have found this as my place to stay, while you are there meet as many locals as you can, they all have a different idea of what's best on the island, goodmans bay beach is worth the visit, as well as the downtown world market area. Arawak Cay is a great place to visit for some of the local food. And of course the aquarium at Atlantis is out of this world.

What a warm welcome ,we stayed at Carlas place for a week fromAug. 7th to the 14th What a wonderful host. She was at the airport to pick us up even thogh the flight was over an hour late and she was so helpful, she took us to pick up our rental car and we followed her to the apt. where she had some baked goodies and local drinks waiting for us. She also had a pre-paid cell for that was pre-programed with some handy numbers for us. I could go on and on...wonderful experience beautiful island.

This place was a home away from home. It was nice and clean; the neighbors were friendly and Carla really took care of us. She went above and beyond by setting up a rental car for us, letting us use the beach umbrella, fold up chairs, BBQ Grill and ice chest. Washing machine and dryer also included. She checked up on us to make sure our stay was comfortable. She even had printed directions for us to restaurants, grocery stores and the mall. I would definitely rent again.

What a wonderful experience to stay in a home from home apartment. The property was spacious for two adults and provided everything we needed for lazy days at the beach. Carla & TJ were the most wonderful hosts, from the very point of booking our holiday through to taking us the airport (exceptionally early 5.30 am on the last day). Nothing was too much trouble and we were never made to feel like we were a nuisance which I am sure we were. Our only wish would be to have Carla & TJ on hand on every future holiday, we left feeling that we have made friends for life. For a true taste of Carribean flavour, this is the place for you, as it is situated a little out of town and car hire is a must.

This rental is everything it says. Carla and Tj are the kindest, most helpful people you could ever want when in a strange country. They pick up your rental car for you and pick you up at the airport and drive you to the apartment. There are local baked goods and sodas in the fridge upon arrival. The house has everything you need, including extra beach towels, cooler, umbrella for the beach, and a cell phone that is pre programmed with their number as well as others you may need like a taxi. The apartment is clean, and comfortable and everything works just the way it should. Carla and Tj would do anything for you! Great hosts. If you run out of gas, they would come get you. If you get lost driving, call and they will help. I also have a VRBO rental and I was blown away with this rental experience and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Our visit included a small family wedding. The bride prepared in the apartment and we did photos there and after the rehearsal we had some folks over for snacks. Having a place with lots of seats and a fully equipped kitchen made the whole experience easy and fun. The beds were comfortable and Carla was at our call when ever we needed something. She provided sheets for the air beds and some extra towels for extra people we had there on the weekend my only complaint was the apartment was booked the last two days of our stay and we had to find other accommodations.:( Thank you Carla our trip was amazing!

My husband and I prefer to explore on our own when on vacation, so this property and the car rental suited us perfectly. Carla and TJ were excellent hosts, providing pick up and drop off at the airport as well as good tips and treats! We visited the neighbourhood bakery, (yum) relaxed on deserted beaches (Coral Harbour) and found decent snorkelling directly off Flipper beach at Clifton Heritage Park. We would definately recommend this property to others.

"Very nice, comfortable and affordable accommodations in a quiet neighbourhood. All amenities are nearby and the people in the area are colorful, helpful and friendly. TJ and Carla are wonderful hosts and are accessible for any questions/guidance you may have about the area, etc. We really enjoyed touring around the Island in the car, finding quiet beaches and meeting new people. There's no way we would have had the same experiences if we had stepped off a cruise ship and just toured around Nassau and Paradise Island. This is the real Bahamas and best way to experience it and it's people, we would do it again in a heatbeat!"

Carla carried us to and from the airport and had the fridge stocked with local goodies (the guava duff is like heaven!). This apt and car are not only incredibly affordable, but they allowed us to see and live in the real Bahamas! Talk about immersion! Don't miss out on this great deal and awesome experience!

My best friend and I rented this apartment from TJ and Carla at the end of February. The apartment was very comfortable, quiet and convenient. We rented the car as well, which was a plus. We are not the "tourist" type and quickly became a part of the locals as we drove and immersed ourselves within our surroundings! The Bahamas is beautiful! We will be returning and can not phatom staying any where else other than at TJ and Carla's apartment! We feel as if it is our home away from home! If you are considering traveling to the Bahamas, this is where you need to stay! BTW - Carla is the best...friendly, very thoughtful and caring as most Bahamians we encountered.

would do it again in a heartbeat! We we're the first renters back in oct 08 and the service provided by carla and TJ surpassed anything we expected. Airport pick up was pre-arranged, house was spotless, snacks were provided on arrival and any questions you have they can answer. I strongly recommend taking the car as you will need it to get around the island. Any concerns or needs you have they are happy to address. Don't forget to check out Potter's Cay for a real bahamian experience!

We make several trips to Nassau per year and were delighted to find this property. We have stayed here twice now in the past two months and hopefully will have the priviledge of staying again within the next month. We find the property very comfortable and well equipped. It is in a nice, quiet neighborhood. We have also utilized the car and it has proven to be very convenient for us. The owners of the house are great people and are very accommodating. We have enjoyed this apartment.
