Cascina La Famó, set in a peaceful, rural location about a kilometer from the small hilltop village of San Marzano Oliveto, is a fully-renovated, 200 year old farmhouse that is surrounded by vineyards on all sides. Situated in the heart of Italy's most productive wine region, Cascina La Famó is in an ideal place from which to explore the attractions of this unique region. There are many excellent restaurants nearby - two of them within walking distance - as well as numerous wine-producers that offer tours and wine tastings.
The wine towns of Nizza Monferrato and Canelli are both about a 10 minute drive away. Larger towns such as Alba, Asti and Acqui Terme are all within easy reach. Genoa and Turin are both about an hour away, and Milan can be reached in 90 minutes. To the south the beaches of the Italian Riviera are a day trip away, while the mountains on the border with France are about a 90 minute drive to the west.
The beautiful, unspoiled 5 hectare (12.5 acre) estate at Cascina La Famó includes 2.5 hectares of organic hazelnut trees as well as Moscato and Freisa vineyards, apple orchards and numerous olive trees.
Our 45 square meter (450 square foot) first-floor apartment sleeps 3 and has views over the neighboring vineyards. It has high chestnut-beamed ceilings that give an airy, spacious feel, and includes a sitting / dining room with a separate kitchen area, a double bedroom and a modern bathroom with a large shower.
Our 84 square meter swimming pool includes a shallow 'relax zone': the main swimming area of 15 x 5 meters has a constant depth of 1.4 meters. The pool is surrounded by a large stone terrace with fine views, equipped with sun loungers, umbrellas and a changing cabin. The pool is open to guests between May 10th and October 10th each year.
In addition to the pool terrace, the apartment has the exclusive use of an adjacent first-floor outdoor terrace that is equipped with a table, 4 chairs and a large sun umbrella.

A wonderful palce to explore Nothern Italy

A quiet and pretty home in which to unwind after a day of beautiful experiences. A 2 hr. drive from Lake Maggiore to the north or Porto Fino to the south. Surrounded by working vineyards, gently rattling hazlenut tress, fine retaurants (the best we found in Italy) magnificent views. The owners speak perfect English and are quite friendly and helpful. Wonderful pool for the surprisingly warm days in Sept. Wish we were stiil there.
Recommended for:Age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
