Location: Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA (15 minutes direct subway ride to Manhattan, Union Square)

Accommodations:  Apartment, Studio + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-3)

Keywords:  Private Apartment

This tastefully renovated 400 sq. ft. apartment has a private entrance and windows that face the street. It is furnished with a queen-sized bed, bureau, nightstands, a dining/writing table and a full kitchenette. The space is decorated with country antiques, giving it a warm feel with a modern sensibility. Period touches include: white subway and hexagonal tiles in the bathroom, wainscoting on the walls, and the original wood floors. A large dressing area with generous closet space divides the main room from a spacious bathroom, which includes all new fixtures and a huge walk-in shower.

As a bonus to our guests, we have also recently purchased a digital video movie player for the studio that gives you instant access to hundreds of films & a large selection of popular television series/shows. A lovely way to unwind after a long day of sightseeing in the city!

Straddling the neighborhoods of Bushwick, Brooklyn and Ridgewood, Queens, the studio is 5 blocks away from the Dekalb Street 'L' train station in Brooklyn—one of the best subway lines in the city. Union Square, the heart of downtown Manhattan, is only 15 minutes away via a direct subway ride; Williamsburg, Brooklyn's stylish boutiques, bars and restaurants are only a 7 minute train ride away. Ours is a quieter, more residential neighborhood. It is safe and ethnically diverse, with plenty of it's own charms—like local Italian bakeries, Halal butcher shops, Equadorian bodegas, Polish food markets and the best tasting Mexican tamales we've ever come across.

In recent years, the conversion of a number of buildings and factories in the area to artists live/work lofts has brought an influx of businesses—including the first stylish café, gallery, and restaurant/late-night lounge, all of which are walking distance from the studio.

So nice!

Guest: Christel & Hans (Rotterdam, Holland)

The studio is nice and pleasant, well equipped and has a nice personal touch to it (which so many 'commercial' apartments lack). The bed is excellent (very important) and we would like to have the bathroom in our own house. The studio reflects the owners who redesigned it: charming, welcome and with eye for detail. The residential area in which it is located makes you realise there is more to New York than Manhattan. Dear Kermit and Azadeh, thank you for your warm welcome. It was a pleasure to stay in the studio and it felt like 'our house' in New York.

We had such a wonderful stay here and wish we didn't have to leave. Everything was perfect, the area was great and close to everything. Thank you both for being so helpful and opening up your home to us. We will definitely be back. This place made our trip perfect -- so cozy, warm, inviting and decorated perfectly.

Another wonderful time on Stockholm St!

I just recently visited NYC for the second time and had no doubt in my mind we would rent Kermit's unit again. Once again the unit was absolutely beautiful. The neighborhood was quiet and clean. We decided to bring our 3 1/2 month old daughter Gaia and we pleasantly surprised by the portable crib that was left for us to use during our stay. I was so grateful, one less thing to lug around! Hope to visit NYC again in June and stay on Stockholm St for the 3rd time. Please consider this unit when planning to visit NYC, it is very reasonable considering how much a so-so hotel with taxes and fees will cost you per night. You will not be disappointed.

Stay of August 2010

Guest: Gail & Ron (West Chester, PA, USA)
Date of Stay: 08/08/10 Review Submitted: 08/25/10

We recently spent five nights in this cute efficiency apartment on the edge of Brooklyn and Queens. We were in New York for the wedding of our son and needed a place to stay in the days leading up to that. The apartment is small but very nicely decorated and very clean. The little kitchen area worked well for us as we were able to keep some things in the fridge and eat there if we didn't feel like going out. The microwave is handy when you have leftovers. The bed is comfortable and there is plenty of closet space. The bathroom was large and the shower worked well. The weather was very hot during our stay but the apartment was kept cool by the window AC. We used the subway several times and it was an easy walk from the apartment. We were also able to drive around the area to do things (Louis Armstrong's home), our son's neighborhood in Brooklyn and Roberta's for pizza (very good). The neighborhood is quiet and we felt comfortable staying there. I even walked to the local laundromat one day. We took our laptop and had no problem plugging into the wireless connection in the apartment. I woud recommend this property for a single person or couple. You can access Manhattan via the subway or if you have a car there was available free parking on the streets near the apartment. Best of all the rate makes a trip to New York reasonable

An stylish and comfortable apartment, perfect for two even with little children, with a subway stop five minutes away; from Dekalb stop we were in Manhattan in twenty minutes. You have a good supermarket very close, and a great place to have breakfast a little further: Barceys. The area is quiet and safe; we were back late night often. A place to repeat.

A very good place to stay

I stayed at the studio for a week. The space was well maintained, everything was so clean. The bed was so comfy, sheets nice, bathroom and kitchen modern. I was travelling for business, and I had my own devices; but the wireless internet access was a life-saver, too! Felt very safe The studio has everything that one needs and it's located close to a number of amenities as well as to the subway station (10 min walk). Thus I had a very pleasant stay even though I was unfamiliar with the area. Plus, the owners couldn't have been more helpful and went out of their way to make my stay a positive experience. I would definitely recommend this property for anyone who is visiting NYC!

Absolutely Wonderful!

Date of Stay: 12/02/09 Review Submitted: 12/13/09

Thank you so much, Kermit and Azadeh, for making our trip to New York the best! My friend and I, both in our 20s and on a budget, were so pleasantly surprised with this place- the pictures are great and it was even better in person! The studio was warm, cozy, and beautiful, and the owners only made it better with their kindness and suggestions about where to go and what to do. The studio was immaculate, the location good (only 5 blocks from the subway station) and the accomodities were more than perfect. The iPod player was really helpful for us, since we like to play music, but we were barely there (since we were exploring the city) so we didn't even take advantage of the dvd player, which was a nice touch as well. I am so lucky that we found this place- don't know what we would have done if we didn't! I would highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for a classy, comfortable stay in the city, especially if you are traveling on a budget and can't afford Manhattan but want to be close enough to a subway station. Thank you again! If I get to come to New York in the future your studio will be the first place I have in mind to stay! :)
