This was our last stop on a trip from Washington to Portland. We stayed three nights and absolutely loved every second of this home. We were a group of four adults, two of which were a couple. The small bedrooms where i stayed had THE MOST COMFORTABLE bed i have ever slept in, I will be asking the owner for the name of that mattress so I can buy one! The rental is about 20 minutes from town and close to great hiking trails. It is nestled in the woods and you almost feel like you are in a five star cabin in the wilderness! You will not need to bring anything, the kitchen is stocked, the pillows are amazing, lines, even spices and such. This place was so homie and comfortable we really wanted to extend our stay just to hang out one more day. The price was amazing and everything was so clean. again.... I could go on for ever but ill stop now. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Oh if you do go out on the town and need to cab it back, It ran us about 30,00, well worth itRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our vacation in Oregon, having a inviting home base from which to start our travels. The kitchen with refrigerator provided us with the ability to prepare breakfast to our tastes and diet at our leisure. The surroundings are as picture perfect as we could want. It gave us the feeling of being (almost) alone in the forest with everything oh so green. We could come back after an exhausting day and fix something to eat if we wanted, or just relax. The kids had lots of fun playing on the foosball table or watching TV. Sleeping was luxurious on the softest sheets I have ever felt. When we come back to the Beaverton area for another vacation, we want to stay here!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband, 1st grader, toddler and my mother-in-law stayed here for 3 nights. It was a great place to stay for all of us. We thought about staying in a hotel, but with a loud and unpredictable toddler, I was worried we'd get complaints. Being above a garage, I knew we'd be safe! The rental is spacious and comfortable. It was very clean and had all of the amenities we needed. The upper two rooms are a bit small, and very dark, but they worked well for my daughter. The welcome basket was great, as well as all of the recommendations about local dining. My kids loved playing in the yard, the play structure, zip-line and chickens were their favorites. It is a little bit out of the way, but definitely a great place to stay in the Portland area.Recommended for: Families with young children

The home was spacious, extremely well maintained, and equipped with everything we needed. It's a short drive from Portland and surrounded by woodlands and a gorgeous view. The owner made our family feel very welcome. The large property has beautiful landscaping - - ponds, waterfalls, frogs, chickens, and a really nice play area for kids. It was everything we were looking for. Highly recommend.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I stayed here along with a couple of other ladies this past weekend while we were in Portland on business. It was so much more comfortable and relaxing than staying in a hotel. Everything was very clean. The master bedroom is very large and the fireplace by the bed was a special treat. We loved the deck off of the master and the beautiful view. We would definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This space was large, peaceful and had all the amenities one would need for a week long stay in Portland. Great outdoor fun (zip line, play structure) and many towering pines surround the rental. Twenty minutes to Portland. Twenty minutes to Hillsboro/Beaverton. Remote location is great place to get away from the noise, hustle of the city.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway.

My husband, adult daughter and I stayed for three nights in early January. The apartment/loft was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well furnished for preparing meals, the bed was comfortable and the steam shower was an unexpected treat. It's a bit out of the way for central Portland, but very beautiful and quiet in the forest. I would recommend this rental.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Stayed with my young daughters for a couple of nights. Was a little nervous about the commute to town, but it was suprisingly close and a very fun ride for the kids! Beautiful fall colors and the property was perfect. Everything we needed was there, and the house was very warm and homey. This lovely garage apartment set amid the trees had everything we needed in our home away from home! We stayed here last year and enjoyed it so much, we rebooked for this year. In these clean, quiet, and spacious quarters, we were refreshed for the next full day of activity. We appreciated the gracious hospitaility extended in all the "extras" provided by our hosts. We look forward to staying here again next year if our schedule permits!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

It is obvious that the owners take pride in caring for their home and for their renters. The home was as described and more. The guest home is built over a garage. It appears to have been an office and somepoint. It is 15-20 minutes from downtown, up on a hill/mountain, in a beautiful wooded area. This home is very family friendly, even with toys, books, high chair, stroller and play ground. The kids rooms are large closet sized with sloping ceilings one has a full size bed and the other has a queen bed. The beds are very comfortable. The kitchen has an oven, cooktop and microwave. No dishwasher. It meets the basic needs for meal prep. The kitchen is in the same area with the couch and tv. We had a great stay here and would recommend it.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Since their visit, we have upgraded the beds to one king and two full sized beds. Also we have installed a dishwasher.

Thank you for providing such a beautiful place. The landscaping is wonderful. The unit itself was nicely equipped. The quality is what we are accustomed to. Not always what you get in a rental. We loved the steam shower. Thank you for the nice bottle of wine and snacks. We had an excellent getaway with our Son and little Granddaughter. Very kid friendly place. Large indoor space. Plenty of room to run and play. We enjoyed the balcony. We had our dinners there. Our granddaughter loved the play structure. She was interested in but somewhat afraid of the chickens even tho they were fenced in. The neighbors mules ran right passed our balcony (on the other side of the fence) and she loved that. She even saw a little frog near the play structure. That was exciting for her. We explored your "Secret Garden". It is beautiful. So peaceful to hear the waterfall. We went outside at night to see the stars. This was a real nature's paradise for a little city girl. She said we were in the forrest. She wants to come to the "forrest house" again. Even if we had not had a child with us we would have thoroughly enjoyed this quiet retreat. We do hope your beautiful place is available when we plan our next visit. We would love to stay here again. Do know there are a lot of steps to climb in case that is a problem for you. Thanks again, Joe and BrendaRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Would like to thank owners especially for the beautiful basket of delicious wine and chocolate. The guest house is spacious, clean and beautiful. The only problem for me personally was the distance, not far from downtown but alot of traffic in Portland and on the hill at rush hour. If you are interested in nightlife downtown I would take this under consideration for driving purposes. That said, very relaxing and pleasant property!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway.

We moved away from Oregon and wanted to stay somewhere that was quiet and beautiful. This place was everything it advertised and more. We have two small kids and there were tons of books, toys and games for them to play as well as a play structure, couldn't have been better. Nice space, clean, huge, we will be back. As great as it is for kids, it's an adult paradise off the beaten track.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway.

We were looking for a retreat from the bustle of Chicago and found it here amongst the nature and charm of Portland and the warmth of the Bryant- Santos cottage. Although a bit of a drive from downtown, this was exactly what we were looking for. The home is spacious, accommodating and so family friendly. Our 5 yr. old daughter delighted in their play structure but took the most joy from the family's two friendly dogs, mules and chickens. It's a beautiful haven close to the city and we would recommend it to everyone!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay in this well maintained and comfortable guest house. We spent most of our daytime in the city itself, and it was nice to come away each evening to the quiet and relaxed atmosphere this property offers. We consider the listed pictures and description to be accurate, and would be happy to repeat the visit. This was our second VRBO experience, and we find it so much more satisfying than a hotel stay.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Our (husband and wife) only regret was not being able to stay longer. This is a beautiful guest house that's very comfortable, upscale and inviting. The grounds are immaculate, the deck - with view - is perfect for eating outdoors, the Internet connection fast and easy (important for us!). It was a good base for our touring around Portland and the area - not right in the middle of the city, but within 20-30 minutes of anything we'd want. There are nice hiking trails right there and some great road bike rides for those so inclined!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The experience we had at this rental was superb. It is beautiful, clean and overall an experience to remember. The most accurate description is that it is an adult treehouse. It's beautiful! This place is also perfect for children. We have two young children who did not want to leave and continue to ask about when we are returning to Oregon. The owners of the property are friendly, courteous and helpful in every single way. This rental is close enough to downtown Portland so that you may experience the city daily if you would like but the rental is nestled on a mountainside so that you can also experience "country life" without going far. It is the best mix of both worlds. We have recommended this place to all of our friends and will be returning as soon as possible.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

From this residence you can visit the city of Portland (jetboats, Powell's bookshop) after a 15 minute drive and many other nice places to visit within a 1 hour drive like the Multanomah Falls and many others. We are from So Cal wanted to getway from the hot triple digit weather! This was just an amazng find for our family. We had adult children that slept in the two bedrooms and found the beds very nice, although the room was small but had a pleasureable sleep. The sound system was a nice treat and ate breakfast on the deck while listening to music. The surroundings were just amazing and wish we had more time to spend at your place but we were out seing the sights. I love the openess of the floor plan. You have designed it very well with good use of space. It is close enough to town yet we were in the woods! I will definitely come back again! Thank you for you hospitality and Gordon was a pleasure to talk to!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Outstanding space, perfect for a family visit to Portland. The hosts were very attentive, personable and professional... when we arrived we were greeted with a gift basket and a warm handshake from the owner, and the space was immaculately clean with all the conveniences of home. My four year old daughter made an immediate friend with the host's four year old son, and to my family this locale felt like "home away from home." The master bedroom is very large, and the deck is perfect for enjoying dinner or a glass of wine. Great hardwood floors and excellent shower / steamroom. The two additional bedrooms are small but perfect for kids, and the backyard play structure is an excellent amenity for young children. Lastly, the location is gorgeous - feels like a mountain retreat but is only 15-20 minutes from downtown. The only word of caution I might offer is that if it's your goal to spend a lot of time in the heart of the city, you may aim for a closer locale. In short, especially for the price, this place is outstanding and highly recommended.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

We enjoyed our stay at this loft so much that we did less sight-seeing than we normally do when we travel to a new location! That is because the loft is in a very beautiful, peaceful, and quiet setting that it is hard to leave! There are places to sit and read or have conversation, both inside and out on the deck, and there is a comfy couch for watching tv. We crossed the Atlantic for a 4 months stay in the States to explore the West Coast. To visit friends and family we were looking for an accommodation in the Portland area for the first 1 1/2 week. Back in The Netherlands we found and booked this property via the internet. What a surprise when we arrived. Based on the info from the web and the communication with Bryant we already had a very positive impression. But actually being here exceeded our expectations. It's just a lovely and beautiful accommodation. It’s spacious, comfortable, well equipped, has a nice atmosphere, great view, at a nice location, near Portland down town. What else to say. We’ve had, despite we were here in the ‘rain season’, a wonderful time. We really feel blessed that we could start our trip from here.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We recently stayed at this rental and it was great! We arrived later at night and the owner came out to greet us and to say hello. He was kind and welcoming. We were very impressed with the rental as it was clean, big, warm and inviting. There was plenty of room, a full kitchen, a nice bathroom with a steam shower and an amazing view. My son had his own room and slept very well as the home and surroundings are very quiet. The master bedroom is cozy with a fireplace and a really comfy bed! You are about 15-20 min away from the downtown area. The owner was kind enough to give us some extra gas since we almost ran out and the closet gas station is no longer in business. Overall, a nice and relaxing time! Thank you!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had our grandson stay with us for a few days and it was absolutely perfect due to the fact that you had a high chair, toys, and other things we needed for him and had not prepared for. The only thing we had to provide was our food! The kitchen was fully equiped with everything we needed to make our meals, and our stay very comfortable. We loved our stay here. The kids had tons of fun on the play structure and walking around the gated-in pond. The house was very spacious and well equipped. Owners were very hospitable. We will return! Couple things people may want to know: 1. Must go up many steps to get into the house. 2. There is only a half fridge in the unit and no freezer - but a full size fridge/freezer is available in the laundry out back. 3. Access to the property is up long winding mountain roads. None of these things posed a problem for us, but I thought this info might help someone else. The house was really fantastic to stay in and the grounds are so relaxing and beautiful. Owners were very kind to our kids, as were the dogs! Love the well-stocked toy shelves in the bedroom.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Girl's weekend and 4 of us shared this great space. We enjoyed the big couch and DVD player in the evening and had morning coffee on the deck. It is a drive from Portland but as we were out much of the day, it was an awesome place to return 'home' to.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had the pleasure to stay in this vacation rental for a week this summer (2010) while visiting our son in Portland. The house is spacious, clean, and has a fully equipped kitchen. We immediately felt comfortable and would have enjoyed staying for a bit longer . The guest house is located outside Portland right next to Forrest Park, which offers easy trails of any length and where you might take a walk and kick back. The property is quiet and peaceful and the owner's two friendly Swiss mountain dogs greet you when you come back from a day trip. The patio is a nice extra where you might have breakfast, rest or read. If you are visiting Portland and don't need walking distance to bustling Portland neighborhoods, this vacation rental is an excellent choice.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

We loved the loft apartment with wonderful nature surrounding, making it quite a bit seclusive and romantic. It has everything we needed. Owners helped us via emails/phone call when we got little lost (Mapquest didn't do its job properly, be forewarned!) and we appreciated them helping us at a late hour. A drive to downtown Portland was relatively short and convenient. We saw the chickens, to our delights as we don't often seen them running around in the backyard (this is not a farm, just a private residential home). Their dogs were friendly. We'd be coming back in the near future for sure!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The photos accurately reflect this guest house. My husband and I stayed for a week and found it to be very peaceful and just as described. Very nice to be 20 minutes from downtown and to come back to a lovely quiet setting. Nice view from the deck, and a lovely garden to sit in and read. Easy walking distance to beautiful Forest Park with miles of hiking trails.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Our stay at the loft in Forest Park was the highlight of our four-day trip to Portland, and we have shared our experience with several friends. Originally, my picture of us in the city was eating out a lot, visiting popular sites, and hopping around. My wife was so comfortable at the loft - the peaceful. quiet surroundings - that we changed our plans. Yes, we did the city thing, somewhat, but we spent most of our time at home, invited friends up to share the space with us, hung out and relaxed. It was a great mini-vacation! So thank you Family Santos...we'll be back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing.

we stayed at the loft apt for a family event in portland. only 20min from the city or to the outlying areas of beaverton/hillsboro. the apt is spacious and the neighbors are great. an added bonus of swingset, yard, chickens and horses! i was able to have extended family over for dinner. it made our visit to portland the best. thanks bryant and amy, susan and gordonRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What beautiful accomodations. Not only was the loft great and had everything we could possibly need, the grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed a tour of the gardens with Bryant and Devon. We enjoyed the view of the city lights, the beautiful setting and the friendly dogs, horses and mule. Our hosts are a wonderful family and truly make you feel comfortable. It was a great place to host my Granddaughters High School graduation party . My young granddaughter who accompanied us on our long trip commented it was the best part of her vacation. She is an animal lover and soon made friends with the dogs and horses. She enjoyed playing with Devon and chatting with our hosts. I will return to Portland on my next trip and hopefully, I will be able to stay in the loft again. It was very clean, the listing describes the loft accurately and the pictures did reflect the rental's appareance. One needs to see the property for themselves to truly understand what a wonderful place it is. It is a well kept secret. Thanks for everything. We came to Portland to spend some time with a couple of our kids and our grandkids who live there. We couldn't have picked a more perfect place to stay! When we were alone together we enjoyed the romance of the fireplace in the bedroom with the twinkling city lights and stars out the window. Then we had the 4 grandkids and one son overnight. Again, perfect. The children played on the play structure (we sat on the deck and watched them below), we went for a walk in the beautiful neighborhood and enjoyed the dogs. We watched movies, made meals and visited. It couldn't have been more comfortable or lovely. We didn't take advantage of the hot tub but we plan to stay there again on our next visit we will bring swimsuits! The Santos' provided a goodie basket with wine and other yummies along with directions to local stores etc. A thoughtful addition. Thank you!Did you find this review helpful?
