Why the Owner Chose Chatham
Our roots are here. Ed's ancestors include fishermen, a sea captain or two, carpenters, talented musicians,a stage coach driver, a member of the life saving service (Surfmen) and even an indian or two. We didn't buy a vacation home; we built a family residence for us and an apartment for a parent. Now we are retiring and downsizing. We rent the property seasonaly only and live nearby.
The Unique Benefits at this House
This neighborhood is beautiful, old, peaceful and rural with many large trees and big house lots. It is not a subdivision; the houses are each unique and the architecturall styles vary. There are lots of places to walk. We can easily walk to 3 town landings/small beaches. It is only 1.3 miles from downtown Chatham and only slightly longer to Chatham Light Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, we are sure. There is a very private back yard (can't see nieghbors) with south facing deck (a great place for morning coffee and planning your day). Ed is a builder and property is beautifully maintained. The main house has hardwood floors and oriental rugs. It is very light and bright, especially kitchen and upstairss with their cathedral ceilings.
Owner's Map of Chatham
We are Ed & Pat Eldridge. Pat is a retired assistant clerk of courts and Ed is a semi-retired builder. Our home was custom built in 1985/6 by a great local builder (Earle Kendrick), with help from Ed, then redone in 2005-6. Property is routinely upgraded. In 1985, Ed built the 2 large fireplaces brick by brick, sometimes until 4 AM while still working a full time job. We lived there 20 years.

The owners have thought of everything that you could possibly need in this immaculate, well-kept and peaceful property. The house sits on a lovely, private parcel of land among other very nice homes. The layout of the house worked well for our group of six, with plenty of space, both in and around the home to relax. There is a nice yard for kids to play in, just off the deck and kitchen area. Lots of great nearby walks. An excellent choice and we hope to be back next year!
Owner response:We welcome this family back and are pleased they enjoyed their stay. They took exceptional care of the house. We are fortunate they selected our property for their vacation.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers.

we stayed in this beautiful home for one month - It is located in a residential part of Chatham and was perfect for walking, biking, and getting into town easily. The yard was beautiful with continuous flowering plants and shrubs and was a mecca for all sorts of colorful birds. The owners took great pride in maintaining the property and were very hospitable and welcoming.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers.

A lovely, spacious home with the chance to sit quietly and watch a dozen species of birds come and feed at the bird feeders, sharing happily with squirrels and chipmunks. Gorgeous rhodedendrons filling the yard. Waking to the sound of birds chirping and the waves in the distance. Yes, a bit of heaven. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. It was a perfect place to "respite" with our adult children after having celebrated the graduation of one of our sons. Time to bike (rental very nearby) and have a root beer float in Chatham. Tremendous dinner places. I only wish we had a few weeks to fully enjoy the offerings of the home. Stay there again? Without a doubt.

This was the perfect rental, clean, bright, and well equipped with a delightful garden. Set back from the road and accessed by a shady track meant it was both quiet and private. The surrounding trees were home to hundreds of birds that fed constantly at the bird feeders - a joy to watch. The games room in the basement was a real bonus, too. The town and a bathing beach were both within walking distance but not close - although a very easy cycle ride. The owners kindly left details of a number of circular walks that gave much closer access to the shore. If we return to Cape Cod we would most definitely stay there again."

Perfect vacation home for a family of 4 who are travelling with parents or another couple as we were. The set up of separate home for the inlaws was perfect for us. The house is immaculate and tastefully furnished. KItchen was well stocked with all needed applicances and the location was indeed very private and quiet. We loved the game room in the basement with the ping pong table and air hockey table. The owners were also very helpful with suggesting nearby activities and restaurants. I loved this home!

We had a great time at this lovely home. The game room downstairs was fantastic and nice and cool. The kids shot a lot of pool and played alot of ping pong. We enjoyed the peaceful tranquility of being set back from the street, and the house had everything we needed, including two flat screen tvs. We would definitely rent here again.l
Owner response:This was another wonderful family who took exceptional care of the property while enjoying all it offers. They are certainly welcome back.

This lovely home was immaculately clean and spacious. The furnishings were most comfortable and gave a special warmth and charm to a New England quiet get-away visit. Our two children and their spouses loved it as well.
