Relax in this charming, spacious, three bedroom house in a prime location on Linden Avenue. This quaint boutique and restaurant lined street stretches right to the beach. Everyone loves Linden Avenue.
The Linden House has appeared in many coffee table photo books of the Santa Barbara area, because of it's charming appearance and very special location in town. Surrounded by quaint restaurants and boutiques & the perfect strolling distance to the beach; you cannot beat this location. View our short video clip showing the street view of the house & a partial walk through of the house interior. The inside resonates with relaxed coastal style. Truly a unique and special treasure to be enjoyed by family and friends.
Stroll several blocks down Linden to enjoy the "worlds safest" beach or hop on the village electric shuttle right in front of the house for .25 cents. The beach stretches for miles and offers a fluffy, sandy beach that is great for swimming, seal watching and tidepool exploration.
...Stroll out the front door to dine at one of more than a dozen restaurants within a stones throw of the house. Al Fresco dining is enjoyed here year round due to our mild climate. Relax on the private side porch. The outdoor curtains provide a private, cabana feeling. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Most of the town's special events happen right in front of the house, i.e. the weekly Thursday farmers market year round, First Fridays of the month Linden celebration, the Avocado festival, Rods n Roses old car show, holiday parades.

Stayed for 4 nights during October 2011. The house is very charming with creaky wood floors, a lovely porch for having a glass of wine and watching folks out walking, and ample parking in the back. The property has bikes that are perfect for tooling around town. But the house is located within easy walking distance of everything. The house has a great dining room for sharing a meal or stroll down Linden Ave to several great restaurants. The Corktree Bistro is a great spot for a glass of wine and "Little Bits of Heaven" - trust me they are good. Or visit the Reynaldos Bakery for great pastry and some of the best tamales I have ever had. Sunday morning with Mimosas, pastry and tamales on the front porch - perfect! We dropped by Reynaldos as we left town and took 24 tamales home with us. There is just one large bathroom but the 5 adults we had staying managed nicely.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

We really enjoyed our stay: - breakfast/brunch at Shoreline Cafe is a great way to start your day. Sambo's is nice also, but not right on the beach. -Santa Barbara Landshark is a nice tour and highlights places to revisit in town. -morning runs on the beach are a great way to start off, especially when it was 14 degrees and snowing at home. -Solvang is a nice day trip - plenty of food, shopping and wine tasting rooms. The casino is close also. -Movie theaters are in Santa Barbara if you want to see a flick. -The Palm restaurant next door is really nice and you can cook your own steak/meat yourself. Lots of food and good prices. -went to LA after the Rose Parade to see the parked floats. -the Santa Barbara Zoo is nice. -Botanical gardens were nice. Back to NY and the cold and snow. We are going to stop at the Reagan Library and Malibu before flying home from LAX. Mike, Jean, Laura and DanDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1

Thank you Linden House for a wonderful Christmas!! The sea theme Christmas tree was a real treat as we entered the house. From Colorado to Laguna Beach we loved our special holiday in the aqua marine and white decor of the Linden House. What a wonderful time we had staying at the Linden House. How lucky we found this special place to share w/our family. Our son is a freshman @ UCSB and we thought we'd travel to California for Thanksgiving w/our daughter and share the holidays here. We spent Thanksgiving serving food @ the salvation army in Santa Barbara. Met so many great people. Carpinteria is a treasure filled w/wonderful rest & easy access to the beach. Maybe our favorite place is Reynaldos Bakery - Yummmm! So worth the calories! Maybe because we're from the east coast we find all the mexican food delicious. Reynaldos has breakfast and reg. burritos. If you go to Santa Barbara take a visit to Yogurtland on State Street. Thanks for all the special touches in the house. Hope to be back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1

We have been tent camping in Carpinteria since we were 7 yrs. old (56 yrs.) I was so sad because we could not get reservations this year. Then my husband surprised me by renting the Linden House for our 43rd anniversary. I have loved this house for years and when it was a store - Hollyhock Cottage- I was able to see the wonderful cottage. Its perfect! It has so much character and I love people watching from the porch. We have adopted three of our grandchildren, 3, 10 and 12, so they have been able to enjoy the house too. If you ever sell please let us know, maybe he'll surprise me again. Thanks for sharing!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1

Despite the persistent June gloom, we had a wonderful week. The house is furnished beautifully and is well situated. Recommend: La Casitas water park Ojai for sun when the gloom is here & fun for children. Wednesday kareoke night in Giovanni's pizza is fun. Outdoor movie night in the grassy area by the beach on Thursdays 8PM is really really fun but wear a sweater it's cold! Final tip: check out the timetable at the surf shop and see the seals - loads of them. We went at 7:00AM and it was amazing!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

Why the Owner Chose Carpinteria:
The first time I saw Linden Avenue it struck me as one of the most charming downtown streets in all of California rivaled only by La Jolla village & Carmel by the sea. Truly an old fashioned California beach town. Linden Avenue ends right at the beach.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I love the house location, wraparound porch & immaculate front lawn and garden; it is a very special spot in town. The beach, grocery, farmers market, restaurants and shops are all on Linden Avenue within a stones throw. There is also a charming old fashioned train depot that can sweep you off for a day trip, one stop away, into Santa Barbara. You can park your car and go without it for the entire stay. The street and house are absolutely full of charm.
