Stayed for 4 nights during October 2011. The house is very charming with creaky wood floors, a lovely porch for having a glass of wine and watching folks out walking, and ample parking in the back. The property has bikes that are perfect for tooling around town. But the house is located within easy walking distance of everything. The house has a great dining room for sharing a meal or stroll down Linden Ave to several great restaurants. The Corktree Bistro is a great spot for a glass of wine and "Little Bits of Heaven" - trust me they are good. Or visit the Reynaldos Bakery for great pastry and some of the best tamales I have ever had. Sunday morning with Mimosas, pastry and tamales on the front porch - perfect! We dropped by Reynaldos as we left town and took 24 tamales home with us. There is just one large bathroom but the 5 adults we had staying managed nicely.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We really enjoyed our stay: - breakfast/brunch at Shoreline Cafe is a great way to start your day. Sambo's is nice also, but not right on the beach. -Santa Barbara Landshark is a nice tour and highlights places to revisit in town. -morning runs on the beach are a great way to start off, especially when it was 14 degrees and snowing at home. -Solvang is a nice day trip - plenty of food, shopping and wine tasting rooms. The casino is close also. -Movie theaters are in Santa Barbara if you want to see a flick. -The Palm restaurant next door is really nice and you can cook your own steak/meat yourself. Lots of food and good prices. -went to LA after the Rose Parade to see the parked floats. -the Santa Barbara Zoo is nice. -Botanical gardens were nice. Back to NY and the cold and snow. We are going to stop at the Reagan Library and Malibu before flying home from LAX. Mike, Jean, Laura and Dan

Thank you Linden House for a wonderful Christmas!! The sea theme Christmas tree was a real treat as we entered the house. From Colorado to Laguna Beach we loved our special holiday in the aqua marine and white decor of the Linden House. Xmas 2010 Amy, Leslie, Kylee, Lauren, Colin, Noelle and Kaia

What a wonderful time we had staying at the Linden House. How lucky we found this special place to share w/our family. Our son is a freshman @ UCSB and we thought we'd travel to California for Thanksgiving w/our daughter and share the holidays here. We spent Thanksgiving serving food @ the salvation army in Santa Barbara. Met so many great people. Carpinteria is a treasure filled w/wonderful rest & easy access to the beach. Maybe our favorite place is Reynaldos Bakery - Yummmm! So worth the calories! Maybe because we're from the east coast we find all the mexican food delicious. Reynaldos has breakfast and reg. burritos. If you go to Santa Barbara take a visit to Yogurtland on State Street. Thanks for all the special touches in the house. Hope to be back!

We have been tent camping in Carpinteria since we were 7 yrs. old (56 yrs.) I was so sad because we could not get reservations this year. Then my husband surprised me by renting the Linden House for our 43rd anniversary. I have loved this house for years and when it was a store - Hollyhock Cottage- I was able to see the wonderful cottage. Its perfect! It has so much character and I love people watching from the porch. We have adopted three of our grandchildren, 3, 10 and 12, so they have been able to enjoy the house too. If you ever sell please let us know, maybe he'll surprise me again. Thanks for sharing!

This was our 3rd annual trip to Santa Barbara and our first trip to Carpinteria. We loved Carpinteria it was really wonderful to stay in a home. Our particular S.B. favorites are the Zoo and on the way the Padaro Grill. Both are perfect for toddlers. We also took full advantage of the proximity to the beach. We ate at Sly's & Gianfrancos and had wonderful meals at both. Also be sure to check out Rincon surf shop down the street. Nice people & great clothes.

Despite the persistent June gloom, we had a wonderful week. The house is furnished beautifully and is well situated. Recommend: La Casitas water park Ojai for sun when the gloom is here & fun for children. Wednesday kareoke night in Giovanni's pizza is fun. Outdoor movie night in the grassy area by the beach on Thursdays 8PM is really really fun but wear a sweater it's cold! Final tip: check out the timetable at the surf shop and see the seals - loads of them. We went at 7:00AM and it was amazing!

Awesome house! Beds are great, so comfortable! Loved the placing. If you want a movie just ride your cruiser over to Vons right across the street. I love the Linden House! Thank you for the use of your lovely and quaint cottage. The cruisers were fun! Get Giovannis pizza, it's the BEST! PS. Beach is really close and great!

What a beautiful and cozy place to be at!! We loved the beautiful decorating & coziness of the beds and rooms! The beach and Carpinteria strip was amazing. We also visited "Hollywood", recommend a "Hollywood tour". Great sights!! We spent time walking down by the seals and having unforgettable time in the house.

What a great place for the much needed R & R! This house is cozy and adorable. My favorite thing about it is the chandeliers! Consider yourselves blessed to own this place as I consider myself blessed to have spent a week here!

The Linden House is the ultimate dream summer cottage! We have been "summering" in Carpinteria for many, many years with our children and stayed only in the nearby chain hotels. Not anymore! We will definitely be returning to this beautiful home in Carpinteria for many, many more summers to come. It is truly an enchanting weekend, at The Linden House, as it reminds you of a summer cottage, typically one only reads about in the magazines. The owners' choice of beach colors and decor, truly make you feel as if you are away on vacation, at one of the most beautiful towns along the Pacific seaboard. There are beach cruiser bikes that also come with the home, and my family enjoyed them, throughout the entire stay, right up until it was time to leave. These owners have thought of everything! The Linden House is conveniently located in the heart of Carpinteria, within walking distance to nearby shops, a Von's grocery store, plenty of restaurants, and the beach, only blocks, away! Once you park at The Linden House, you will never need your car, again, until it's time to leave. Not only is The Linden House, aesthetically beautiful from its advertisements---it is even more spectacular, once you enter the home. All the rooms are extremely spacious, minimal clutter, and the home evokes of happiness and sunshine due to all the beautiful tall windows! This is an awesome home to invite a lot of friends because of its space, inside and out!We can't wait to visit The Linden House, again. It is a must on one's vacation list of top places to stay! It is extremely well-priced, for a prime beach vacation rental. Thank you to the owners for opening up their home...truly a memorable stay, for years to come.

This house is truly a work of art. (The photos of it are very well done, it really is this pretty). It is also very comfortable and inviting. The owners have done a phenomenal job of decorating and seeing to all of the comforts guests could want or need. The nautical theme throughout is wonderfully done and is a beautiful reflection of the central coast. The kitchen is well stocked with everything, the beds are extremely comfortable, and the bathroom is huge! When we arrived, the home was spotlessly clean, with everything in fine working order. Carpinteria is a charming beach town full of quaint shops, great restaurants, and an amazing coastline. The Linden House sits right in the perfect spot...close to everything. It would be impossible to pick a better location for your stay. We have stayed in many places up and down both the east and west coast. This is the best of the bunch!!!

Absolutely beautiful! Wonderfully restored and decorated. This is exactly what a beach home should be! Very inviting and comfortable. The owners obviously put their guests' needs and comfort as a top priority. The location could not be better. A short walk from Carpinteria Beach and within a few steps from the charming shops and fantastic restaurants of this quiet, eclectic, and friendly town. We will always choose this, the Linden House, as our place to stay whenever we come to the central coast...as long as it is not booked solid...which I believe will easily be the case as more people learn about this amazing home.

A darling cottage in the heart of a unique beach town. Clean and uncluttered. Excellent restaurants within walking distance and the sounds of the train were magical. Fun antique shops and friendly people everywhere you go. Mexican food a absolute must. A revisit will take place undoubtedly.

We had an amazing week at the Linden House. Thank you so much for the Christmas decorations. Over the last 5-6 years my wife and I have rented 20 or so places in CA, Mexico, Colorado and Michigan. Few have been as clean and detailed. You may want to consider making a bigger point about the restaurants within walking distance. This was a fantastic feature that we did not understand until we arrived....what a pleasant surprise.

Last week our family stayed at The Linden House in Carpinteria and I would recommend this rental home to friends and family. The owners have it decorated in watery blues and greens and it really looks like a beach home out of Coastal Living Magazine. The downstairs has high ceilings throughout the livingroom, master bedroom and diningroom. The kitchen is a cool retro look with all the modern necessities like dishwasher, refrigerator and full stove. We loved the cozy covered porch just off the dining room with wicker furniture and lighting for relaxing, private evenings outside. The upstairs has two bedrooms and as you walk up the stairs you will notice hand painted shells on the steps. The house has everything you need to feel pampered and on vacation. I love Carpinteria and Santa Barbara so it’s wonderful to stay here and enjoy both. We walked to the beach, which is a few blocks away, and shopped in the quaint stores along Linden Avenue. Vons is close by for anything you need for your stay. I can’t say enough about how nice the Linden House in Carpinteria is. You can easily spend a week hanging around Carp. There is a train down the street which allows you to take bikes aboard and from there you can go into Santa Barbara, San Lois Obispo or Los Angeles. I have been reviewing my vacations on Tripadvisor for a number of years and I spend a lot of time on the computer researching each destination and lodging my family stays at so I can honestly tell you I give this the highest grade possible. I hope this helps with your decision. Cathy

The house was more than we acppected it was roomie and very clean. The bedding was very comfortable and made for very good sleeping after a long day at the beach. A big benefit was having a grocery store and a rite-aid drug store right across the street to get supplies. There is many restaraunts in the area and we found them to be very good. The best thing that we found to do was get up early and walk the never ending beach and watch the seals and the dolphins every morning. And then go back at night and look for sea shells and watch the amazing sunsets over the mountains.

The Linden House felt like having our own little beach house. We loved being clse to everything, restaurants, beach, shops, and great walking trails. We enjoyed the hospitality of the community, friendly and helpful shop owners and trolley drivers. We enjoyed all of the extra amenities in the cottage, bikes, beach towels, etc. We will be back.
