Gorgeous Getaway!

As a Floridian I am almost inured with beautiful coast-line property. This, though, changed my mind. From the seals basking on the rocks nearby, to the porpoise swimming past, this is an amazingly wonderful site that only feels isolated. I rented it for the first time a few years ago, and have returned regularly since! Amazingly, it is only a few minutes from the local downtown with a small movie-theatre, grocery store, and many other amenities. There are few better things than waking up to watch a lobster boat glide across the glass-smooth water early in the morning. Sally (the other reviewer) is right, this is a dog's paradise! Also, though, it is wonderful for children! There are many tide-pools to explore, tidal flats to enjoy, and a nearby state park that is a wonderful walk down the wooded lanes. All-in-all, a definite A+ for fun and peace!
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

We've rented this cottage for the past 4 years, and look forward to returning as soon as we pull out of the property on our return home. Visiting here is truly a vacation. We completely "unplug" from our daily lives when we are here. We enjoy every waking moment, from the moment the sun peaks out from behind the islands across the bay to the evenings when the loons call out to each other during the beautiful sunsets. Unlike some busier waterfront areas in New England, the bay here is mostly traveled by lobster boats, the quintessential New England working waterfront. If you have a dog, this is an absolute dog's paradise! We enjoy kayaking, seal watching, bald eagle watching, hiking on Pidgeon Hill (awesome 270 degree view of Cadillac Mountain, Petit Manan, Narraguagus Bay, and much more), biking on Schoodic Point, and just plain RELAXING. Great fireplace to warm up to in the evenings, and nice screened-in porch for burying our noses into good books. We highly recommend this property. The owners are great to deal with and make our stay so worth the trip from southern New England. AAAA+++++!!!
