Wonderful mansion in a lovely neighborhood. Accommodated 12 members of our large family very comfortably. Beautiful house, beautifully furnished, with excellent bed, linens, toiletries, full kitchen facilities and supplies, and a really sweet garden in the back. Every bedroom felt private and had a beautiful bathroom. Everything was actually very lavish, but very tasteful. Neighborhood is really fascinating and felt totally safe, much more peaceful than downtown. Everything was immaculately clean and owner was available at all times for questions. No surprises! We used this as a base for a family get together and didn't take advantage of neighborhood establishments or culture, but found it easy to get on the subway to downtown. Great alternative to a hotel for a large group that doesn't want to be downtown.

First, our NY story. My grandson left his wallet in a cab with $120 and only a student ID. A New Yorker found the wallet, called the school in Tennessee, the school in turn called us. The lady met us and would not accept compensation. We found strangers to be helpful and glad to answer questions. Joyce was a delight. This house was perfect for our group of 11. We loved the large dining table where we gathered by a fire and played Christmas carols. The teenagers especially enjoyed the downstairs with the pool table and big screen TV. We have made several trips to NY but no where have we found a property of this value. 5 stories with an elevator, 6 bedrooms, 6 1/2 baths. Would we recommend this to friends - in a NY second! We were 2 blocks from the subway, 1 block from bus and we did all the tourist things with our grandchildren very easily. Them skating under the tree at the Rock was a memory maker. We would recommend the Gospel Brunch at Sylvia's only a couple of blocks away.

What a fabulous place to stay! The house was ultra clean and just as the photos indicated. It also had everything we needed (hair dryers, umbrellas, Iron). We had additional family and friends for Thanksgiving, a total of 14 (thank you Joyce for putting the extra leaves in the table). The two ovens and large fridge made cooking Thanksgiving dinner a breeze. In fact, one of our guests loved the house so much she is thinking of renting it for her family next year. The proximity to the subway is also a major plus! We got our 7 day passes on our first ride... and used them! The neighbors are ultra-friendly and always had a smile and a "good morning" for us. New York gave us beautiful weather. We were able to sit out on the beautiful patio with an evening glass of wine - twice. The elevator was also a big, big hit and was used often. We highly recommend this home for your New York vacation!

Ten of us (mostly couples) stayed at this fabulous home. The online pictures are just not good enough…the place was even nicer and more comfortable than we all expected. The place is huge!! The subway was just a few minutes away to get to all the action in Time Square. What a time we had in NYC! Thank you Joyce for making this trip so memorable.

My group of 8 from Raleigh, NC used this residence for our first visit to NYC. We found it to be one of the most comfortable places we've ever rented. Most of us are seamstresses and found that the owner Joyce was as well. She was able to inform us as to where we should go to find the best fabric steals which made our trip a plus. The house was awesome and there is a little bit of everything nearby! We stocked our kitchen and simply made ourselves at home! It was a great place to rest and congregate after a long day of touring, shopping and site-seeing! We had teens on our trip and the media room and recreation area made for a great stay for them as well. I must add that the photos posted definitely do no justice to how great this property truly is!! We will definitely use this beautiful place for our next visit!!

My family of 10 stayed at this property from a 3 year old to a 78 year old! It was fantastic. Sadly, the pictures do not do it justice. It was an incredible experience. Joyce thought of every last detail. I would highly recommend this property to everyone. It was clean, well cared for and full of history! I would stay here again if I ever have the chance to return to New York City. We walked to the subway, took cabs and never had an issue getting around. It is the perfect get-away!

Allez-y!!!

Our family of 10, ranging in age from 2 1/2 to 84, had a wonderful time in this home. The home was initially easy to find, convenient to bus and subway lines and also an easy walk for groceries and just about any other type of shopping we needed. The elevator made it more comfortable for the older family members and for my pregnant niece. There was no wood for the fireplace in the dining room, where we spent most of our time to be together but it turned out to be ok for us. The living room could have accomodated us also. The kitchen had just about any feature one would want, inclduing some staples to get us going. Everything was clean and in working order. The description provided was accurate. We had a great week! Joyce gave us a good walk through the house when we arrived and was available via phone any time we needed but did not intrude on our time.

A perfect base for eight young 60 year olds from Norfolk, England. The house was perfect and had everything we needed and much more. Joyce was a warm and welcoming and did everthing she could to make our visit a success. The people of Harlem, and the rest of New York, were friendly, helpful and fun. Couldn't have asked for more, so much better than a hotel. Nick & Jennie Griffiths

I rented the house as guest lodging for some of my out of town guests for my October wedding. First, let me say that as nice as they are, the pictures on the website still do not do the house justice. It is absolutely beautiful and meticulous. It is both grand and cozy at the same time. Joyce was lovely and helpful and the check-in/check-out procedures were simple and seamless. It was the perfect solution for my wedding, allowing my out of town family members to all stay together in the same place. It also gave a place for everyone to gather after the wedding. I highly recommend it.

**This review may have been submitted twice.** We celebrated my father's 70th birthday in this beautiful home. It truley felt like luxury! Convenient to the bus/ subway. A very short ride to Yankee Stadium. We visited parks, museums and landmarks, again, it was all very easy to get to. The home is in a really nice neighborhood, we did not get to explore as much as we wanted. Guess we'll have to go back! We had 9 family members in this home and all agreed-we would love to come back. Joyce was helpful, generous and really nice to talk to. I would recommend this Harlem Mansion for a group of friends/family. You just can't go wrong with this one!

What a wonderful place to stay! Our family of 9 celebrated our father's 70th birthday in this Harlem mansion and NYC. The home is a perfect place for family to spend time together. All the amenities available, loved the kitchen and the back patio. Exploring NYC was easy via the bus or subway. It was a breeze to get to Yankee Stadium and anywhere in Manhattan. We did not get to explore too much around the home-so we have to go back!! Joyce was helpful and very easy to talk to. She enjoys sharing her home and supporting the community around her. I highly recommend this place, it is a beautiful home, a great place to return to after pounding the streets, museums, etc of NYC.

Our group of 13(!) women had a wonderful time in this beautiful house. There was plenty of room, both to socialize as a group or to spend some time alone. We enjoyed the garden in the evening to "debrief" after a day in the city and alone in the morning for coffee. The bedrooms were spacious and it was great to be able to cook as a group in such a nice kitchen. The neighborhood was friendly and safe and transportation access couldn't have been better. We took advantage of both subway lines, the bus and the Metro North train. We have made our trip to NYC for years and have stayed in Soho, Midtown and the UWS. I've also stayed in the Bronx and Queens. This was by far the most comfortable house. Joyce was gracious and accommodating with our group and very informative about the neighborhood. We all look forward to next year in Harlem again.

The house was wonderful and spacious with plenty of privacy and yet a great living and dining room for getting together to discuss the day's activities. We would highly recommend it to anyone. The subway access was great and the street was lovely and quiet. We are already planning our next New York getaway!!!

The house of Mrs. Hanly is beautiful, confortable and there is a lot of place for 12 or more peoples. There is beautiful rooms and a full equiped kitchen with it's wonderful dining room that has a huge table for sitting 12 people with extra place. The whole family have passed greats moments around this table talking about our day in NY. We have passed a really good week-end for 3 nights. Our 2 cars have been parked for all the week-end in the street, just in front of the house and we've use the subway (2 blocks near the house) to go in NYC. All of thoses activities was taking place in a secure street. Everything was perfect, it's a place where we wille come back for sure. Gagnon's family

We were 9 adults, a few of us in Manhattan for the first time and some of us with many visits behind us. None of us had lived in Harlem before. We found the home beautiful and wonderfully located for our needs. Everything we needed was there, the kitchen stocked, the beds really comfortable and the owner more than helpful. It was clean and inviting. Because of extreme weather conditions the first few days (torrential rain), we had a few problems. The owner promptly fixed all difficulties, and made sure that we were OK. She also made sure that all further difficulties were avoided, by staying on top of the situation - way beyond what we could have expected. I would definitely (and already have) recommend this rental to friends!

We saw as much as we could from the statue of liberty to Times Square, Top of the Rock, Museums everything. We visited a church in Harlem and went to Sylvia's for lunch. We even made a brief appearance on the Today Show. It was an amazing week a once in a lifetime trip. THANKS FOR THE LOVELY ACCOMMODATIONS!

This was my first time utilizing a vacation rental but it was amazing. PROS: The neighborhood: quiet and safe. Two blocks away is the hustle and bustle of Harlem but as soon as you turn on this street, it was quiet. Very convenient walking distance to many restaurants, the subway, a hospital and park. The apartment: absolutely gorgeous. Everything we needed was provided. The beds were very comfortable. I loved the art and lived-in feeling of the apartment versus a hotel. The linens were clean and fresh. We had 8 adult women but there was so much space, there was room for everybody. The owners: Joyce was very helpful. The instructions were very helpful. The only thing we didn't know about was the recycling was required. My mom is on oxygen and uses a cane, sometimes a wheelchair and was very comfortable the entire trip. One of the ladies left a special memento and Joyce mailed it to her. We rented a wheelchair but the pharmacy was closed when we tried to return it. Joyce returned it for me. Paul provided detailed directions for us to relay to the taxi driver. You can't ask for nicer owners. CONS: The only issue was the apartment's WIFI wouldn't work for my sister or I. However, Harlem has a free WIFI that we were able to connect to so it wasn't that big of a deal. All in all it was an excellent experience!

Great home away from home rental. Our entire party of eight women were very impressed with the luxury and comfort of this rental. I would strongly recommend this property versus a hotel stay. It offered all the daily amenities of a home environment, is conveniently located to numerous restaurants and shopping areas as well as easy access to public transportation. Try it, you'll love your stay!

We stayed here for a girls weekend getaway Memorial Day weekend. This place is fabulous and so close to everything!!!!!! You can walk to 125th street to experience Harlem or walk to the subway to get to any other NYC attraction. Plenty of restaurants also within walking distance. The brownstone easily accommodated our party of 8 and we had plenty of room to spread out.
