Our 6 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom house, less than 5 minutes away from Stratton Mountain, is perfect for hosting your group for a weekend getaway or an extended vacation in the mountains. The original house (built over 225 years ago) has recently been added to and updated to include a large state-of-the- art kitchen and other modern touches while retaining its old -Vermont charm. The kitchen, living room and family room provide enough space for your group to spend time together or just be alone while on vacation.
Head to the open kitchen with a large dining room table for breakfast before hitting the slopes. On returning from the mountain, enjoy cocktails and R&R in front of the fireplace before a relaxing dinner. If you like to cook, you will love the spacious set up and appliances (gas range, electric oven, large refrigerator and large separate freezer, outside gas grill, plenty of pots, pans, serving platters, counter top TV with DVD, etc.)
When it’s time to relax, there are options for everyone. The family room includes a 42” plasma TV, Bose surround sound system w/ DVD, iPod docking station, sound throughout the kitchen and living room, and wireless internet access. For those who enjoy a challenge, there are several 1,000 to 1,500 piece jigsaw puzzles. The living room includes a large wood burning fireplace and plenty of room to spread out on one of the couches or rocking chairs and get into a good book. On a nice day, spend time outside hanging out or grilling on the brick patio off the kitchen.
There is plenty to do nearby. In the winter, aside from skiing or boarding at Stratton or Bromley, you can snowshoe in the woods off the backyard, cross country ski, sled with the kids at the Stratton Golf School (1½ miles from the house) and much more. In the summer time, historic Pikes Falls, a natural waterfall and swimming hole, is right across the street. Additionally, the mountain offers a lot of activities including hiking and mountain biking. A 25 minute ride to Manchester, VT offers outlet shopping and many very good restaurants for families and adults alike.

My group of 27+ year old stayed here over over President's Day weekend for a weekend snowboarding trip. This house is located very close to Stratton Mountain (~10 min drive) and to local grocery stores in Jamaica (~15 min drive). The house is located on a private dirt/paved road on a very quiet area near a river. We had some trouble finding it initially since we arrived very late but found it lit and welcoming when we arrived. We all had a wonderful time at this house. There were more than enough beds and bathrooms to comfortably accomdate all 13 of us (we are a group of 27+ year olds). All of the bedrooms had more than enough linens and towels. Bathrooms were all very clean. The kitchen was enormous and quite easily was the group's favorite hang out spot. The island in the middle made it very easy to prepare our meals. There was also a large bench that accomdated the entire group for breakfast and dinners. We even played group games like Jenga and Apples to Apples on it. All of the stainless steel appliances were new and the kitchen came stocked (you replace the items if you use it) The refrigerator had more than enough room to store food for 13 people. The fireplace in the den was another spot we gathered for relaxation after a day at the slope. The owner provided more than enough firewood for us. The new modern living room area had a nice entertainment center that the group gathered at night to watch TV and movies together. Rick, the owner was very easy to work with. He returned our security deposit check promptly after our stay. The listing description accurately describes the location. My group highly recommends this house to anyone who wants to stay close to the slopes of Stratton. Would definitely stay here again if we decided to do another group trip. Thank you! *Though it snowed only a few inches, the private road was shoveled and salted in the mornings.Recommended for: Families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
