This house blow me and my friends away. It is first class all the way. And the ocean views from the rooms are amazing. The beach in your backyard felt like your own private beach because there is no one around. The only down side might be an upside, it is a 30 minute drive to the center of Freeport, to where all the action and people are. If you are looking to get away from the busy then this house will exceed all your expectations.

This home is absolutely gorgeous. The pictures on line do not do it justice. The lay out inside the home is fabulous. There is lots of space for everyone. We had 7 in our party and we were never running into one another. The beach area when we arrived was not as nice as we had hoped but after a day or two we realized every day the beach was different due to the tides. So, if it is rocky one day it may be clear and sandy the next. Just be patient and wait it out! We stayed there for 14 nights and we never tired of the view everyday. We went into town about every 2 -3 days. There is always lots to do and experience on this island. A few of our favorites were: Lucayan National Park and Gold Rock Beach- A few miles down the road, my kids favorite beach for swimming but quite a walk to get to (be prepared), loved Ben's Cave @ The Park (beautiful), Barbary Beach was deserted but absolutely gorgeous, you could drive and park right beside it (a great way to spend some time with a picnic lunch if you come prepared, Taino Beach was also great ;we went during the Conch Festival, so there was lots of fun activities going on. We especially loved the Junkanoo Parade as well as the Conch Salad. My son and husband went to Unexso to do the open ocean dolphin swim. It was expensive but their highlight of the trip so it was worth the money! We went to Paradise Cove (Deadman's Reef) for a day and it was definitely worth the drive! The snorkelling was great, lots to see. The restaurant served a good variety of food and drinks. The little gift shop had comparable items for sale to that of Port Lucaya. Speaking of Port Lucaya, we did go there a few times. We went to the beach (great), casino (husband won twice), looked through the shops (purchased a few items) and ate at Pizza Hut a few times (since the kids loved it). On our final day we went to Garden of the Groves. This was a great way to spend 2-3 hours. It was beautiful and it was a nice way to end our time in Bahamas!

The house is exactly how it is described. Everything is well equipped. There was toilet paper, bug spray, etc. You get to the house, everything is clean and ready for your vacation. They added a beautiful lanai right at the beach. It is perfect there. Just the trash from the wood wasn't picked up yet. But I'm sure that'll come. The ocean is mostly calm, just sometimes some waves, when there is a storm. The beach is wonderful at low tide. High tide is a problem. There are so many washed up broken corals that you need surf socks to walk in. The island is wonderful, if you are looking for a vacation away from everything. The house is located about 35 min from Freeport, but if you plan ahead, you only need to go shopping every third day. The Solomon's supermarket had everything! We didn't miss any food and the food was fresh. Next to Solomon's is a fish market. There you can buy Lobster and fish. Outstanding. At Pelican's Point is Bahama John's Bar. A must!!! Food and drink are great, the beach very nice and you can play beach volleyball while you're waiting fpr your food. At Lucaya aou should check out Unexso. Great place where you can swim with dolphins. The restaurant Argave is a great place to eat, too. Summary: A great vacation home with everything you need!!! Always again:)

Owner response: The covered lanai with a large table right on the beach is complete and tidied up. It is an excellent spot for lunch, relaxing in the shade, or watching kids play. Its also perfect for little ones to play in the sand but out of the sun.

We just returned from good fellows house this week. We were 2 couples with 4 children ages 7months-6yrs. The house was lovely and very spacious! The beach was at the back door:) Downfalls: kitchen does not have a lot of basic things needed. I.e sugar , coffee filters. and the grocery is like 40 minutes away. When you get into Freeport be prepared to buy Everything you may need. Wine was very expensive but beer and liquor were priced reasonably. Beach defiantly requires beach shoes or some tough feet:) there was no beach umbrella (made it hard with a little one, but I guess we should of bought one in town. There are 2 little restaurants about 10 -15 minutes away that were very friendly and served yummy food. Dorris's and ? Right next to each other. Lucaya beach right down the road was beautiful and worth the trek. It's $5 a person. But fun to pack up lunch and go there. We would go back again! Now more educated:)

Beach shoes may be necessary at high tide depending on the coral season, but at low tide, there is a long wide perfect silky sand beach.

My family had a wonderful time staying in this lovely home. The house is beautiful and very spacious. There are views of the ocean from almost every room, and once we figured out how to use the screen doors (very easy to use, but we did not notice them at first), we were able to hear the waves and the swaying of the palm trees during the whole stay. Our kids loved being able to run to the beach on their own, and we had seen only a few people on the beach during our stay. It felt like our own private beach. The location was great: removed from the crowds, but near enough to be able to run into the nearest town, if needed. We would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a relaxed vacation on a beautiful beach, while enjoying all the luxurious amenities that this house offers.

We just returned from a week at the Freetown home, and can't say enough good things about it. Everything was clean, well cared for, and beautiful. The beach is secluded and wonderful - we only saw three other people the whole week. We had a great dinner at Jovanini's in Freeport - great food and service. I'd recommend this place for anyone wanting a restful stay among beautiful surroundings.

Ten of us stayed at the Goodfellow home in August and had an amazing time. The home is beautiful and spacious with plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Even the dining room table was big enough for all of us to eat at once. Having a "private" beach was so much fun, too. Low tide is the best time to enjoy the beach and the sand bar that pops up. It's like being in a huge, turquoise pool with gentle waves, and the sandbar made a great area for tossing football and other games. You also have to go to nearby Gold Rock Beach; it is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen.

An excellent property for a very peaceful and restful vacation. Home is very well-maintained and clean. The owner was very helpful in all questions and concerns. The listing photos are an accurate reflection of the home. Spectacular sunsets!! Our week was too short, would certainly consider it another year.

We just returned from a 10 day stay at the home. It was excellent experience and great, perfect refreshing vacations. The beach was wonderful and the home was all, and more, than described in the listing. I highly recommend it and we will return. If you are looking for tranquility, privacy, and luxury, this is the house on Grand Bahama. During our stay we only saw one person on the beach. At high tide, it was safe to swim. At low tide the flats had numerous sand bars and small tidal pools suitable for our 2.5year old son to play in. The house is quite large and with 5 bedrooms can accommodate more than one family. The property is well maintained and provides an acre of palm studded lawn to play at. The car supplied with the rental is absolutely necessary as the property is located about 25 miles away from town and about 3 miles east of the Lucaya Nat Park. The car was reliable and blended well with other vehicles in the parking lots in Freeport -although it is well worn by US standards. Upon arrival we were met by car rental agent at the airport, she took us to the office where we filed paperwork and she then directed us to grocery store and gas station. We then drove to the house (45 minutes trip) where we met with owner's representative. He gave us introduction to the house and the area. He recommended places to go, shop and visit. He was available by phone all the time. We had to use the local land phone (provided) as the cell coverage was spotty there and we were not able to connect to internet or make international calls while in the house. This might have been temporary as infrastructure is in place including working cable TV (new SONY flat panel in master bedroom); VOIP phone, and wireless modem, but it just not worked when we were there. Overall it was excellent experience, easy to set up with the owners and a great family vacations. Activities I can recommend: UNEXO SCUBA and Dolphin Experience, Lucaya National Park, Paradise Cove snorkeling, bonefish fly fishing off the beach, Garden of the Groves. "Shopping" in Lucaya was less than OK - nothing rivaling St. Thomas. Groceries were similarly priced at all the stores so pick convenient one, they are all imported from US. Selection varied and brands were limited in warehouse style places: juice, dairy products, and ice cream are twice as expensive as in the US; reg. gas was at $5.40/gallon. Buy fish/conch behind Freeport Straw Market, fresh off the boat.

What a wonderful home. Our family was quite comfortable with plenty of private space and great large family space. We didn't see another person on :"our" beach which was about 50yds. from the house. The water was shallow, warm and after you got over the coral rocks, the sand was soft and comfortable. the children enjoyed flying kites with the ever present wind. The folks in the village were friendly and the food was very good. Freeport is about 30 minutes away, so be sure and get your groceries before heading to the house. Solomans grocery store had fair prices and a nice selection. I would recommend this property for a great family vacation.

                              Year Purchased: 2003

About the owner: Hello, my wife and I have travelled with our children to various islands in the Caribbean, but we felt most at home on Grand Bahama Island. I have a contracting company in Ontario Canada and had been searching for the right property on which to build our vacation home.

                              Why the Owner Chose Freetown:
The Goodfellow family has vacationed on Grand Bahama for more than 15 years and enjoyed the area and local people so much they built a home on Pelican Point in the late 1990's. The demands of the construction industry in Canada kept the Goodfellow family in the North a great deal of time and they decided to try share their vacation home by renting it out when not in residence. This proved successful and when they decided to build a larger home, they looked for the best beach they could find on the island of Grand Bahama. They located a large lot on Golden Beach and in 2003 completed work on this current home near Freetown.
