We just returned from good fellows house this week. We were 2 couples with 4 children ages 7months-6yrs. The house was lovely and very spacious! The beach was at the back door:) Downfalls: kitchen does not have a lot of basic things needed. I.e sugar , coffee filters. and the grocery is like 40 minutes away. When you get into Freeport be prepared to buy Everything you may need. Wine was very expensive but beer and liquor were priced reasonably. Beach defiantly requires beach shoes or some tough feet:) there was no beach umbrella (made it hard with a little one, but I guess we should of bought one in town. There are 2 little restaurants about 10 -15 minutes away that were very friendly and served yummy food. Dorris's and ? Right next to each other. Lucaya beach right down the road was beautiful and worth the trek. It's $5 a person. But fun to pack up lunch and go there. We would go back again! Now more educated:)

My family had a wonderful time staying in this lovely home. The house is beautiful and very spacious. There are views of the ocean from almost every room, and once we figured out how to use the screen doors (very easy to use, but we did not notice them at first), we were able to hear the waves and the swaying of the palm trees during the whole stay. Our kids loved being able to run to the beach on their own, and we had seen only a few people on the beach during our stay. It felt like our own private beach. The location was great: removed from the crowds, but near enough to be able to run into the nearest town, if needed. We would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a relaxed vacation on a beautiful beach, while enjoying all the luxurious amenities that this house offers.

We just returned from a week at the Freetown home, and can't say enough good things about it. Everything was clean, well cared for, and beautiful. The beach is secluded and wonderful - we only saw three other people the whole week. We had a great dinner at Jovanini's in Freeport - great food and service. I'd recommend this place for anyone wanting a restful stay among beautiful surroundings.

Ten of us stayed at the Goodfellow home in August and had an amazing time. The home is beautiful and spacious with plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Even the dining room table was big enough for all of us to eat at once. Having a "private" beach was so much fun, too. Low tide is the best time to enjoy the beach and the sand bar that pops up. It's like being in a huge, turquoise pool with gentle waves, and the sandbar made a great area for tossing football and other games. You also have to go to nearby Gold Rock Beach; it is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen.

We just returned from a 10 day stay at the home. It was excellent experience and great, perfect refreshing vacations. The beach was wonderful and the home was all, and more, than described in the listing. I highly recommend it and we will return. If you are looking for tranquility, privacy, and luxury, this is the house on Grand Bahama. During our stay we only saw one person on the beach. At high tide, it was safe to swim. At low tide the flats had numerous sand bars and small tidal pools suitable for our 2.5year old son to play in. The house is quite large and with 5 bedrooms can accommodate more than one family. The property is well maintained and provides an acre of palm studded lawn to play at. The car supplied with the rental is absolutely necessary as the property is located about 25 miles away from town and about 3 miles east of the Lucaya Nat Park. The car was reliable and blended well with other vehicles in the parking lots in Freeport -although it is well worn by US standards. Upon arrival we were met by car rental agent at the airport, she took us to the office where we filed paperwork and she then directed us to grocery store and gas station. We then drove to the house (45 minutes trip) where we met with owner's representative. He gave us introduction to the house and the area. He recommended places to go, shop and visit. He was available by phone all the time. We had to use the local land phone (provided) as the cell coverage was spotty there and we were not able to connect to internet or make international calls while in the house. This might have been temporary as infrastructure is in place including working cable TV (new SONY flat panel in master bedroom); VOIP phone, and wireless modem, but it just not worked when we were there. Overall it was excellent experience, easy to set up with the owners and a great family vacations. Activities I can recommend: UNEXO SCUBA and Dolphin Experience, Lucaya National Park, Paradise Cove snorkeling, bonefish fly fishing off the beach, Garden of the Groves. "Shopping" in Lucaya was less than OK - nothing rivaling St. Thomas. Groceries were similarly priced at all the stores so pick convenient one, they are all imported from US. Selection varied and brands were limited in warehouse style places: juice, dairy products, and ice cream are twice as expensive as in the US; reg. gas was at $5.40/gallon. Buy fish/conch behind Freeport Straw Market, fresh off the boat.

What a wonderful home. Our family was quite comfortable with plenty of private space and great large family space. We didn't see another person on :"our" beach which was about 50yds. from the house. The water was shallow, warm and after you got over the coral rocks, the sand was soft and comfortable. the children enjoyed flying kites with the ever present wind. The folks in the village were friendly and the food was very good. Freeport is about 30 minutes away, so be sure and get your groceries before heading to the house. Solomans grocery store had fair prices and a nice selection. I would recommend this property for a great family vacation.

An excellent property for a very peaceful and restful vacation. Home is very well-maintained and clean. The owner was very helpful in all questions and concerns. The listing photos are an accurate reflection of the home. Spectacular sunsets!! Our week was too short, would certainly consider it another year.

"Our stay was, as before, perfectly wonderful. The accommodations are so well-planned for a group, and the weather, and even the airlines, all cooperated beautifully. Stepping in the front door, even after several stays, is always a delightful surprise---every bit as good as you remember. The new porch furniture is perfect. It is our hope to be able to return next year."

I cannot say enough about this home. We stayed for a memorable 2 weeks in late January, early February '09. We had 13 total people, 2 of which were babies, and never felt crowded or like we were tripping over one another once the entire time. Reverend Laing and his wife were very accommodating and kind. The solitude was amazing, and I find it difficult to not daydream about our next visit! I would highly recommend this property to anyone who truly wants to get away from it all. It was 2 of the best weeks of our life. Our children loved it, were never bored and left with nothing but the best of memories. Next time I might go a bit later in the year, as it was unseasonably chilly while we visited, but still a fabulous vacation overall!

This house is beautiful with all modern amenities. When we arrived the house was clean and ready for us. The beach is gorgeous. Our family traveled with another family so 8 of us used the house. It was plenty big. There is nothing to do except relax!

The house is really lovely and well equipped...except for the kitchen. We found ourselves "making do" to cope with the lack of utensils/equipment for preparing meals. Because the house is remote we ate many of our meals in (which we prefer anyway). There were 2 wine glasses...not quite adequate for a house that sleeps 10. On the other hand there were about 30 coffee cups! The beach wass fabulous except when the tide was in...then there was no beach,,,just rocks and washed up coral. (Be sure to take reef shoes, Tivas or the like). The change in the beach as the tide changed was remarkable. When the tide was out the children had a great time playing on the sandbars and in the sea and the sand. If you've ever dreamed of vacationing on a deserted island this comes pretty close. During the entire week we saw a total of 4 other people on the beach; 2 people on 2 separate occasions. Rev. Freddie gave us the name of a couple of the local fishermen from whom we bought the "catch of the day"; grouper, mutton snapper; lobster on several occasions...the one drawback is the 30+ min. drive to the boat dock. The house is located close to Lucaya National Park where various tour groups come to kayak and hike. We tried to rent kayaks but couldn't find anyone on the island who would rent kayaks for a few days or a week. All the kayaks were tied to a tour company and were needed for the tour outings. That was a disappointment. When all is said and done we will go back and have recommended the house to friends. It's quiet, relaxing, idyllic, all in a very private location. The sea is fabulous...the view from the house is remarkable. If you want to get away from it all you've found the place.
Owner response:We have since made sure we have a well stocked kitchen.

The house is absolutely gorgeous!! Very clean and spacious. Easily accommodated group of 10 adults - we never felt crowded. Huge improvement over staying at a resort and getting individual rooms for each couple. We were able to spend more time together having coffee in the morning or relaxing on the lanai reading in the afternoons. Yet there is plenty of room to find some quiet time by yourself is wanted too. Only downside would be the distance from Port Lucaya/Freeport. It is about a half hour drive into town so we just opted to spend more time at the house grilling dinner rather than going out so often. We will most likely return to the home when we travel to the Bahamas again. Plus, Julie was a pleasure to work with - very informative.

We stayed at this home in Grand Bahama's in August of 2007. It was a total dream. A very secluded beach..just like on a movie! It was extremely clean and very well maintained! The beds slept well. The ocean right outside the front door was crystal clear, and the snorkling was awesome!! Shells and coral everywhere! The caretaker and his family were very nice and helpful! Thank you so much for a dream come true!

This house blow me and my friends away. It is first class all the way. And the ocean views from the rooms are amazing. The beach in your backyard felt like your own private beach because there is no one around. The only down side might be an upside, it is a 30 minute drive to the center of Freeport, to where all the action and people are. If you are looking to get away from the busy then this house will exceed all your expectations.
