NOTE ABOUT THE 2013 SEASON: Due to personal matters we won't be running the vacation rental for the 2013 season. Thanks for your interest and thanks to all of our former guests, we have truly enjoyed meeting great people from all over the world.
The Marathon Terrace Main House is one of four 'Government Houses' built in about 1916 as part of the railroad terminus development in Seward. Right away you will notice the custom cedar-shingle art created by local artist Paul Paquette. You'll have fun picking out all of the creatures lurking on the walls!
The house has been completely remodeled, and has a completely new kitchen as of 2007. The house has 2 bedrooms; there is one queen size bed in each, and an additional twin in one of the bedrooms, so the house can accommodate up to 5 people. There is also a fully equipped kitchen, and bath. Bedrooms and bath are on the second floor. The kitchen has a full sized refrigerator/freezer with room for standard frozen fish boxes.
We think you'll find our house to be a practical, comfortable alternative to hotel or motel rooms where you can relax, cook your own dinner if desired, and enjoy a home away from home while on vacation in Seward. Families and groups especially appreciate having a complete home available for their enjoyment, and within walking distance of downtown Seward and the small boat harbor.
We also offer our 3-bedroom Terrace Suite, located in an adjacent building on the property. Please see VRBO #234477 or visit our web page for full details.

We just got back from a great 4 night stay in the main house. It was very clean and the beds were really comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals during our stay. It was a great place to relax and feel right at home after our busy days of sea kayaking and hiking to Exit glacier and our day trip to Kenai Fjords National Park. It is conveniently located near restaurants, shopping, the sea life center and the beach. Our family of two adults and two teenagers enjoyed our stay very much.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers.

This is a very clean, small house with all amenities. The stained glass in the kitchen is pretty (of a whale fluke). Downstairs windows don't open, but front door can be opened for fresh air. There were three of us and we were quite comfortable.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

Not only is The Main House homey and comfortable, but it also has many artistic touches. We prepared some great meals in the well-equipped kitchen and enjoyed wonderful family time around the piano. Marathon Terrace Lodging is a sure bet AND a gem!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1

"We stayed in the Main House for 3 nights, and found it very comfortable. Everything is very clean and well-maintained. You are maybe a minute by car from the harbor, but it was nice and quiet. The beds were great and the kitchen had everything we needed for our family of 5. Drake, the owner, was available and very helpful. He is an artist and a craftsman - check out his work at http://ditemandesign.com (no, I was not asked to do that!). Highly recommended!!"Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
