Awesome! Stayed July 6 to 13th. Shared the home with another family, 7 total, 4 adults and 3 kids aging from 4 to 12yrs. Inside has an open/modern floor plan, you never feel "cramped". Everything is comfortable, etc. The surround sound is great. Everything is clean and well maintained. Jack and Shore (the owners) are very responsive and answered all questions we had, which were few. We cooked 95% of our meals at the house and did all shopping at "Ray's Market" which is about 5 min down the road. Kitchen has just about everything you would need (we brought our own crock pot and panini maker). We did eat burgers/fries at Early Bird which is about 2 minutes down the road (they have Bigfoot burgers so you almost have to eat here just to check out the shape of those buns). The outside is impressive. When at the house, we spent most of our time in the backyard which feels more like a little clearing in the middle of a forest. The pool is great (super clean), the ice machine in the laundry room is convenient, the outdoor furniture is plentiful and clean, the deck off the house is huge and perfect for eating/stargazing, etc. What was real convenient was the outdoor shower and trail down to the river. Note that the trail down to the river is probably not for everyone; e.g. if you have a bum knee or are elderly it's probably not for you, but no worries there are numerous easy ways to access the river up and down the 299 HWY. Outside of the house we checked out numerous swim holes in the Trinity river. Big Rock is fun and so is Kimtu Beach (both about 5 to 10 minutes from the house). Also great was South Fork bridge area (about 2 miles east from the house off the 299). We rented a raft from Bigfoot Rafting and went solo down the Trinity from Hawkin's Bar to Salyer. Took 3 hours and was freaking great! If you go, bring a small ice-chest and minimal fishing gear (wish I would have). Plenty of safe spots to swim, jump off rocks, etc.Plenty of fishing holes and sandy beaches.Outside of Willow Creek, recommend checking out Trinidad & the Redwood forests, worth the drive! Another big part of the trip was visiting Bluff Creek and checking out all things Bigfoot. The 2 men in our party drove to Bluff Creek and went 7 or 8 miles up the service road. Also checked out Aikens Creek. Amazing country, worth seeing. Peggy in the Bigfoot museum in Willow Creek is a kick to talk to. Met a Hoopa indian family and they shared numerous Bigfoot stories with us. What a great trip!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

My family and I traveled from the east to experience this paradise on the Trinity River. The house exceeded our expecations. Not only were the beds comfortable, the sheets and pillows felt heavenly. There are even organic products to wash with. We loved the outdoor shower too. The kitchen had everything and more to dine and entertain with. Surround sound music added to our enjoyment. We relaxed the first few days by the pool and floated the big eddy on the river. Around we went with snorkes viewing steel head trout. Then we ventured out and rented canoes from Big Foot rentals and had a wonderful experience floating down the Trinity River for 8 miles. The water is prestine, clear, refreshing and relaxing. We can't say enough postive things about this place. We feel so lucky to have been here and look forward to another visit.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

I cannot say enough about this incredibly zen-ful retreat! Peaceful and beautiful, relaxing and invigorating, it is all here. After starting the day with yoga on the deck overlooking the river, we hiked, fished and swam in the river, played in the pool and on the lawn (badmitton). We will definitely return again and again and again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/3

I have been lucky enough to stay here in both the summer and winter and I must say you can't go wrong. In the summer we saw bald eagles, rafted the river, saw shooting stars, swam in the river and in the pool it was glorious. In the winter we hiked in the snow just miles up the hillside from this special place and then sat by the fireplace and relaxed. The home is simple, beautiful, clean, modern and comfortable. I highly recommend this retreat it has something for everyone, from family gatherings to intimate getaways. Can't wait to get out there again!Did you find this review helpful?
