Best view on the island

We stayed here for almost a week in May 2011, and highly recommend this condo. Spending the early morning drinking coffee on the lanai, watching the turtles and the surfers, was amazing. The sound of the surf lulled us to sleep each night. Warmer nights got a little close-feeling, even with the ceiling fans and the lanai doors open, but the upside is that when I woke up one night because I was warm, I stepped out on to the lanai where the swirling milky way of stars literally took my breath away. Living in Seattle where the city lights obscure the stars, I'd almost forgotten how beautiful a clear middle-of-the-night sky can be. This condo building was quiet (we saw perhaps 3 or 4 other guests in passing here or there, even though the parking lot was pretty full and so I suppose the building was full of guests) and centrally located to Poipu beaches and shops. The snorkel spot by the Beach House restaurant is within easy walking distance - a bonus! The beds and furniture are comfortable, the fixtures pretty (the photos are true to life), and the view and the constant sound of the surf were truly beyond compare. Even without air conditioning, we will very likely stay here again - it was that enjoyable. Thanks to the owners for a lovely stay!

My husband, my parents, and I loved our stay here and wished we had reserved more days there! I agree with other reviewers--no noise problems (unless you don't like the constant and fairly loud sound of the surf--I LOVED it), an unbeatable view, lots of turtles and surfers to watch, comfy beds, nice kitchen, convenient laundry room and fast elevator, well-maintained grounds, no parking problems, close to a good little snorkeling beach, cool breezes and lots of ceiling fans, pretty sinks in the bathrooms, lots of nice beach towels, some beach gear, lots of storage if you've brought lots of stuff...basically, it was great. The second bedroom is small but comfy--my husband and I are used to sleeping in a king-sized bed, so it was a little bit of an adjustment, but if I felt squished, I just went out to the extremely comfortable couch. The listing is very accurate, and the condo was very clean.The owners are a pleasure to work with. I have recommended this condo to friends and family and hope to return myself someday.

Lovely small ocean-front condo

This condo is situated in a wonderful Poipu location, with incredible ocean views from the windows and balcony. The entire unit has been updated beautifully and has everything one could want in a small kitchen. The bedrooms are furnished nicely. The master bedroom however, has a shower with glass doors directly in the bedroom and a separate small toilet/sink area with a pocket door. Also, closet space in this bedroom is minimal. The second bedroom includes a queen bed and two nightstands only, along with more adequate closet space and a separate bathroom. The main drawback is that there is no air-conditioning, so one is forced to leave open the sliding door and windows for circulation. And it is a little bit on the warm side at night with loud surf sounds in the condo!

Wow. What a great place to stay at on the south shore of Kauai. With easy to follow instructions it was a breeze checking in at Kuhio Shores #410. The lanai and view of PK's surf break were awesome. We enjoyed watching all the honu (turtles) feeding every afternoon/evening. The entire condo was updated recently and you can definitely tell. The kitchen was a pleasure to use and cook in. The view from the dining room table was awesome for breakfast. The bed was so comfortable it was like sleeping on a cloud. Overall I would definitely recommend staying here for anyone interested in awesome views and stylish accommodations. Mahalo to Ryan & Avigale for providing a wonderful condo!

We stayed in both Kuhio Shores 114 and 410 in March 2010 because neither was available for the full time that we were on Kauai. Bottom line: Wonderful site, beautiful condos, responsive owners. We give these condos our highest recommendation with absolutely no reservations. The site: We've been to Kauai three previous times and always enjoyed staying at Kiahuna Plantation. This time, we decided to try Kuhio Shores which puts you right on the water with very good snorkeling accessible from either side of the condo building. Green sea turtles gather directly in front of the building and, if you venture out there with snorkeling gear, you will see *many* turtles. At one point, there was also a monk seal on the beach adjacent to the building. Does it get better than that? The condos: 114 and 410 are owned by the same couple. Both condos were renovated recently, are beautiful, and are in superb condition. 114 is a first-floor walkout -- 25 feet of lawn, and there's the ocean. While 114 is at the center of the front of the building, the building bumps out at that point so the effect is like being in a corner unit, with an additional view along the coast to the west. 410 is on the top floor and does not have that additional glass but it's much easier to spot turtles from the higher vantage point. Owners: We communicated with one of the owners (Ryan) several times via email and phone when booking and while in the condos, and he was always very responsive. He was also flexible about our checkout time as we had a very late-departing flight. Our security deposit was promptly returned after our stay. Bottom line: We now prefer Kuhio Shores to Kiahuna Plantation because of its proximity to the water and for the excellent snorkeling mere feet away. 114 and 410 are absolutely beautiful and are owned and managed by people who care not only about their property but also about their guests. We give both condos five out of five stars, two thumbs up, and blue ribbons.

This unit was wonderful! The whole complex was very nicely maintained. Unit 410 was clean as a whistle. Appliances and furnishing were way way above "service" grade found in other condos we've rented (even at higher prices). Ryan and Avigale were spot on with their customer service and follow through on any correspondence we had with them. Thank you! We will stay here again when on Kauai

The unit was great with all of the furnishings top notch! The change in layout with the bedroom slider doors opening to the living room and ocean is great!!!!!! Of course, Kuhio Shores is a great place to stay with south facing units enjoying the never ending views from sunrise to sunset. We always enjoy watching the turtles, whales and surfers from the lanai when we aren't out snorkeling or boggie boarding. Thanks for a great unit and great vacation!!!!
