Very roomy. Had four beds and blow up mattresses if you need more sleep area. Was there during the heat wave 100 degrees so a little warm because there was no air conditioning. But putting fans in windows at night made it some cooler. Probably would have been fine if hadn't been for unusually high temperature. Close to Boone and an hour from Tn caving/river raft tour at Watauga Kayak which was wonderful fun.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

This was my family's first trip here, but it won't be the last. This home is spacious and the floor plan is very open. The views are beautiful!! We loved the back deck with the comfortable glider. We loved how secluded the location is. We loved how comfortable the beds were. We loved...well, you get the idea. We spent the weekend hiking with the family, sitting by a cozy fire and drinking hot chocolate, watching movies on a nice wide screen TV, eating home cooked meals. The list goes on and on. I give it an A+.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

My family and I spent the weekend at the lovely Adlerhorst cabin in Vilas, NC. The inside of the cabin is just as beautiful at the outside. It sits on a mountain with breathtaking views. Inside the home is very comfortable. It is upscale without being stuffy. The kitchen has everything you need. Contemporary, working, clean appliances, dishes, utensils, and cleaning supplies. The bedrooms were also clean and very comfortable...they made it hard not to stay in bed all weekend. All three bathrooms were very clean. Linens were clean and extras available. There is a washer & dryer...just in case you need to use one. The master bath was fun! I had nerve used a shower with two shower heads. I truly felt pampered. They even had nice fluffy robes there for us to use. We had 4 adults and three children and could have easily been comfortable if more people came with us. There is a spare room with a closet stocked with toys & games. There is a variety of both adult & children's DVDs to watch. All TVs had cable and the house has wi-fi Internet. The cabin, although tucked away in the peace & calm of nature, is an quick, easy ride to all the local happenings. I would definitely consider staying at Adlerhorst again...only this time for a longer stay. We did not want to leave! Marcie (the owner) was easy to communicate with and quick to respond to any emails. It was also nice to know, that even thought we did not bring our dog along this time, the cabin is pet friendly.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Our family of two couples, one teen, and canine companions met at this rental for a wonderful weekend in July 2011. The house is very nice ~ we just loved the open floor plan and the staircase leading to the 2nd floor ~ with lots of room for different activities. Thanks to the owners for answering all of our questions in advance in such detail (places to hike, waterfall locations, etc.) and for their policies to a) include cleaning fees in the nightly rate, b) not charge additional pet fees, c) make check-out so relatively task- free. (And thanks to those who stay and care for the property such that the owners can continue these practices.) Adlerhorst was clean, comfortable, and in a great location for our family.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed at the cabin in February 2010 and I must say it was just wonderful! The cabin definitely feels like a home away from home. It is so nicely furnished and well taken care of and just a really peaceful and comfortable place to stay. We were there following a blizzard so the snow was a plenty, which is exactly what we wanted!! Our whole family spent hours playing in the snow and then warming up and enjoying time together in the Adlerhorst cabin. I would definitely reccommend this place to anyone. Of course if you are planning a vacation to play in the snow, you need 4WD or Chains for sure for the last leg up the mountain. The owners are so sweet and easy to deal with. Thanks a ton Marcie :)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We stayed the weekend of 9-11 October at the peak of the changing of the colors of the leaves. Adlerhorst was a peaceful sanctuary for us. We definitely did not want to leave once we made it 'up the hill' to the house. The accomodations were comfortable and clean. Would definitely stay again!Did you find this review helpful? We stayed in your cabin the weekend of 10/17 and had a great time! The cabin is beautiful and so very comfy! The location is great, so close to everything you want to do but still secluded. The view from the cabin is beautiful - We just sat out on the porch a few times just enjoying the view! Thanks so much for providing us with the perfect place for our trip!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We had the most wonderful girl's weekend at your cabin. It wasn't generic and cold like other rentals I've stayed in, but rather, cozy and warm. A home away from home, indeed! You provided area brochures, maps, board games - anything we could possibly need. What a beautiful place. Can't wait to come back again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
