As others have commented, Romula & Claudio could not have been more gracious hosts. We were picked up at the airport and given a complete review of the apartment workings. It is a great location, right in the centre of Roman sites and sounds and a particularly lively piazza. Every time we walked out of our little lane way someone was taking a picture of it as it is so quaint. We arrived on a holiday so the area was in a very festive mood. While we were there only three days on our first visit to Rome, we felt a bond to the city and the country. The Italian people that we encountered seemed to enjoy life so much. I will not hesitate to recommend this lovely apartment to family and friends.

I've rented apartments in a number of cities over the years and am always somewhat nervous until I actually see the place in person. If you have any concerns at all about this apartment in Trastevere, you can breath easy, trust me. It was just as billed - a luxury suite - down to the robes and slippers. And the shower, with all those jets - ahhh. As others have noted, it's located down a charming alley that appears to be a favorite for picture-taking tourists. And it's relatively quiet at night, even for those sleeping on the sofabed in the front of the apartment as I was. And the sofabed was comfortable as well. The wifi was quick too. Oh, and Romula was the best. She was very responsive to emails before we arrived and made us feel comfortable and at home right away. She gave us all kinds of tips about the area, including how to find the nearby supermarket which is downstairs within a department-type store and not seen from the street, not to order wine by the glass unless we ask the price first, not to order the tourist menu because it's usually pretty mediocre, and she even arranged transportation for us back to the airport. But you're not going just for the apartment, you're going to see Rome, and this apartment is perfect for that as well. The location is the best. Trastevere is a very lively area, with lots of restaurants and clubs, but just as important, you can easily walk to all of the sights - ancient Rome, the Vatican, all the piazzas, museums, markets, etc. And if all that walking isn't your thing, public transportation is easy to come by. As you can probably guess, I highly recommend this apartment and would definitely stay there again. My only regret is that I never got to the gelateria right near the apartment. We had gelato everyday but we were always in other parts of the city doing our sightseeing, so never got to the place in our own backyard. But I did throw a lot of coins into Trevi Fountain so hopefully I will return to Rome someday soon.

"This lovely flat, in the heart of Trastevere, exceeded our expectations. The location is quite wonderful, in the heart of the bustling Trastevere, on a small side street away from the late night noise and around the corner from the best gelateria (Moon Flower) in Rome. It was the perfect spot to enjoy our morning coffee, unwind with a glass of red or cook a meal for a night in. It's very well equipped, comfortable and we happily and highly recommend it to anyone spending some time in Rome. To make it even better Romula was extremely helpful with our travel plans.

My friend and I just spent a wonderful 10 days at this charming apartment in the heart of Trastevere. Although it was located in a very lively neighborhood where there was much activity late into the night as soon as we walked down our little alley all was quiet and we slept peacefully. When you walk out of the apartment you are steps away from Caffe' del Prado which serves the best cappuccino in Rome - the guys that own it are wonderful and friendly. Our favorite restaurant was La Scala - we tried several other restaurants in the area and always came back to this one. By the end of our stay we didn't even have to ask - our favorite wine was brought to our table when we sat down. Whether we're back in Rome for a day or a week we will definitely want to spend some time at this lovely apartment and neighborhood. Romula and Claudio were so accomodating and did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. Our many thanks!

As relatively seasoned travelers, my wife and I found Romula’s comfortably furnished, well-equipped apartment close to perfect for a week’s visit to Rome in March 2012. Its location, in a charming little side street, off a bustling pedestrian walkway is ideal for walkers, and bus service is just up the street. The Trastevere neighborhood is lively until the wee hours, but when you close the apartment door there’s barely a sound. Romula is gracious and informative and the apartment is good value. We expect to return next March and live among the Romans for another week.

This apartment is perfect to explore all of Rome! The transportation was so easy to get back and forth from all the attractions. Trastevere is a beautiful area with a bunch of great places to eat. Some of the best gelato was straight across the street. The apartment was picture perfect and so homie for my parents and I. The high speed wifi was a great help for planning our day and staying in touch with home. Romula was very helpful! She printed out our web tickets and brought them to the apartment, which was wonderful. We will defenitely use this apartment again next year.
Owner response:Thanks Naomi, hope to see you again in Rome. Did you trrow the coin in the Trevi fountain ????

My friend and I had the pleasure of staying in this lovely apartment from February 21st to February 27th 2012. Romula was a gracious hostess; she responded to my correspondence in both a timely and professional manner. She arranged transfer to/from airport which was very convenient. Romula oriented us to the apartment and gave us helpful information i.e., nearby grocery stores, restaurants, maps, etc. She even checked on us mid-week via e-mail to make sure everything was going well. The apartment was charming, very clean and exactly as described on her website. Wi-Fi was a plus. There were nice little touches such as a towel warmer, robes and slippers. My friend and I would alternate sleeping on the bed and sofa bed – both were very comfortable. The location was perfect. Although we walked to most of the attractions, the apartment is less than a five minute walk to a taxi stand and the tram. There are plenty of restaurants around to choose from. For delicious gelato, Fior de Luna is less than a 30 second walk away! The apartment is located in a charming cul de sac and people were always taking pictures of the lane/alley. Safety was never an issue. We were very happy with our stay in Romula’s apartment. When I return to Rome, I hope to stay here again! I loved it!

This was the perfect spot for which to explore all of Rome. It is located in Trastevere, my favourite neighbourhood in Rome, and is an easy walk to all the major attractions. I booked my parents to stay here for their first trip to the city. Romula was incredibly helpful and checked in with them to ensure they had everything they needed. She provided suggestions for activities and restaurants nearby. Even arranged for a pick up/drop off at the airport. They felt very comfortable in the flat and LOVED the area. My father has some pain when walking long distances but was still able to explore the city without any problems.

The apartment listing was very accurate and I agree with the positive reactions of most reviewers: clean, good location, quiet, good bed, good wi-fi, good value. The neighborhood has much to offer and location allowed us to walk to most places of interest. Near public transportation. Romula was exceptionally helpful and this made getting started in Rome quicker and easier.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this lovely apartment in Trastevere. The location is ideal for walking to and from all the major sites - The Vatican, Colesseum etc etc. There are heaps of little restaurants and cafes close by set amid little cobblestone streets and alleyways. Romula looked after us extremely well, organising airport transfers and even somewhere for us to store our luggage prior to our flight out of Rome. The apartment was just as described and we have no hesitation is recommending the property. Thank you Romula for making our Rome stay so memorable.

When I travel I like to find an accommodation that is reasonably priced, and also is clean and fresh, comfortable, and in a convenient location. This Trastevere apartment gets high points in all areas that are on my most important list, plus a few others. The owners are super helpful. This apartment is on the ground level. None of those super steep uneven stairways to navigate with your luggage. Close to the Vatican.

My husband and I spent a week in Romula's charming apartment right after the first of the year. It was wonderful. The neighborhood was fabulous with delicious/inexpensive restaurants and nice little shops. It was very real even with all of us tourists! And, once we closed the door to our little apartment, it was completely quiet. We felt at home from the moment we landed. Romula arranged for us to be picked up at the airport (at the same price as a regular taxi) and met us upon our arrival to show us everything and to take us grocery shopping! Who else would do that? The only knock(s)? My hubby found the apartment a bit of a tight fit. I on the other hand, found everything to be top quality. He couldn't get CNN to work. I don't "do" TV and found the WiFi for my computer to be excellent. So, you see... I'd go back in a minute!

As I sat at my computer in the US, looking at vrbo.com, I wondered if choosing an apt in Rome online would really work. I even sent Romula an email the day before leaving just to make sure everything was still OK. Imagine my relief and excitement when the driver knew exactly where we were going, when Romula and Claudio met us upon our arrival, and when we found that the apt was just as described. The renovations made the apt very comfortable, esp the new shower, kitchen and wi-fi. The location was perfect - in a secluded part of an old neighborhood within walking distance of most sights. Bus and tram were a block away - we bought a Roma pass which allowed us to move around easily on the bus. There is a very helpful information kiosk a block away. Small bars and shops that sell carry-out food and fresh bread are all over. It shows that Romula and Claudio are proud of their apt. They take good care of it and they want you to be able to do the same. Their personal touch and availability made a big difference in our comfort level. Favorite restaurants were Dar Sor Olimpio al Drago for a special night out and La Frachetta for great pasta/casual dining. This apt was a gem. Thank you Romula and Claudio.

In a busy area with shops an restaurants and was about a 20 minute walk from the coleseum and 30 to the Vatican. There was also plenty of transport with a minutes walk.. Romula was really nice and very helpful with advice Would highly recomend this apartment and would use again of i went back..

We visited Rome in Novemer 2011 for our Honeymoon. Since booking the apartment a year ago Romula has always been very helpful. We were collected from the airport by a lovely man who pointed out some monuments along the way. Romula was waiting for us with lots of facts, guidance and provided us with a map and directions to the local supermarket. The apartment was even better than the pictures, and very clean. There was plenty of hot water, and after all the walking we did we slept like babies. Very good location and everything is within walking distance. Very sad to leave, but were waved off by Romula and her husband and had a very nice lift arranged to take us back to the Hotel.
Owner response:I was so happy to host honeymooners and I wish you much happiness !!!!

This apartment is in a great location in Trastevere. It's really close to the main street and the main piazza (Santa Maria). There are tons of restaurants and shops nearby and the scenery is very picturesque. Old buildings, cobblestone streets, street vendors, all add to the location. We were able to check into the apartment a little early which was very convenient. Romula told us about all of the things we would need to know, grocery store, public transportation, restaurants, pick pockets, etc. And we had a quick cappucino with Romula while our apartment was being cleaned, how nice! I would absolutely stay in this apartment the next time I come back to Rome and would recommend it to anyone.

I cannot even describe how perfect this little apartment was for me. The entrance was just the beginning. Throughout my one week stay I saw many people taking pictures of my little Lane and it made me happy to walk past them with key in hand, thinking, yes I live here, for a week anyway. Since I was traveling alone, I was very concerned about dining out. I just don't like it, so after Romula and Claudio told me where to shop, I was able to prepare meals at the apartment using the freshest local ingredients. They also told me where to get wine at a decent price. The apartment had everything a person could possibly want and I felt like I was visiting relatives. I walked to every single site in Rome. I just loved walking to Trastevere. I got lost once and took two hours in the rain to get home, but walking into that apartment, shedding my wet clothes, and fixing a warm dinner and checking my email on the free WiFi was perfect. I cannot wait to return and I will plan my trip around the availability of this apartment. It was perfect in every way.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay in Rome. Travestere is definately the best area to stay. The arranged airport transfers were excellant. We had a warm welcome from Romula and her daughter, who drove us to the supermarket before it closed. The apartment was in a good position and well equipped. We were dissapointed that there wasn't a bath, as described on the site details, i think this is being confused with the spa facility in the shower. And to confirm what other reviewers have said, the person in the flat above gets up at 4am on a weekday and is very noisy. We could hear everything they did!
Owner response:I am very sorry to hear of your disappointed about the bath especially because the description on the web site is the following: “ The beautiful en-suite bathroom comes with a shower cabinet with hydro-massage system to enhance your moments of relaxation” and the photo represent the shower and not a bath. About the noise at 4 am is certainly a fact sporadic since no one has ever complained about it. I am sorry that you didn’t have communicated immediately, I would definitely intervened with my neighbors who are the nicest people and very helpful in any time. I want absolutely all of my guests shared more than satisfied with their stay in my little Suite, as evidenced by all the previous reviews, and that is why I ask to be contacted for any eventuality.

We very much enjoyed our stay! The apartment was clean, quiet, well equipped and centrally located and within walking distance to all of the sites in Rome (the Vatican, ancient Rome, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, all of which we visited during our stay). Trastevere itself is a very quaint neighborhood with many good restaurants and sites to see! Romula (the owner) was very helpful both prior to and during our trip in answering our many, many questions. And it was especially wonderful that she was there to greet us when we arrived (to ensure we had everything we needed) and when we departed (to ensure we knew which bus to catch en route to the train station). We would definitely stay here again!

My wife and I spent a week in The Luxury Suite in Trastevere and had a fabulous time!!!!. From the cobble stone roads and walkways to the "Bounasera " evening greetings from the very pleasant local women enjoying their coffee outside our suite, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The suite is steps away from outdoor dining and a stunning courtyard with a water fountain that is hundreds of years old..The owner of the suite is Romula and her husband Claudio.. Romula if one of the most pleasant, dedicated and hardworking persons you will ever meet!!!! She works tirelessly to make sure your stay is both enjoyable and stress free.. Romula arranged to have a driver meet us at Rome airport and drive us to the suite where we were greeted with a big smile and "Buongiorno" by Romula and her daughter.. She showed us the suite that is very clean and professionally decorated with everything you will need. During our stay, Romula was always available and very willing to assist with any questions we had. We will be returning to Italy and will definitely stay here again and with Romula owning a travel agency in Rome we will have her organize our travel arrangements for our visits outside the city. Grazie Mille Romula!!!!! Alex & Penny

Hi Roomula: We loved our week in Trastevere. Your apartment was lovely - spotlessly clean and with great linens and bath towels. After walking around Rome for many hours, it was a delight to come "home" to your air conditioned suite. Trastevere is a very lively area in which we found many wonderful, inexpensive restaurants. We appreciated the fact that you were there to greet us on our arrival and explained all the small details which made our vacation so enjoyable. There was plenty of hot water for our many showers. The little lane in which your apartment is located must be one of the most photographed in all of Rome. The picture takers were somewhat disappointed to find only three Canadians exiting - not the picturesque elderly Romans they were expecting. We found the driver you gave us to the airport very charming as he practiced his English and my husband practiced his very modest Italian. All in all, we would and will heartily recommend your apartment to friends and family travelling to Rome. Many thanks again.
Owner response:It is a joy for me to read all the details of your revew so beautiful words that if it wasn't about my apartment I surely decide to book such a nice stay in Rome !!!! Many Thanks

My husband and I stayed in Romula’s apartment with our teenage daughter for a week in August. Both the apartment itself and the location in Trastevere are ideal. The neighborhood is great to walk around, very picturesque with cobblestone squares and teeming with restaurants and bars. The apartment is located at the end of an alley, so is quiet at night and very secure. Everything you need is provided, including plenty of towels and bathrobes, and there is a small safe for valuables. After a long hot day of sightseeing it is so nice to relax in your own private living room and enjoy a glass of wine. There is a supermarket just a couple of blocks away for groceries, wine, beer, etc. You can be at the bridge in 2 minutes, and from there can walk to almost all of the sights of Rome, but there is also tram/bus available close by. Romula is a neat lady who takes good care of her guests. She helped us out with suggestions to book online reservations for the Vatican, and then printed the tickets out and delivered them to us. We took advantage of the car service she offered to and from the airport; the driver was waiting exactly as agreed and it made the transfer with baggage so much easier. We would definitely stay here again on any future trip to Rome. Mille grazie Romula, and I hope you are enjoying your well-earned vacation!

I rented this apartment in August 2011 and it was really great! The apartment is thoughtfully equipped and has absolutely everything you need. Very clean, well decorated, nice bathroom, hair dryer, satellite TV, phone, wifi, etc, and the beds were very comfortable. We particularly liked being a part of the neighborhood. There are several good restaurants and gelato places just steps out the door, it was a blast, and totally adds to the experience of living and eating in Rome. The owner was very helpful. I highly recommend this apartment!!! ? Em portugues: Aluguei o apartamento em Agosto/2011 e foi uma experiência maravilhosa! My two adult children and I enjoyed 4 days in July at this very beautiful suite and we found everything to be as described. This was our first time to Rome. Although the suite was small, it certainly met all our needs. The area in Trastevere definitely makes you feel you are staying amongst the locals. Everything is very close by..places to eat, grocery store, transportation, shopping and, as we did not have a lap top with us, the Internet cafe was a welcome sight. A phone is available in the suite and when the need arose we were able to reach Romula right away. After a day sight seeing in Rome, we would highly recommend the Suite as the place to come back to.

My husband and I stayed in this wonderful apartment for a week in late June at the end of our trip to Italy and were so delighted with it. The location is fantastic and is walking distance to everywhere but if you don't like to walk the option of public transport is almost outside the door!! The apartment is clean, spacious and has everything you need and is situated in possibly the cutest laneway in Rome. The area of Trastevere is great, day and night, with shops and restaurants handy if you don't feel like venturing far from home. Romula and Claudio are lovely people and wonderful hosts and went out of their way to make our stay just perfect. We would definitely stay here again if we are ever lucky enough to go back to Rome. We have already recommended this apartment to many of our friends.

My husband, adult daughter and I stayed for 3 nights in June at this wonderful apartment! The apartment is even better than the pictures and descriptions and the location is great! There are picturesque shops and restaurants right outside the door and within a 30 minute walk you can visit Vatican City, Ancient Rome and many other famous squares and sites. Romula is the most delighful host and was extremely helpful getting us oriented to this amazing city. If you need transportation to and from the airport, make sure you have Romula make the arrangements. The driver she uses was on time and a most engaging gentleman! I most positively recommend "The Luxury Suite in Trastevere"!

We did not feel as if we were in a touristy neighborhood and it was so nice to walk down the alley and be greeted with a daily "Buongiorno" from the nice ladies living a couple apartments down. We highly recommend the 1 euro risotto balls from the pizza place near the end of the alcove. I don't think pictures really capture what a pleasant location this is to stay and feel like you're really living in Rome. We walked to ALL the major attractions from here with no problem (though that may not be recommended for less physically active folks). The bathroom is lovely, and we thoroughly enjoyed cooking ourselves breakfast every morning in the kitchen. Romula is such pleasant and wonderful hostess as well. She promptly responded to all of our questions promptly and cheerfully.

Myself and 2 children stayed in Romula and Claudio's apartment for 3 nights in June this year. It was our first stop in Italy after a long flight from Australia. Romula organized a driver to pick us up at the airport which was great, when you're tired you don't want to hassle around with public transport. Romula and Claudio were waiting to greet us when we arrived and were very friendly and welcoming. They are very proud of their gorgeous little apartment as they should be. The location of it is amazing. Trastevere is such an authentic little Italian district and the apartment is situated at the end of the quaintest little lane way - we took many photos and they are among our favourites of the whole trip. After a run-through of how everything in the apartment worked, Romula took us to our first gelato shop, which may not look as flashy as some of the others around Rome, but was one of our favourites. It is right near the apartment, as are many great restaurants. You can walk to Rome in a short time, or we mostly jumped in a cab( the taxirank is very close to the apartment and we never had to wait for one) and got all over Rome for between 7-10 euros each trip! This saved us time in waiting for buses so we could fit more into our day. We loved our stay in Trastevere and can highly recommend this apartment to couples, or families with 1 child. It was probably our favourite location of the whole trip!Thank you Romula and Claudio.
Owner response:Thanks so much for all the details that you gave about your stay in Trastevere. I am happy that you had a pleasant stay and hope to see you again in the next future.

My wife and I stayed in Romulas apartment the first 10 days of June, simply put... we loved it. It worked very well for exploring ancient Rome, we could walk to just about any site in 10-45 minutes. Romula and Claudio are wonderful people that really want your stay in their apartment to be exceptional. We loved the area and the atmosphere, the nightlife was great and walking around at night was not a problem. We were going to try a different resturant every night and then found Hostaria del Moro 'da Tony' This resturant was exceptional, the owner "Tony" was great and the head waiter "Alex" will take good care of you. They are located on Vicolo del Cinque, 35-37 not far from Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, this Piazza is not far from the apartment and is a great place for having Geleteria and doing some people watching. Don't ignore the church, it is well worth visiting. Thanks Romula for a wonderful vacation.
Owner response:We are so happy that you had a pleasant stay. Many thanks to you.

The apartment was perfect! It was lovely to stay at, I could easlily live there. Very cozy and clean, and beautifuly decorated. There is a supermarket a few blocks away, and the location is incredible, a beautiful calm neighorhood, with geat restaurants. We walked everywhere, it is a great walking distance for the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Colisseum etc... except the Vatican, but the bus stop is very close. Romula is a great help for anything you need, airport service or tips. There are no stairs to get to the apartment, so its great for people carrying big suitcases. I will stay there again when I return to Rome! Thank you Romula it was a great place!

My wife and I spent a wonderful 4 nights as this lovely suite. The accommodation has a warm, homely feel about the place, and has some gorgeous features. The exposed original wall behind the headboard in the bedroom is a lovely touch - and very clever too! The location is superb - you are literally seconds away from excellent bars and restaurants - but down a little alley with a dead end so get no through 'traffic' of people. It is extremely quiet and to say you are in a bustling city, its just perfect. You often see people having photo's took in the alleyway as it is such a picture book setting - a true representation of a lovely Roman street! The photo's represent the suite perfectly and in some cases don't do it enough justice. The exposed beams and wood are beautiful. The facilities are excellent too although the shower took some getting used to. Trastevere is a fantastic location, and you get to see more of the true Rome without masses of tourists. There's some great eateries around and the prices are unbelievably cheap in some of them - but the quality of food is excellent. Romula is a perfect host, and offered some great tips and advice on arrival. My wife and I genuinely can't speak highly enough of this place - it was a fantastic place to be in a wonderful city. We will certainly be back to Rome, to Trastevere, and back to this suite. Thanks a lot Romula!

We thoroughly enjoyed our three days in Romula's apartment. Romula met us at the door upon our arrival, explained all about the unit, and made a few excellent suggestions for restaurants. Great location; easy walk to all the sights. We definitely will consider returning to the 'Luxury Suite' when we again visit Rome.

We arrived ready for Italy, and weren't dissapointed . We love to be in the action, so if you want a quiet street with no one around,Trastevere is not that place. The restaurants, cobblestone streets and music are abundant. We loved our location, comfortable accomodations, everything is provided including nice towels and hair dryer.Great shower, good bed and we loved being right in amoungst it. Would come back for sure. We stayed here for 3 nights and then took off for Tuscany. When we arrived we had a car /driver waiting for us at the airport. We love Italy!! We walked across the bridge daily to see Rome. You don't need a car here! Thanks Romula for a great start to our 3 weeks.

I don't know where to start, everything was wonderful. The apartment is spacious, gracious, well-fitted with everything anyone could want. The location is perfect, just minutes away from a tram and bus line, surrounded by wonderful restaurants and charming shops. Romula and her husband Claudio were perfect hosts, arranging trains and being helpful in every way they could. The property was beautifully maintained and stocked. tucked into a charming little lane. We went to this apartment on an enthusiastic recommendation and I would recommend it to anyone going to Rome.

Both my husband and myself were very impressed with the apartment, everything was there as described. Great location for visiting all of Rome's wonderful sites. We did get the tram a few times as this cut down on the walking time, a really inexpensive way to get into the centre. The tram was really useful on our final day to get to the railway station and then to the airport, tram price 1euro. would be useful to mention tram in description as we only cottoned onto it the day after we arrived and would have been useful to know when we arrived. Would have saved a 20 min walk from station. I would highly recommend Romula's place to stay. Thanks

My daughters and I stayed in Romula and Claudio's apt. (March 5-11, 2011). Traveling from Florida, where it was warm, I realized when I reached the airport that I'd left my coat at home. I e-mailed Romula to let me know where I could buy a coat in Rome. When the driver dropped us off at the apt., Romula was there to greet us and promptly asked who was without a coat, because she'd brought one of her's from home! I bought one in the Philadelphia airport, but that was an extremely sweet of her. The apt. is as described, at the end of a quiet little street, but shops and restaurants are literally around the corner. We loved the pizza at the little place around the corner. We also enjoyed our dinner at Enoteca Trastevere, also around the corner and a short walk away (86 Via della Lungaretta) for a different dining experience. The food was very good and one can stop in for a drink, glass of wine, or just dessert. For Bank of America cusomters there's a BNL Bank off of San Fco. A Ripa where there are no svc. charges for your withdrawls. The apt. is convenient to everything one needs, and walkable to all the sites. It is in a great location! PS Except for morning linen deliveries for the restaurant down the street, the apt. was very quiet and we didn't hear the upstairs neighbor, as indicated by a previous reviewer.

We stayed in the apartment from 23/2/11-1/3/11 and it was brilliant for us. This was our second stay in Rome and we had stayed in another apartment on our last visit. This apartment was far superior. It is in a brilliant location, within easy walking distance from the sights, in an area that has lots of lovely restaurants (Romula recommended a restaurant that was just round the corner & we went there twice, took 6 friends who were staying in the Centre and they said it was the best meal they had eaten on their stay) also many bars and little shops. Romula was really helpful and left her phone number at work and home so that she could be contacted at any time. The apartment is located in the middle of everything but is very quiet and a great resting place. Perfect. We will definitely try and book it when we return in 2 years to watch Wales play rugby against Italy. Helen & Keith

Myself, my wife Shirley and our dearest friend Cookie stayed at Romula"s apartment in Trastevere from February 14 thru February 19th 2011. The apartment was just as pictured in the ad. Romula was a fantastic host!! Property was exceptionally clean and well maintained. We had a fantastic time in Rome and would recommend this apartment to anyone on a budget. Great value for what you are paying. Tourist information booth is just around the corner. Restaurants and open air market all within 100 yds of your doorway. Just so much to see!! Impossible to recommend less than a dozen sites close by. Busses and trains within easy walking distance, Internet cafe within two blocks. We will be staying here whenever we are in Rome again. P.S. Have Romula show you how to unfold the hide-a- bed, as one American to many others, you will never figure this out until you see her do it!!! Thank You Romula for being such a Great Host!! Bill, Shirley celebrating 25 years together with Cookie

I stayed at Romula's apartment in Tratevere from 2/1/11-2/7/11.....and it was not long enough!! I really enjoyed the apartment's amenities and the close proximity to great nightlife and restaurants. (This apartment was also very quiet at night...didn't need to use the ear plugs I had packed!) Very close to tram and bus stops, making it a breeze to explore the nearby sights. Romula was an amazing hostess, and was very accomodating. She replied quickly to any questions I had, and made me feel right at home. The pictures posted here on vrbo really do not do this apartment justice, as it is even better in person. Can't wait to make a journey back to Trastevere and stay at this apt. again!

We stayed in the apartment for 8 nights in January. What to say that hasn't been said before? The place is beautiful -- even better than the pictures. The location is amazing -- about a 10 minute walk to the Forum and Campo, plus dozens of restaurants, cafes, bars and gelateria within spitting distance... it's a lovely neighborhood, filled with life. It was very lively in the winter, especially on weekends, so I can imagine it will be a mob scene in the summer. It's good the apartment is tucked away on a quiet dead-end street, away from the fray. We loved Ai Fienaroli around the corner and ate there twice. Try the frozen gorgonzola with honey for dessert. Unreal. Our daily gelato was bought about 50 feet from the apartment at Luna di Fiori, just to die for. Bachanale was great for a beer. Laundromat and grocery store about 2 blocks away. Ai Marmi was wonderful for pizza, get there by 7 pm. Istanbul Kebab was yummy for a non-Italian lunch. Romula is a delight. She helped us when our flight home was cancelled, and was available by phone and email virtually the entire time we were there. She is one hard-working gal! Our only very, VERY minor quibbles: The apartment is dark, but you can see that in the photographs. It's very easy to sleep in because you have no idea what time it is! The bath towels are more like hand towels. Way too small. The upstairs neighbor goes to work very early and walks around on the wood floor in heels, so you may hear her and her bathroom plumbing. The house next door is used for restaurant storage, so you'll hear workers coming and going throughout the day, hauling carts full of water bottles, soda, tables and chairs. The loudest seagulls I've ever heard in my life hang out in the lot behind the apartment. But, like I said, these are minor issues -- for the most part, the place is quiet and peaceful. We loved it and would heartily recommend it to anyone looking for a charming place in Rome.
Owner response:Thanks for your very detailed review. I will do my best to follow up your suggestions so when you will come back, it will be perfect !!!!!

We stayed at the Suite in Trastevere between Christmas and New Years in 2010, and it was indeed a good choice. It is thoughtfully appointed, and has little touches to make it feel like home, like a fully equipped kitchen and thick bathrobes for guests. It is also well located, walking distance from the Parthenon and Coliseum and even the Vatican is do-able by foot. As promised in the other reviews, Romula and he husband are delightful and were very helpful. There are a couple of things I should mention -- just as full disclosure -- although these issues would not keep us from renting again. The first is that the extremely luxurious high-volume shower head isn't super compatible with the rather small hot-water storage tank (~80 liters). We were unpleasantly surprised when we completely ran out of hot water after very short showers in the first few days of our stay! We even thought maybe something was wrong with the hot water heater! We ended up solving the problem by having one of us shower in the evening and one in the morning and not turning the shower on to full capacity, but something good to know. The other thing to mention is that there is no door between the living room area of the suite and the bedroom. This wasn't a problem for us, because we are a family of three -- my husband and me and our small son -- but also something good to know if you are planning to stay. Other than that, we had a great trip to Rome and really enjoyed having a nice, comfortable place to stay after busy days seeing the sites.
Owner response:Dear Elizabeth Thanks for your revew. I'm very sorry you had two inconvenients but I want to spend only a few words to reply about them. Usually I rent the apartment to a couple and when you asked for the availability you didn't mention your son, otherwise I would have told you that there were no doors between the two rooms. Second, when you told me there was a problem with the hot water I came the same day with the plomber to fix it up but you didn't allow me to get and you told me "everything is ok". In any case I wish u a happy new year hoping I'll have the pleasure to see you again.

Cannot say enough positive things about this property and the owner. An all around fantastic experience. Trastevare is a great location--adorable neighborhood with restaurants galore literally steps from the unit; a bit off the beaten path, but so accessible to everything (and the unit is located just across the river, so not too far into Trastavere). Great property--small, but totally modernized with modern bathroom, including shower and all amenities. Owner was great--very responsive and accommodating. Answered all questions promptly, and even helped to arrange airport pick-up. All in all, the ideal VRBO experience!

We just stayed in this apartment in Dec 2010. First of all, Romula is amazingly helpful and so sweet! The apartment is small, but has everything you need. It's close to just about everything, food, nightlife and within walking distance to many of the top Rome sites. A plus is that Romula is a travel agent and goes out of her way to be helpful. Can't wait to go back!

I stayed in Romula's apartment for three nights at the beginning of December, as I had a conference in Rome. I have stayed in similar-sized apartments all over the world, and I can say without hesitation that this one was by far the best. Romula arranged for my airport transportation, and when I arrived at Fiumicino, the driver was right there waiting as promised. The apartment is in an absolutely perfect location, in the heart of Trastevere (but, as others have mentioned, its location at the end of a quiet alley made it seem like I was sleeping in an Umbrian village). It is at the crux of three important bridges to the historic center - one that leads almost directly to the Campo di Fiori, one that leads to the Jewish Ghetto and the Portico d' Ottavia, and one that leads to Palatine Hill. So, you can leave the apartment and short, breathtakingly beautiful walks in all directions will take you to the most important Roman sites. Not to take anything away from Trastevere itself, which is, as I mentioned, like a little Italian village (sort of like Lucca or Parma actually). The restaurant that Romula recommended, Ai Fienaroli, typically Roman and completely non-pretentious, is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. I abandoned my intention to eat at as many trattoria as possible after my first meal at this place... I ate there for every meal. Apartment is QUIET at night. It is very well furnished and very tastefully designed, with a very well-calibrated heating and air conditioning unit, flat screen Samsung TV in the living room, safe for valuables, bedside lights with easily reachable switches and outlets, a nice bathroom with a larger than normal (by European standards) shower and shower massage. The door is equipped with a strong security locking mechanism. I would HIGHLY recommend that anyone stay here when in Rome. Romula's hospitality made this the perfect three day package!
Owner response:Thanks Eric for your long descriptions ! I hope to see you again in Rome with your little family !
