Beautiful House One Block from Sonoma Plaza and Sonoma Mission

This two-story garden retreat is an architectural gem located one block from the historic Sonoma Plaza with its shops, restaurants and wineries.
Walk along the curvy flagstone path to the double French entrance doors. Enter into the “great room”. Note the naturally distressed recycled-wood flooring. To your left is the sitting area with gas fireplace, leather sofa, assorted chairs, and Oriental rug. To your right is an 8 foot long French farm table which seats eight. The fully-appointed kitchen was designed with entertaining friends in mind. Down the hall is a cozy library with stone fireplace, flat-screen TV, and surround sound. The sleeping areas are comfortable and private.
Sit on the front porch and read a book or sip a glass of wine. Gather with friends under the vine-covered pergola. Depending upon the season, the garden features lavender, wisteria, fragrant yellow roses, California poppies, and purple clematis. It is accented by a softly burbling fountain.
HGTV included Chez Winnie in it's '2009 Dream Home Sonoma' program as one of the delightful homes of this beautiful town.

The Delights of Staying at Chez Winnie
The Delights of Staying at Chez Winnie

A jewel in the heart of Sonoma nestled among roses and lavender. Evenings spent under the wisteria covered pergola, a fine local Chardonnay in hand, watching happy and content people strolling by on their way to the Plaza a block away. A piece of heaven on earth accentuated by the beauty of Chez Winnie and its wonderful and warm owners.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much! As I've always said, we love sharing Chez Winnie and Sonoma with you. Looking forward to your visit next year!

Considering my age, I can say I have been on a considerable number of vacations across the decades. I can say without hesitation this vacation has had a richness like no other. I have reflected much lately about why I feel that way. Sonoma County (and Sonoma proper) are breathtakingly beautiful. The "local color" and ambiance is one of a celebration of life. The vineyards, the food, the flowers.....but most of all the people have touched a special place inside me. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home. We share a special gratitude for the effort you made to "meet and greet" us in Sonoma-style. Thank you so very much. Warmly,Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Winnie and Bob -- Thank you so much for letting us spend a month in your "little piece of heaven". We can't tell you how relaxed we feel. We celebrated 44 years of marriage while we where here and truly created a lasting memory. We are looking at 2012 to find a month to return and will let you know within a couple of weeks what month we'd like. Again, thanks for all your hospitality.Did you find this review helpful? What a beautiful place to stay! The house is perfect- new everything, great kitchen and gardens. We walked to Sonoma center every day, ate and drank well. The vineyards are a short drive. We had one small problem and the owners took care of it immediately. We would highly recommend this place.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
