Parisians say that Montmartre is "un vrai village", a genuine village, and it truly is. If you avoid the tourist scene at Sacre Coeur, you are living just like a Parisian of old with all the neighborhood merchants and the same neighbors that you see each day as you go about your errands on the cobblestoned streets. Everyone who has ever stayed in our place has been enchanted with the "quartier", a very vibrant place.

We are close to music and theater venues, and there is a thriving local nightlife for young people or the young at heart as well as great shopping for food, art, clothing, antiques, you name it. There is even an excellent French language school within walking distance.

Montmartre was outside the walls of old Paris and has a fascinating history. It was the home of many of the artists of the late 19th and early 20th century. Toulouse Lautrec, Matisse, Picasso, Van Gogh are just a few who lived and worked here. The area is still home to many artists and there are small galleries on every street.

The apartment is open and full of light with floor to ceiling windows in both rooms, a queen size bed, a full sized dresser and closet in the bedroom as well as a queen size convertible bed with an excellent mattress in the salle de sejour. There is a second small closet in the salle de sejour so that 4 people can stay comfortably.

We love to cook so the kitchen is completely functional, and we give you recommendations for local shopping and restaurants. In addition, we have a bilingual woman who will meet you and be available by telephone during your stay if a problem arises. She is like a concierge but does not live in the building.

We are in an 18th century building that was once a hotel where we are told Jacques Brel lived when he first came to Paris as a young man. Our apartment is on the 4th floor (5th US) on the back of the building, which is quieter. Yes, there is an elevator as well as two security doors at the entrance.

Both Metro Abbesses and Metro Anvers are close, and the bus stops at the corner, so you can be anywhere in Paris within 15-20 minutes. Gare du Nord, where you catch Eurostar or the RER to the airport, is a 15 minute walk.

This is our second home and very special to us, so we only share with special people who appreciate Paris as we do. We hope you will be one of them.

    • This was our first time in Paris and we stayed in this apartment for 7 nights and loved it. We have a 4 year old and we were worried there wouldn't be enough room, but it had plenty of room with a homey feel. The way apartment was arranged was great. Also not enough can be said about the terrific location! We would like to stay here again. Merci!

    • We stayed at the apartment in April of 2009. It was a pleasure to have such great accommodations in the heart of Paris. The apartment was clean and functional. It was a true bargain without sacrificing comfort. We have already recommended this Parisian apartment to our friends.

    • My husband and I stayed here for 10 days in June/July and absolutely loved it. We really started to feel at home in the city. The apartment was very clean, comfortable and having the fully functioning kitchen was fabulous because we like to cook. All the owners restaurant suggestions really panned out as well. do take the walking tour of Montmartre - it is so interesting and fun. We fell in love with the neighborhood. Although the metro is very close, we found ourselves walking to other parts of Paris very easily. We will stay here again.

    • My wife and I have stayed at this wonderful apartment three different times. It is very well maintained and has lots of light and comfortable furnishings. Since the owners live there part of the year, the kitchen is particularly well furnished with cooking implements and basic supplies. They also have a good selection of guide books. Great neighborhood with good stores and restaurants. Just stay clear of the place de Tertre where you might be trampled by the legions of tourists.
