Terraza Choi, 10 minutes by Tuk Tuk from Panajachel, is a lovely home perched 40 meters above the lakefront of Lake Atitlan. Spacious and open, fireplace in the living room, with a large front terrace and views of the lake and volcanoes.
Three bedrooms, one with a king size bed and two with queens, two baths (the upstairs bedrooms share a bath) with a cushioned private sun terrace with shade umbrella for the upstairs bedrooms and both bedrooms have fireplaces. The main floor bedroom has a private bath.
Main terrace with hammock, sound system and fridge for beverages. The terrace is well appointed and comfortable. Bar-b-cue on the main terrace as well as on the beachfront.
Manicured terraced gardens leading down from the house to the beachfront. Pathway lighting is provided for night-time access to the beachfront.
We have three Ocean Kayaks available for the use of guests, free of charge; two singles and one double together with lifejackets. There is no better way to get to know the lake than by kayaking to different villages, the hot springs and to view the lakefront homes.
The waterfront also has a sun deck with deck chairs together with umbrellas and a bar-b-cue.
The property is staffed with a fulltime housemaid and a groundskeeper.

Why the Owner Chose Santa Catarina Palopo
My husband built Terraza Choi in 2000 and, upon getting married in 2004, we moved here.
We have made it a very nice home over these past years and I am especially interested in the "cordon bleu" school of food preparation - hence our well appointed kitchen.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our home has quite a unique welcome to it. Inviting and comfortable, with a great deal of "curb appeal." We are told by guests that they feel comfortable and at home from the moment they walk in the door. "It simply has a good feeling to it."
We are outside the hustle and bustle of Panajachel and Santa Catarina Palopo here on the waterfront between the two villages.
There is a wonderful peace and tranquility that we enjoy here. The lake changes colour with the position of the sun and we look at the views of the volcanoes tirelessly.

We were invited to be the houseguests of Terraza Choi by the owner. Her idea is to promote the rental of her home in Europe and especially in Switzerland. Her belief is that Terraza Choi is suitable for the meticulous standards for which Europe is known and we were not disappointed. The house is exquisite and the detail of construction, layout and the level of maintenance is incomparable. We were very impressed. The house is warm and inviting and we felt at home the moment we arrived. There is a nice self-contained ambiance inside the house but when we walked out onto their enormous terrace and saw the view, it was breath-taking. The combination is stunning. We felt that we were on an island unto ourselves. The layout is practical and very conducive to living. High ceilings, cross ventilation, enormous Kommerling doors and windows that hermetically seal when closed - the temperature inside the house is comfortable day and night. Most of the waterfront homes in Atitlan have shorts roof lines which is the result of wanting a view of the lake from every point in the house. Sadly, this feature tends to leave the front wall exposed and they warm up in the afternoon sun which is intensified by reflecting off the lake. Terraza Choi's roof lines are high and long. They afford the view but also shelter the interior of the house from the heat of the sun. As a result, we were able to enjoy the warmth of the fireplace whenever we felt like it. We were also pleased to see that the owner is highly conscious of the need to avoid contaminating the lake. All septic is channeled to a biodigestor and grey water is dispersed into several very large "french drains" of the owner's design. The combination provides for no discharge of contamination into the lake or the underlying water table whatsoever. The gardens have a natural but manicured look to them and the walk down to the beachfront is punctuated by nooks and alcoves where cushioned seats have been strategically placed; each with a different view and all very comfortable for curling up to read a good book. We spent a great deal of time sunning ourselves both on the cushioned private sun terrace on the top floor but also down at the beach on the deck over the boathouse where a food preparation area an ample brick bar-b-cue are located. We believe that Terraza Choi is a very suitable option for the European market and it carries our highest endorsement and we are very pleased to write this review of Terraza Choi.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
