Eco Friendly, Custom Log Lodge - Views Into Yellowstone
Why the Owner Chose Gardiner
We built this home from recycled materials found in Montana. The original building was an old homestead built in the 1800's that a farmer was going to burn down. Instead, we tore down the logs and re-stacked it in Jardine. Other materials include an old fence torn down by a neighbor. The walls are plaster with slate in the bathrooms and kitchen. This used to be our home and we loved the unique touches. Please come and see for yourself the beauty in recycling.
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge
Please enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine from the front deck and gaze into Yellowstone. In the winter, you can watch the steam rise from Mammoth Hot Springs. Outside your front door, you can hike, bike, watch wildlife, raft or horseback ride. Not too far away is fly fishing and all the joys of Yellowstone.

Great Stay

The facility was everything it was described to be and very comfortable. The proximity to Yellowstone was great, and the outdoor recreation possibilities were many. Unfortunately, we did not luck into a lot of snow this year, but still enjoyed our stay. The space was great for young kids - and we appreciated the toy cupboard! Great facility - we all agree we'd like to come back!

While, we had no strict guidelines in place for our trip to the Yellowstone area this time with regard to lodging, we just knew we wanted to be as close as we could to our daughter and her brand new baby...we were never-the-less pleasantly surprised! .This worked out perfect for us, a 30 second walk down the hill....but then we walked into sunny slopes lodge and knew we were going to really enjoy our stay. from the moment we arrived at Sunny slopes.....we thought "what a lovely place" since then..we have been walking around in amazement at the forethought, creativity and craftsmanship, not to mention the setting and decorating techniques- it now feels like our home away from home!...a view from every room! So quiet and peaceful and a feeling of looking down on the rest of the world. We hope to come back at over the holidays as both of our children live out here and last year we spent the holidays without them....we vowed to not spend another year like that! We have enjoyed cooking for the kids while we are here...even homemade bread!.......decided we will wooden spoons to donate on the next trip!

Our family just spent our second fall vacation at the Sunny Slope Lodge. We loved the cabin, the views, and the quick access to Yellowstone. Our crew consisted of 4 children, between the ages of 3 and 7, and 5 adults. We found the cabin to be the perfect environment for adult relaxation and exuberant playing from the younger set, and a great base for adventures into the park as well as up the road to Jardine and a trail head into the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness area. The cabin is well stocked with puzzles, books, and games for young children, the kitchen had everything we were looking for, but remember to bring your own toiletries for the bathrooms.

The cabin was beautiful and rustic. I appreciated the natural wood features as well as some of the details in the bathrooms (i.e. sinks). I especially enjoyed the mountains surrounding the cabin. We truly did enjoy our stay there. However, we did have a few minor problems which should be noted. The master bathroom's shower water temp. could not be controlled properly- it often went form hot to cold, etc. When turning on the shower or sink faucet in the master bath, a strong odor was emitted that smelled like the sulfur in the nearby geysers. There were a number of loose hinges on cabinets. When we needed to clean up a mess in the kitchen, we attempted to use the vacuum which did not work. Finally, I wish the cabin was a bit cleaner- my in-laws found large dust bunnies on the floor of their closet. Even though we had a few problems, the overall stay was very good. I would definitely recommend this cabin to others. I also give the property manager a very high review. Jessica was always very prompt with responding to emails, answering questions, helping as needed, etc.which helped make planning the trip to Yellowstone so much easier.
Owner response:Thank you for the feedback regarding your stay at the Sunny Slope Lodge. We take great pride in our vacation rentals especially this lodge as we built it ourselves. Not living on site, we do rely on guest feedback to monitor quality control in our vacation rentals and are disappointed to hear that your stay did not exceed expectations. Our apologies for any housecleaning issues you may have encountered and know that we will work with staff to address any future incidents of that nature. For future guests, please let us know of any issues while you are staying at the lodge. We can have our maintenance and cleaning crew to the lodge within an hour to make your vacation more pleasurable. It is important to us that everyone is happy with their accomodations and is able to enjoy Yellowstone and all it has to offer.

We had the good fortune of being able to stay in this home for close to a full month of April 2011. We were working on a product launch as well as working on a book offer so we needed a very peaceful and secluded place to work. This home and property were exactly that and so very much more! The home is beautifully appointed and the photos and description hardly do it justice. Really, the home is unusual in that most of it has been built using reclaimed wood and iron with a gorgeous slate floor. This home is artistic, light-filled, and warm and inviting. The furniture is incredibly comfortable and new and the bedrooms and beds are very comfortable and private. The windows are floor to ceiling in the great room and the loft space upstairs (where I completed my writing during the month) has gorgeous views of the entire valley and up the mountain. There is a lovely window seat which we spent several afternoons reading and watching the flora and fauna, just gorgeous. The lady who looks after the place was so helpful to us driving up the mountain on the Friday night of our arrival to make sure the home was ready for us and then driving herself (and family) up the mountain again later that night when the propane (and heat!) weren't working. She was kind enough to call the propane company to come out that night and refill the propane which we were very grateful to her as it was in the 30's and dropping. Later we had an issue with the wifi which we needed to be working so we could run our businesses and stay connected with our publisher and vendors. Once again, she was on it and made sure the wifi was in working order for our stay. We absolutely love Yellowstone and the Gardiner area and fell in love with this particular part of the area. It snowed for most of the month, which was just fine with us, and we did make several trips into the park to hike through the snow and watch the wildlife. If you have ever thought about coming out to Yellowstone in the winter, try the month of April because there are a lot less tourists and the park is yours. Plus, it's such a beautiful way to see the geysers and wildlife. We will absolutely stay at this home again and will leave you with an image of a watching the snow fall while a fire is going and absolute peacefulness and serenity, just an absolute experience and once in a lifetime opportunity.

What a beautiful setting and the house is gorgeous too! I rented this place to have a xmas gathering for me and 7 of my friends. We couldn't of chosen a better place. The house was clean and well equipped and the beds were extremely comfortable. None of us wanted to get up in the morning. I would definitely recommend this place and I myself would love to stay again sometime. The North entrance to Yellowstone National Park is only a few miles away, which is super convenient. If you plan to stay here during the winter, be sure to have good tires or 4wheel drive if there is snow on the ground. The driveway can be a challenge for a wimpy sedan :)
