Owner Description

My husband and I love to travel and are very family oriented. We have 3 girls, ages 8, 6 and 2. I am an interior designer by trade and throroughly enjoyed the task of renovating and decorating this condo! We essentially gutted the home in the summer of 2008 and made it one of the best decorated and furnished rentals on the market in our area today! We were told we were making it "too nice" but we hope that the people who have the opportunity to make our home, their "home away from home" will appreciate the little extras we put into the condo!

Why the Owner Chose Monarch Beach

We have found ourselves vacationing in Southern California year after year after year. We have many friends and family in the area and decided on Dana Point because of its central location between San Diego and Los Angeles. We also love the small beach town feel of the Dana Point and Laguna Beach area. There are many artists galleries, great restaurants, shops and wonderful beaches. We figured if it is good enough for The Ritz Carlton and the St. Regis, it was good enough for us! The view is the biggest reason why we chose this condo. That view is never going away and we just love watching the sunset from inside our rooms. We also love that there is a community pool for the kids and that we can easily walk to the beach. What more could you want in a second home?

The Unique Benefits of this Condominium

We really do relish in the fact that we can sit on our patio with a glass of wine and watch the sunset over Catalina Island. It is gorgeous. You can also get to just about everything very easily from our condo. In less than 45 minutes you can get to Disney, Legoland, SeaWorld, The San Diego Zoo, etc. In an hour you are in LA or San Diego. We are also really happy with our decision to just gut the entire condo and start over. We put in new bathrooms, new kitchen, new windows, doors, everything. We don't regret that. It is just nice to know that everything works and that everything is fresh and clean! We hope you enjoy our home. It is the perfect little "getaway"!!

    • Fabulous Location + Meticulous Interior + The Best of Southern California = A Vacation We Look Forward To Returning! Who knew this tucked away little gem would become our favorite California vacation spot? No, it is not right on the beach, because there is a row of multi-million-dollar beach-front mansions by the water, but this property’s location cannot be better positioned because it is perfectly on top of a small hill that gives it a marvelous ocean view that any luxury hotel would charge a leg and arm for. Two exits onto the gorgeous Dana Point beach are within 3-minute walking distance. In the beautiful autumn weather, every day we enjoyed swimming in the ocean, running on the boardwalk, exploring the hillsides off the beach, and strolling in the charming neighborhood. We especially loved taking a dolphin and whale watch tour right off the beach in front of the property – within only one mile off the shore we saw hundreds of wild dolphins and even two gigantic mommy and baby blue whales! Staying at the property feels completely like home. Not only do we have our own covered parking, we also have access to the swimming pool. With a long list of fine restaurants and so many other wonderful places of interest nearby, one is tempted to live here :-)

    • My wife and I recently took a west coast vacation from LA, Palm Springs, to OC. The highlight of our trip was the stay at Beverly and Paul's Dana Point property. The location is unbeatable – we can see the deep blue Pacific Ocean from not only the balcony over cocktails but also the bedroom while lying down! The neighborhood is both quiet and high end, while the pristine beach is a short stroll away. A look at the map, anyone will recognize just how perfectly situated this property is; but it is the interior finishes that are hard to appreciate without physically being there. The owners have clearly taken not just great care but equal pride in decorating this beautiful property. Throughout, one feels surrounded by a professional designer’s fine touches. From the living room to bathroom, from the kitchen appliances to home electronics, to call it 5-star hotel quality is an understatement, because it is hard to imagine it is a vacation property rather than someone’s main residence. We loved the whole experience!
