Our spacious home in the Berkeley hills is luxurious, comfortable, full of light and a pleasure to live in for up to five people. It's cozy in the winter and cool and pleasant in the summer. The rental includes weekly housekeeping and possible use of a luxury sedan.
The beautiful living room has two comfortable sofas to curl up in while watching the hawks floating on air currents over the canyon across the road, as well as cozy armchairs, well-chosen art, and a wood-burning fireplace.
The canyon view is also what you see from the large comfortable dining room that seats eight around a custom round dining table, in cushy upholstered chairs that you won't want to leave after dinner.
The large eat-in kitchen seats six who can keep the cook company while he or she uses the high quality cooking tools and appliances to cook fresh food from the nearby Monterey Market, famous Monterey Fish Company and others of Berkeley's astounding array of provisioners. The kitchen's French doors open to a private deck with table and chairs for dining surrounded by climbing roses. Take a book out here and relax in the antique steamer chair while looking at the garden and terrace below.
Enjoy the enormous master bedroom/sitting room with its king-size bed furnished with high thread count linens, the sofa in front of the wood-burning fireplace, the antique armoire and the three sets of French doors opening the entire room to the garden terrace.
There's plenty of room in the walk-in closet and drawers for all your own things; no trying to work around the owners possessions. There's also a TV if you like to watch TV in bed.
The sybaritic master bath has a 2-person tub, a large walk-in shower and its own completely private deck. You can luxuriate in the tub with candles lit while allowing the fresh breeze in from the deck.
The second bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed, a settee, and plenty of storage. It has a view of treetops and a glimpse of the lights of San Francisco in the distance. It has a full bath adjacent.
The pretty and cozy book-filled library/TV room (which can be fitted for use as a 3rd bedroom) has a music system and a flat-screen TV with cable. Cable is included in the rental cost.
For working at home, there's a large office with 2 desks, a file cabinet, 2 printers and a fax, and of course there's wi-fi throughout the house. Internet and wi-fi is included in the rental cost.
A laundry room with washer/dryer is inside the house. The house has a monitored security system. We supply you with excellent quality linens, kitchen ware, tableware.
Our housekeeper comes to clean weekly at no extra charge. The use of a luxury sedan is negotiable.
Our street is very quiet, with little traffic, but is conveniently located for all your needs.
We are within easy distance of UC Berkeley: you may walk or bike or take the direct bus which stops one block from the house.
a direct bus to San Francisco stops one block away as well. BART rapid transit station is also close by.
Nearby Tilden Park has a lake, hiking, children's zoo, riding. San Francisco and Marin County are just 20 minutes away. The Napa and Sonoma Valleys are less than an hour away and offer wine-tasting, shopping, gourmet eating.
San Francisco Bay offers sailing, windsurfing, fishing, and the gorgeous coastal beaches are only a short drive away. Lake Tahoe, with sailing in the summer and snow sports in the winter, is only a few hours drive.
Berkeley's excellent food shopping is nearby, also many good restaurants, movie theaters, libraries, museums.

We are a couple who have lived in this house for most of our married life and love to travel, collecting art and furniture as we go. In a previous career I was an interior designer and the house was my favorite project. Now that we're retired we are spending some time traveling and have decided to make the house available to others who would enjoy it as we do.

Wonderfully decorated house. Everything in good shape. Friendly and helfpul landlord and landlady. Quiet and lovely neighborhood. I recommend the house without any hesitation.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, age 55+.
