Enjoy the year-round activities the Brainerd Lakes Area has to offer. Grey Gables is conveniently located just 1/2 mile from the Paul Bunyon Trail. This paved state trail is great for biking, walking, running, rollerblading, snowmobiling, X-country skiing, and viewing wild life.
As you enter the driveway to Grey Gables you will be greeted by the majestic White and Norway Pine trees that abundantly dress the property. The natural blue stone paths take you past the garden and Gazebo to the main entrance. As you enter this charming 1904- built home you will be awed by the natural field-stone fireplace in the knotty pine paneled living room; each stone was collected by the original owner on family vacations throughout the United States at the turn of the 20th Century. The living room, the heart of the home, also boasts of a natural red pine floor and stained glass windows that create a warm and a nostalgic feel.
The original wrap-around porch now incorporates the front family room with breathtaking views of Clark Lake, the main entry and the intimate dining room. The large, fully equipped kitchen has everything you will need for dining in if you choose, including a deck off the kitchen for the gourmet gas grill. If you don't feel like cooking, there are also a number of excellence local restaurants from which to choose.
Completing the main level you will find the full bath, full laundry, and a secluded bedroom (full size bed) with it's own private lakeside deck. The upper level is composed of one private bedroom (one queen) and an old fashioned sleeping porch that has been divided, to provide two more lakeside bedrooms (one queen and 3 twin). It is a great place to fall asleep listening to the call of the loon. There are a total of three bedrooms up. There is also a 1/2 bath upstairs.
On the grounds of the property there is a fire pit and picnic table. Adirondack chairs are a great place to sip morning coffee while watching the Bald Eagles fish for their breakfast.
Out the front door are meandering steps edged in stone that lead to the lake and a dock where you will find great water for all of your recreational needs. There is plenty of room to dock your own boat and toys. Clark Lake has a public access for easy launching.
