The views from the Casita are even more incredible in person. Mi Compania Dulce is the most relaxing place I've ever been; my girlfriend and I sat in the adirondack chairs overlooking the lake for hours. We took a nice 15 minute hike down to the waterfront. Ghee is very friendly and welcoming and the syrah from her Villa Vallecito Vineyards is outstanding. We are already looking at dates for our return visit.

Our stay at the casita was unbelievable from start to finish. The setting is truly spectacular, we found ourselves not even wanting to leave the grounds. If you are looking for a place to relax and commune with nature, this is it. While at the same time you have all the modern amenities needed to be very comfortable. The private wine tasting was outstanding and the hospitiality we received from the owner and her staff was way above to call of duty. We feel as if we have made some new friends for life. We are trying to figure out how we can stay an entire month!

We came for a birthday weekend and ending up having a second honeymoon! We drove to Yosemite, Big Trees Park, Murphys and Angle's Camp. The sites were breath taking and the food was fabulous but we always look forward to returning to La Casita. The view there was equally breath taking and the accomodations were 5 star! La Casita is an oasis and is as beautiful as the pictures on the listing if not more so. We will deifinitely be back and a girls weekend trip with my sisters is in the future for sure!

Fabulous stay at this beautiful peaceful property. It is a little bit of a hike up to the property so bring your food and drink. If you venture into Murphys, check out Grounds Restaurant (great wine list) and Fire Wood Grill (great burger).

My sweetie and I spent three days at the Cacita for my birthday and absolutely loved it. The pictures, as spectacular as they are, do not do the site or the lodgings justice. Even though we live nearby, we felt we were a world away. The owner was wonderfully helpful and personable, and arranged a private wine-tasting for us at the winery just down the lane. The winemaker himself toured us through the process and his amazing wines. Make sure you get a taste of Villa Vallecito's gorgeous flavors. Bottles are available for sale in a wine cooler in the casita. The property is beautiful, to say the least, and well-maintained. We had the place to ourselves and enjoyed the seclusion and breathtaking views. Everything was beyond lovely, but I want to note that the heater is much louder than we are used to. Not a big deal to most people probably. If you are staying at a cold time of year and are light sleepers, just be prepared with ear plugs. The full kitchen is small but first class, with everything you need except food. The charming town of Murphys is a short drive away and lots of fun, but I'd recommend provisioning up front in case you find it hard to leave. We sure did! We'll definitely be back.

What a find. This is a place where part of the vacation experience is waking up early and soaking in the ever changing views as the sun and clouds roll over. Overall the place is well appointed for a nice dinner and relaxing background music. An ipod hook up would be nice. The land is so beautiful and pulled us in for a walk around the vineyards and a nice run on the local roads.

This was a "last minute" trip for us and Ghee, the owner, was so very accommodating especially since her vineyard was harvesting her grapes and she was very busy! The "casita" was well maintained and beautifully decorated. The views were amazing......Lake Melones on one side and the vineyard on the other!! We woke up to birds singing while they were bathing in the patio fountain (so cute)! We had a beautiful grey squirrel drinking from the fountain daily(even better) and we had a deer in the yard just outside the kitchen window.....what could be better!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be back. We stopped by the "main" house on the way home to say thank-you to Ghee and we got a private wine tasting and wonderful and interesting conversation outside by the pool. Great wine and we bought two bottles of the white!! No pressure to buy but it was just too good to pass up!!! Thanks again Ghee....your property is georgeous and the views are breathtaking!! Looking forward to coming back!!

Absolutley amazing location and gorgeious home. Great place for a relaxing and spending a quiet weekend. Great amenities and well appointed. Wake up to the sun rising over the vineyards, watch the sun set and then the moon shine on the lake . These great views coupled with warm breezes, great wine and cheeses, made our stay truly memorable.

Do you love spectacular vistas, the peaceful sounds of birds singing, and a night of starry skies? Then "Mi Compania Dulce" is the place for you. We arrived for a birthday weekend in early August and had a fantastic time. This cozy getaway offers awesome, panoramic views of lush vineyards and New Melones Lake - as accurately described. We found a new favorite wine in Villa Vallecito's 2008 Barbera...thanks to a private wine tasting hosted by the winemaker. Night time is especially wonderful with the light of the moon shimmering on the lake and the crickets chirping. We can't wait to return. Highly recommended!

You may be planning to stay at this 5 star appointed cottage and sightsee from there daily, but do yourself a favor and bring your favorite grazing foods and drink and when you get there, take off your shoes, open all the doors and windows and toss your cel phones, Ipods and car keys in the bottom of your suitcase ! The kitchen is set up to have everything you need to relax and enjoy. Even if you can only spend two nights here , you will come away refreshed and rejuvenated. Cool breezes come up from the lake side and warm breezes come off the vineyards and lavender on the other side. You will wake to the sound of a fountain and birds each morning. Stretch out on the chaise lounges on the lake side and watch the stars - even the Milky Way. Eat your meals under the grape arbor on the vineyard side and you'll feel as if you are in Italy. You will not want to leave but you will certainly return again. We did and we will again, I am sure. And we only live 15 miles and a world away !

We just spent 9 days touring the Sierra Nevada mountains from Sequoia NP, King's Canyon, Yosemite NP, Amador/Calaveras Counties and the Lake Tahoe region. We stayed in various lodgings along the way, but spent the greatest two nights in Mi Compania Dulce. The villa is absolutely beautiful and exquisitely located at the top of the hill. The photos barely do justice to the accommodations and setting. Additionally, we were treated to a private wine tasting by the assistant wine maker for Villa Vallecito Winery, which is the working vineyard located adjacent to the villa. If you are contemplating a visit to the Murphys, CA or Amador County areas, I would highly recommend this listing. There is easy access to the many Murphys wine tasting rooms and the villa is an easy one hour drive to the highly acclaimed Amador County wineries in and around Plymouth. The owner was most helpful before and during our stay and was available by phone if we had any questions or concerns.

What a place! We enjoyed every moment at this gorgeous property that was as comfortable inside as outside. We felt like we were in Tuscany and enjoyed reading our books on the patio while looking at the stunning lake views. We also watched the stars at night and were so relaxed and happy the whole time we stayed at Villa Vallecito. Not only that, but we were lucky enough to participate in the winery's first wine tasting -- delicious! We can't wait to go back!

From the time you drive along the country road through the vineyards you know this will be an amazing experience. You see the Villa sitting majestically atop a flowing hillside of vineyards. As you drive up the driveway you catch a glimpse of the lake teasing you with beauty. Once you pull up to the Villa and look around you, the beauty is simply breath taking. The Villa is furnished nicely and allows for the views to be seen from the french doors in all directions. The atmosphere is soothing and quite as you sit and take in the beauty. Very relaxing and soothing. Wine tasting is just a short drive away with some spectacular wines to be tasted and purchased. Ghee was amazingly pleasant and accommodating. This is a trip that you will definitely remember.

I scored big points with the wife when I brought her here for her birthday. She can be a fussy one but she loved Mi Compania Dulce. It's private, peaceful, and scenic in all directions. A great place to open a bottle of wine and chill and then repeat. The cottage is well appointed. The interior motif was a bit off from our style but that would be our only critique. Overall, a solid 5 stars.

One of the most beautifull and relaxing places we have ever stayed. It was so spectacular, that we called up my brother and sister-in-law to come join us! When we decided to enjoy Murphys for our anniversary again this year, we didn't think twice of where to stay, Mi Compania Dulce is our first choice.

Although the pictures on the website are fabulous, be prepared to have your expectations dwarfed by this incredible villa and unimaginable views. The villa is practically new with all of the high end features you can imagine. Surround sound, flat screen TV's, satellite TV, crown molding, etc. It is decorated with incredible detail. The privacy is so romantic and view is just breathtaking. We used the gas grill at the villa to cook steaks and enjoyed some local wine. Newsome-Harlowe is fabulous! The drive through the vineyards to the villa, the incredible stars at night and the birds flying in to the bird bath, watching the boats on the lake....we can't wait to return.

This villa is simply breath-taking! I would recommend to any of my friends and family. As soon as you wake up you can see the most beautiful lake and surrounding scenery. We happen to stay on a weekend when the weather could not have been more perfect, so we opened all the doors to just the screens and let the autumn breeze in. If you live in or near a city, you know that is normally quite hard to do. Not only was the villa just right, Ghee, the owner, was a delight to work with as well. We planned a last minute trip and she was more than willing to help us celebrate our anniversary. Enjoy your stay and don't forget to bring a camera or two!

Spectacular views doesn't begin to describe just how amazing this property is. The hawks circling by,the hummingbirds, the moonlight over the lake, complete silence its rejuvination at its best. The vineyards on property produce a fabulous Barbera available at Vina Moda in Murphys. Our hosts were gracious beyond compare we will be back soon.

As co-owner and Assistant Winemaker for Vina Moda Winery, I have to say that the Casita is just as wonderful as the fruit from Villa Vallecito Vineyards. My husband and I had the opportunity to witness a romantic, not to mention downright stunning, sunset view from the peaceful porch of the Casita. You must experience it for yourself to truly appreciate the relaxing energy of this place. 2 thumbs up for hospitality as well! Be sure to stop by Vina Moda Winery during your visit to Murphys.
