thought it was about time i wrote review for this property, so here goes. this was our second visit to portzvue in 2 years, the villa is beautiful, big, bright and very spacious.decorated very nicely and has everything you could need for a perfect holiday. outside there is a great pool and jacuzzi for chilling in with a crate of banks beer. Also the wildlife in the garden is fantastic from whistling frogs to the local troop of monkeys that pass along back wall of garden ocassionally. The staff are lovely people whom we found very helpful and polite, sonia who looks after portzvue is a star, nothing was to much trouble from taking us to supermarket on arrival to cooking an arrival meal for us last year when we returned to get married. the neighbours are very friendly so dont be afraid to speak to them,Dale who lives directly across from portzvue is a character whom we shared many a drink and laugh..if you need to know anything ask him, and if he offers to take you out on a bar crawl. go!! unforgettable night out.. the area where portvue is located is very nice and quiet also no worries regarding safety at all. i would recommend eating at the fish pot restaurant for lunch.. 5 mins away, or mango's by the sea in speightstown. 5 mins away.(got married here in 2011) some of the best food i have ever had, and the location is breathtaking. i have been to barbados 4 times now, twice in hotel and twice in portzve, and cant recommend the place enough to people,so much so were a returning to the island in may 2012 and yes we are returning to portzvue.(big thanks to chris & his wife). so if your reading reviews and wondering hmmm good review ,bad review what do i do? don't think about it just book it, you certainly wont be disappointed. ps i've just read last review regarding alarm problem and bed size. we had alarm go off a couple of times, but we just put in code and it stopped,no problems. as for bed size, surely if your on honeymoon you want your new wife to be as close to you as possible, and not at the other side of a monster sized bed !!! lol.....

Portzvue November, 2011

We stayed at Portzvue this November for 15 nights for our Honeymoon and overall the experience was good, however there were a few issues. Positives: Ali met us on our arrival, which was great considering we did not get to the villa until around 11pm; he was very helpful and accommodating. He was happy to help us out with advice to get us going on our holiday and came by to check on us a couple times during the trip. He was also very helpful in resolving some of the issues we had our first couple of days. The villa is located as described in the ad, a short walk or drive to both Heywoods beach and Speightstown. Speightstown has a Jordans grocery store where you can pick up pretty much anything you'll need for your stay. As well with the villa being located on the west side of the island, it is not as windy and the sea is much calmer. The backyard pool/jacuzzi are great and we spent a lot of time there. The kitchen has everything you need to cook for yourselves during your trip, and there's also a bbq in the back yard. Negatives: It is advertised that there is a King bed, however there is not. The master bedroom has a Queen bed and the other two bedrooms have two single beds each. Though the overall stay was positive despite this, the lack of a King bed was very disappointing for us and would have disqualified Portzvue from our possible selections. Some construction work is happening somewhat close to the villa (not close enough that you can really hear anything though, don't worry) and we experienced a couple of power outages due to the construction. The power outage would have been fine, but an extremely loud and shrill alarm was going off because of it, and we had no way of turning it off. The only phone is cordless, so it does not work when the power is out either. The power came back on after about 30 mins, but even then we were unable to call out as there was a billing problem (which was sorted out by Ali over the next couple days) with the phone company. The alarm system also needed a code to be put in after the power came back on, but there was no info in the book provided about the alarm or the code. Ali got this fixed as well and helped us disconnect the loud alarm/siren in case of any further power outages. Some of the lounge chairs in the back are broken, which was not an issue for the two of us, but if you had more people some would have to use the broken loungers. A few house repairs are also needed (broken shutters, etc.)

ALL YOU CAN WANT AND MORE

This house had everything I could possibly need, a pool to swim in, a jacuzzi to relax in, living accomadation that is first class, a tv for the occasional rainy spell (with cable) and a Wii, views towards the caribbean sea. A simple stroll to speightstown for any shopping, and of course buses 5 minutes walk away should you want to go further. For lunch or evening I recommend "Lonestar" for something that little bit different, but beside golden sands, excellent staff and great food - my favourite is the shrimp and lobster salad, another great place near by is "The Fishpot" always excellent food and service. All in all this out of 50 visits to Barbados was one of the best, I was totally relaxed in this lovely villa, and felt 100% safe even being alone. I have already booked for next year - that alone should tell you just how great this villa is - you also have a lovely house manager Sonia, and Charmaine such a sweet maid. In all honesty I cannot rate this trip high enough, thanks to Chris and his beautiful house, I look foward to many visits in the future

property is nice, very, clean, close to beaches, bus station, supermarket. Description is very accurate. Recommended to anyone who wants to have a good time, away from everything in barbados.
