Location: Royal Kuhio, Waikiki, South Oahu, Oahu, Hawaii, USA (7 miles from HNL Airport - Condo is on the public Bus Line)

Accommodations:  Condominium, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)

Gary’s Place is not a hotel and not on the beach, no surprises here. I can, however, help maximize your vacation budget and give you a choice.

LOCATION: Located at the intersection of Kuhio and Royal Hawaiian Avenues. This places you at the hub of Waikiki. The beach is a short walk, bus service in front of the building, several convenience stores within ½ block, tourist shopping within 1 block, super market short blocks, International Market Place is 3 short blocks. Walk, ride, or drive you are in the right place.

THE BUILDING: The Royal Kuhio is 38 stories tall and has a number of preferred amenities. Entering the beautiful lobby you will notice the security station and 'keyed' access doors to the elevator lobbies. The 7th floor boasts a number of options. You can simply sun bathe, or avail yourself of the pool, exercise room, saunas, or putting green.

To keep the kids occupied the 7th floor also offers ping pong, billards, paddle tennis, and ½ court basketball. Both charcoal and gas BBQ’s are available. A large covered carpeted open air lanai is available for your enjoyment. Just in case you need to wash a few clothes the 7th floor coin operated laundry has more than 20 washing and drying machines. In building parking is available for a daily fee with unlimited 'in/out'.

THE CONDO: Gary’s place is privately owned and non smoking. It is located on the 30th floor of the building facing the quiet and serene Ala Wai, golf course, and the mountains. The condo is designed to offer the client a wide range of choices. For example, the full kitchen permits you the choice of full meal preparation, light meals, snacks, or just cold drinks.

Temperature comfort: open the lanai door and feel the breeze, or turn on the ceiling fan, or for those that like it simply cold close the door and “crank up” the A/C.

BATHING OPTIONS: The combination tub shower allows you to choose either a soothing “soak” in the tub or a refreshing shower ranging from very cool to steaming hot.

ENTERTAINMENT: A 27” flat screen remote control cable T.V A combination radio/CD player, A combination VHS/DVD player. Or perhaps just the quiet and a good book. Also, for the home video folks the T.V. is capable of viewing your camcorder via cables or “S” plug-in.

SLEEPING OPTIONS: The condo is equipped with a king size bed and a queen sleeper couch.

COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT : FREE high speed internet. WIFI, or ethernet direct plug-in. FREE unlimited local calls. The phone is direct dial long distance and international call capable with credit or phone cards.

THE KITCHEN: Just in case 'eating-in' is your preferred option the kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pots and pans, casserole baking dishes, blender, waffle maker, rice cooker, crock pot, toaster and coffee maker. The fridge is a full sized 18 cubic feet, 4 burner stove with oven and broiler, microwave, and of course a dishwasher.

LINENES: Bath and bedding linens provided.

ANALYSIS: Gary’s place is centrally located; offers many choices, provides vacation value; the building has excellent facilities, is well maintained, and offers 24/7 security.

I hope to hear from you soon concerning a reservation, but if you find another better suited value for your vacation I wish you a wonderful time in Hawaii, a place that I fell in love with many years ago.

  • We had a previous disastrous experience with VRBO but Gary has reinstilled our confidence with VRBO. Gary was very professional and courteous beyond expectation. The condo is very clean with extra's on the lanai for the guests to use. I would highly recommend Gary's condo to whomever is visiting Waikiki.

  • Aloha...What wonderful, relaxing and totally comfortable times we have had at Gary's Place. The first time we stayed , we had three great weeks; the 2nd time (two years later) we enjoyed Gary's Place for an incredible six weeks. Rene and I just love and appreciate the cleanliness, the elegant setting, the breath-taking mountain view, the relative quiet at being 30 floors up, and the accomodating, friendly nature of Gary himself. What a pleasant and kind man! The location of the Royal Kuhio is outstandingly too!! CLOSE to the BEACHES, SHOPPING,and thebus routes.(As we always buy bus passes ...so much easier and economical), Speaking of money...Gary's place doesn't charge you an arm and leg like most other places either. He's VERY fair!! Rene and I have already booked for next year, I love this island and like to call Gary's Place ...MY PLACE because that's the way it feels. Thank you Gary for everything, and I hope anyone who reads this will feel totally confident that choosing Gary's Place will be the best and wisest decision they've ever made.   • My kids and I have stayed at many different vacation rentals in Waikiki (we come every summer for at least two weeks). We stayed at Gary's place for three weeks this year and found this to be the best in terms of both value and comfort. The place was spotlessly clean, well-equipped, quiet, secure, and had in-building parking. We had a wonderful time here and plan to return next year.

The views were fabulous and the beach was just a few minutes away. The condo was clean, modern and well stocked. I would 100% recommend this place for anyone thinking about going to Honolulu.   • This is our 5th time we have stayed at the Royal Kuhio. It is central to Waikiki beaches, buses, and shopping. Loved the condo on 30 floor. Well cooled by trade winds. Condo is very modern, new everything, my wife Judy was very impressed. TV, DVD and cordless computer capabilities. Stayed there 2 weeks and it was one of the best condo's in the Royal Kuhio. When coming back, we will be staying at Gary's Place. THANKS. Rene & Judy

  • Myself and 2 of my friends stayed here for 8 nights. We had such a great time. This condo was son convenient to all that Waikiki has to offer. The bus stops right in front of the building. I recommend this place to everyone considering a trip to Oahu. Thank you so much for making our stay so comfortable and so much fun!

He did so much to make our stay exceptional. We were unsure about renting from an individual, but Gary made it easy, treating us as honored guests by attending to so many details that went way beyond what is expected from a vacation rental, for example, a daily newspaper delivery. This place is so much more than is promised in the listing. Everything was immaculately scoured--He even came ahead and checked the room himself before we arrived. The furnishings are in excellent condition, containing abundant dishware, kitchen appliances, and cleaning supplies. Gary could not have made our check-in and our stay any better if we had been his best childhood friends! I can not speak highly enough of this rental and of Gary's efficiency and graciousness.
