This charming cottage has an incredible view with a large deck sitting on the dunes, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. No long walkway to the beach...just step into the sand from the deck. Soak in the beauty of God's creation as you breath in the sights and sounds of the waves.
Let the beautiful sunrise envelope you as you sip your morning coffee. In the evenings, after a stroll along the beach, spread a blanket and watch the stars as the waves splash beside you. It is rejuvenating for your body and soul!
This is a special retreat. We call it our Island Oasis. We have enjoyed many vacations here and hope that you will find it as inviting as we have.
We have found that no matter where we travel, we long for our island oasis. For all the years we have spent here, we continue to discover new and exciting things to do.
From horse drawn carriage rides along the cobblestone streets of downtown Fernandina to segway excursions through the national parks to daytrips to Jacksonville's Zoo or Cumberland Island, there are many activities to keep you busy. We just seem to find that we prefer to head back to the Little Cottage in the Dunes.

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage so much. It is clean, cheerfully decorated and open and airy. We had everything we needed. The owner is very pleasant to deal with. There is an expansive view of the ocean. We would definitely stay here again. And of course Fernandina is a great place to vacation. It's very laid back with many things to do, anyone who goes there must go down Centre Street and enjoy the atmosphere, the shops and the food, and visit Fort Clinch.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

We had a great time on Amelia Island and especially enjoyed the beach cottage. The setting is fantastic and the accommodations are perfect in every way. The kitchen is great, the living room with the large glass doors all across provides a great way to enjoy the ocean view, and stepping off the spacious deck brings you right to the sand and water. We couldn't ask for more in a vacation spot. Our stay was so relaxing and full of fun things to do that we are looking forward to our next visit.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

My sister and I rented the cottage for a well deserved getaway. It exceeded our expectations and was a spectacular setting for relaxing and rejuvenating. The views were amazing and we had everything we needed in the well stocked kitchen. We didn't leave the property for even one minute of our four days! Plans are already underway to return next year! Thanks so much....Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Just returned last week from spending 4 nights at this beautiful cottage...the views are much grander in person, thanks to the expansive windows across the beach front of the house. If you are into "cookie cutter condos", with the tacky beach decorations, this is not the place for you. This place reminds me of Old Florida, Key West, full of quaint cottage feeling decorations, and brightly colored art. It is a wonderful place to escape, to think, meditate, clear your mind, return to what is really important in life. It is well stocked, never lacked a thing, and the owners are wonderful, patient, helpful and accomodating. I highly recommend it, for a solitary trip to nap and relax, or a girlfriends getaway. Or a romantic weekend escape.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family of four stayed here from April 4th to the 9th. We had a wonderful time. The cottage is outstanding as is the location. When I booked it I was sure it couldn't be a great as it looked and I couldn't have been more wrong. The cottage was so clean and well stocked. You are steps from the beach and the area of Amelia Island has everything you could need. The beach outside your door is awesome and so quite. Leave the sliding glass doors open and bring the outside in. If you rent this cottage you will not be disappointed.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

I Have a dilemma....should I keep this "little cottage in the dunes" OUR SECRET...or should I tell other foursomes out there who are looking what an IDEAL get-away it is?? If you want to listen to the surf, look up at the stars, walk on a pristine and uncrowded beach, watch the sun RISE. or SET from your deck (which is just FOUR steps onto the SAND)..... cook a "low country boil supper" in a well equipped kitchen..... then THIS IS SHORELY IT!! Trust me.... A REAL SOUTHERN GAL.....It just doesn't get any better!!!!! Book it and ENJOY!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

My husband and I stayed here for a get-away weekend, and vowed to book it plus the unit behind it for our annual family beach week.. My husband's father grew up on Fernandina, and this cottage made us feel like we were locals, not tourists! The furnishings and decor are so comfortable and cheery. The beach is right off the porch, and we really enjoyed just keeping the glass doors open while we made dinner, had coffee, and listened to the sound of the waves. The owners were so helpful and attentive. I have told everyone I know about this place. I am already looking forward to our next visit!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

I spent my last week of summer vacation at The Cottage in the Dunes. It was a perfect way to relax before jumping back in to the hectic pace of the school year. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and very homey. The location was PERFECT...right on the beach and very private. The owner was extremely helpful and attentive, and her hospitality made the stay all the better! I hope to make a trip to The Cottage annually. You will love it!Did you find this review helpful? Why Other Fernandina Beach Properties:
We have vacationed on Amelia Island since I was a child. After I had children, we continued to visit Amelia Island. At some point we decided to visit other beaches. My children begged to go back to Amelia Island! We have always enjoyed searching for sharks' teeth, collecting seashells, biking downtown for ice-cream, feeding the birds.....Amelia Island is the place we long to be!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Our cottage has so much charm and character! It was built years ago, before the building setbacks were put in place. The location of our cottage is grandfathered in, of course and it is right on the sand! You just can't get any closer to the water! I think Amelia Island is special because it is not too commercialized. When you drive onto the island, you immediately feel the slower pace, the relaxed feel of the island! The main beach street has some new construction, but it also has a nice mix of old beach cottages that have been in families for years! It really adds a lot of character to the island. If you visit the downtown, you do feel as though you have stepped back in time. Families are strolling along the sidewalks, peeking into charming shops, locally owned bookstores, and coffee shops. You can't leave downtown without a taste of ice-cream or homemade fudge from the Fantastic Fudge Shop!
