DESCRIPTION:
With natural sunlight cascading into each room thanks to its south-facing windows, your air-conditioned 4th floor Parisian pied-a-terre, accessible by stairs or by elevator, exudes warmth and airiness.
The living and dining room, showcasing original and unusual Empire ceiling moldings as well as point-de-hongrie hardwood floors, is the perfect room in which to unwind after a busy day spent sightseeing the marvels of Paris: Dock your iPod in the Bose SoundDock Digital Music System, pour yourself a glass of wine, and experience Paris living the way well-heeled Parisians do.
The large bedroom, featuring original and intricately carved ceiling moldings as well as plush carpeting and a king-size bed, is a haven designed for relaxation and rejuvenation after a night on the town. Its muted colors, soft fabrics, and hushed lighting make it the perfect after dark Parisian sanctuary.
The kitchen, with granite countertops, glazed cabinets, and a full complement of top-of-the-line stainless steel Miele appliances, manages to be both efficient and elegant. The adjoining powder room is ideally situated, allowing easy access to you and your cocktail guests.

NEIGHBORHOOD:
Located in the heart of the 8th arrondissement, your apartment is a stroll away from the right bank’s most famous historical places and monuments: les Champs-Elysees, la place de la Concorde, la place de la Madeleine, l’Opera, la place Vendome, les Tuileries gardens, le Louvre museum, le Palais Royal, le Petit Palais and le Grand Palais. Le Parc Monceau, surrounded by 19th century Hotels Particuliers and one of Paris' most elegant parks, is only a few short blocks away.
For shopping, the high fashion shops of la rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore are just mere minutes away, as are les Grands Magasins, Paris’ quintessential department stores. At the Marche Treilhard, a couple of blocks away, a cornucopia of French delicacies await: here you can purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, cheese from the cheese shop, pastries from the patisserie, fish from the fishmonger, and meat from the butcher. For everyday items, the Monoprix supermarket is also but a couple of blocks away.
For a true French market experience, head to the Levis market on the rue de Levis, a 10 minute walk from the apartment. The Levis market is open daily, weekends included. Go there in the mornings for a deeper selection of typical French foods and beverages. We highly recommend you walk the Levis market at least once during your stay, as it is a feast for the eyes.
If you want food to match your new Armani outfit, take a walk to la Madeleine and browse the shelves of Fauchon or Hediard, Paris’ top luxury food emporiums. If sweets are what you crave, try Laduree on the rue Royale, maker of Paris’ finest macaroons.
For explorations further a field, the Miromesnil and Saint-Augustin Metro Stations are just a few steps away (2-4 minutes), as are direct bus routes to all parts of the city.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 weeks this spring. It was a wonderful experience. We are not the typical tourists in that we usually only spend about half our time sightseeing. The rest of the time we try to interact with locals in non-touristy neighborhoods. We found this to be a great place to achieve our goals. First, the place is not in the boonies. It is centrally located with both the Arc de Triomphe and Louvre less than a 30 minute stroll from the apartment. If you are not ready for European walking there are two Metro stations each less than a 5 minutes away. Sightseeing is easy. Using the Metro, every major site was reachable in less than 20 minutes. Versailles can be reached directly from the nearby St. Lazare Train Station. ATM’s, super markets, and numerous bakeries were also all within a 5 minute walk. Many, many restaurants, cafés, lunch shops of all types and qualities were within several blocks. The apartment, itself, is bright, clean and spacious. Being on the 4th floor, it is very quiet. The kitchen is small, but well equipped and very functional. We found it to be capable of preparing several pretty impressive dinners. The bed was very comfortable. By European standards, the bath/vanity was huge. One peculiarity is that the toilet is off the kitchen. Not really a problem but it took us a little while to remember to head to the right room. An extensive street market was a 15 minute walk from the apartment. It had a wonderful assortment of fresh fish, meats, cheeses, fruits, vegetables, breads and pastries and was open Tuesday thru Saturday. The wares were so appetizing that we opted to stay in several more nights than originally intended. Most people have heard stories about the French and Parisians, in particular. Our French speaking capability is somewhere between poor and non-existent. We never had a bad experience and actually found people went out of their way to interact with us whenever we got out of the touristy areas. We were also in London and Amsterdam this trip and agree that our fondest people experiences were in Paris. I think we picked the right Parisian neighborhood.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Steve for your kind review. We are thrilled you thoroughly enjoyed your stay in our beautiful Parisian apartment and look forward to welcoming you again when your travels bring you back to Paris.

We stayed in this lovely apartment for six nights in April 2013. Joel, the owner, was extremely responsive throughout the entire booking, arrival, etc. process. He provided us with a lot of good recommendations for restaurants, shopping, etc. The apartment is just as pictured, close to a metro stop and many great restaurants, food shops, etc. We would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+.

I'm so sorry for such a belated review...but I have never forgotten about this beautiful apartment. My husband and I stayed here in December 10-22, 2010 (ignore date listed) for a belated honeymoon (okay, so I'm late with everything) for twelve days and we enjoyed every minute of it. Wonderful, efficient and pleasant communication from Joel throughout our stay. My husband put one of the dishes in the microwave and it cracked...so if you see a plate that doesn't match; sorry...it's our fault. However, Joel was very gracious about it and just asked us to replace it with a matching white one. Additionally, my husband travels w/his own foam pillow w/case and Louisette (the sweet housekeeper) mistakenly had it laundered for us. It was returned to us freshly laundered and pressed (if only I could get all my laundry this way)! I HIGHLY recommend this beautiful apartment...forget the hotel rooms and live like a Parisian. Close to everything and yet quiet. The apt is spacious and exactly as pictured and beautifully decorated by Valerie. Constant communication from Joel were invaluable; which put me at ease since this was our first time with a vacation rental. We visited during the coldest winter that hit Europe and the apt was very warm and toasty. Wifi/internet connection was also very strong; great water pressure; and the bed and linens very comfortable. Btw, we love the bakery near Mironmesnil station (we got croissants there every morning and the creme caramel is to die for)! Joel and Valerie are wonderful hosts; thank you so much for a memorable stay! I yearn to return again one day...Owner response: Thank you Ally C. for your kind review. One of the main reasons that I liked this property is that it was the closest that I could find to US standards of living. The apartment is on a quiet street, has a comfortable king bed (not a queen or double which is in most apartments and hotels in Paris), an elevator, Persian markets are down the street as well as around the corner (bread, meats, small supermarkets, wine store, etc). They even have a church at the main corner in which we went to on Christmas Day (Catholic mass in French). I also like that fact that the apartment looks over the street and not a courtyard. We really had a nice time. The Metro system there is close by and very easy to get around. We only used a taxi once and we stayed there for 7 nights. I would stay here again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

You might say I am the ultimate Francophile or better yet have a special affinity for Paris as I travel there several times year. Forever I have stayed in hotels. But this timeI wanted to try apartment living. After staying in Joel and Valerie's apt I don't think I could I could back to hotels. The apt is just fabulous in every way. Beautifully appointed without being fussy. Cozy and warm - as I had friends come over who were completely wowed. Incredibly well located as I walked almost everywhere. All the conveniences - markets, wine shops , pharmacies etc. right in the neighborhood. Joel is amazing. Responding immediately to any question I had. His instructions were clear and more than thorough. I felt so at home and only wish that it were my own.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Pictures do not capture the Parisienne ambience of this splendid, spacious apartment. The decor is out of the pages of a "Beautiful Home" magazine, with a soft, muted colour theme that is both pleasing and relaxing to the eye. We marvelled at the design of the kitchen, the upper end appliances and the efficiency of this small space. There is ample seating space in the apartment and I felt compelled to sit in each chair just to view the apartment from a different perspective. The bedroom is luxurious and the bed very comfortable. Walking distance to Galleries Lafayette, Au Printemps and many other shops and boutiques in the area. Metro stop a five minute walk. Dominique Bouchet Restaurant a must. Your apartment has spoiled us for wanting to stay anywhere else and we will be recommending it to everyone we know who is travelling to Paris.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

The apartment is very clean and spacious with lovely decor. We also appreciated how quiet it was. The location, a block from the Boulevrd Haussmann, makes for an easy walk to the Parc Monceau, Opera and major department stores. The owners were very easy to deal with and provided a lot of helpful information.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers.

About the owner: My wife and I spend about 4 weeks a year in our Paris apartment, and consider it our home away from home. It is a true gem which we hope you will enjoy as much as we do!
Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 8:
My wife being from Paris and my in-laws living there, we decided to purchase this property to be able to visit with them as often as possible. We settled on this arrondissement because of its rich history, easy walking distance to all of the right bank's major monuments, its residential feel and convenient access to the city's subway, bus lines and CDG airport. An added attraction is that Valerie's family live around the corner from us.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
We chose to purchase this particular apartment for multiple reasons: the high ceilings, the original parquet floors, plaster moldings, fireplace and mirrors, the view from its unique bay window, the building's enhanced security thanks to its own caretaker or what Parisians call a 'gardienne', and close proximity to public transportation and taxi stands.
An added benefit are the Presidential Palace and Interior Ministry buildings around the corner ensuring police patrol our neighborhood streets 24 hours a day on their mission to protect France's most important politicians. This can be very reassuring when walking back from one of our wonderful local restaurants at 1:00 am! (and helpful when in need of directions)
