Why the Owner Chose Oak Bluffs

My husband and I visited Martha's Vineyard in the spring of 1994 and fell in love with the island and the town of Oak Bluffs. We found the Pennacook House for sale, bought it and spent the next year completely renovating it. We love the island in winter, too!

The Unique Benefits at this House

All year we look forward to our vacation at The Pennacook House. We love walking to the beach, playing tennis and cooking up feasts with the wonderful produce purchased at the local farmer's markets. We spend two weeks each spring doing repairs and working to make the house perfect for our guests. We appreciate constructive feed back so we can continue improve the house every year.

Owner's Map of Oak Bluffs

The Pennacook House is a wonderful place for family gatherings, play and relaxation, with island activities for all ages right near by.

Here I am collecting shells at the beach with my twins.

Christmas at Martha's Vineyard

Guest: Brenda L.
Date of Stay: 12/23/11 Review Submitted: 01/04/12

Christmas at the Pennacook House on Martha's Vineyard could not have been more perfect. Our family enjoyed the large historic home and the proximity to area shopping and attractions. The house and location exceeded our expectations. We were able to walk to most shops, restaurants and the beach. The house was very clean and well maintained and the owners were a delight to work with. The only thing my family and I didn't like was having to come home so soon! We definitely recommend this property when considering a stay at Martha's Vineyard. Brenda L. The Woodlands, TX

Owner response:We are so glad you loved our home and discovered what a delight the Island of Martha's Vineyard is during the holidays. The Pennacook House is a special place at every time of year and we love to share it in all the seasons. Sincerely, Rebecca and Ron

New England Memory

I almost don't want to write this review... After soooo many disappointing rentals throughout MA as well as MV, I selfishly want to keep this property a secret... But after much consideration, and the reminder that someone told me about this property; I feel compelled to share... What a great property / New England home. My family enjoyed every aspect of the accommodation and location. I am final a hero! So here goes: 1) No need to bring a car! You are walking distance to everything ie the village and the beach... The ability to not have to pack the car to go to the beach by itself is reason to rent this property. We loaded the red wagon which was there waiting for us (the owners seemed to think of everything) and just strolled a couple of blocks though these amazing cottages and there you are! 2) The price was reasonable. I felt I did not have to make a choice between the beach, the village, or my children's college fund to go on a great vacation with my family... The restaurants were wonderful and reasonably priced but we also took advantage of the great kitchen and huge dining room. 3) The home and location is everything New England, and even came with that cool New England Breeze at night through all the windows - that I will never forget. We took many bike rides (the weather was incredible) and took advantage of the local stores to package-up a couple of picnics. 4) We chose a great time of the year. We went at the end of June and yes we were concerned about the weather possibly being cool... But we were pleasantly surprised that the weather was perfect and found out from the locals that it is warm early and stays that way through the summer. An interesting note was that we found out this home is pretty popular with the locals and many have even had their families stay there for reunions. So I would not be hesitant in booking at anytime - but I have to admit June was beautiful...

What a spot!

This house is amazing! We stayed for four days in late June and it was the highlight of the summer! The location is perfect... close to town, beach, quiet walking trails, and the playground! The house is comfortable, spacious and breezy. The kids (and the grownups!) loved the yard with the hammock, and particularly the outdoor shower! We will certainly go back next summer!

Luv it

My family and I love everything about P House. It is in the perfect location just steps away from Circuit Avenue and the beach. The rooms are large and not "on top of each other" so that everyone has their own space. The kitchen is perfect for cooking and family meals. We highly recommend P House (just not our usual weeks-LOL)

Fabulous, friendly house

Guest: Sue-sue (Ipswich, MA)
Date of Stay: 06/19/10 Review Submitted: 08/19/10

What fun we had staying in this house this summer! Even on the hottest days the breezes kept the bedrooms a comfortable temperature and jumping in to the outdoor shower was bliss. Walking three blocks to the Oak Bluffs shopping area or strolling with our red wagon to the beach meant that everyone was always busy and happy. The younger children enjoyed playing at the nearby playground while the adults played tennis on the public courts which are in the same park. The house was comfortable, clean, well maintained and easy to live in. It was difficult to choose between eating my meals in the sunny kitchen, the lovely dining room or outside at the picnic table. In the morning I enjoyed sipping my coffee while sitting on the front porch - don't know when I've felt more relaxed.
