This 3/2 home on the water is perfect for couples or families desiring a sub-tropical get-away any time of year. Yet, nearby are numerous activities and services available when you are ready to explore.
Nettles Island is a 24-hour security gated neighborhood development in the saltwater Indian River Lagoon between the Ft. Pierce inlet to the north and the St. Lucie inlet to the south. The private and unspoiled beach and Beach Club is 2 blocks away which includes a large heated pool, restrooms, showers and a snack bar. Golf cart rentals are available in the community.
You can walk or jog for miles and miles along the gently sloping wide beach seeing very few people or bring a flashlight to the beach at night in the summer months and often observe the giant sea turtles come ashore to dig a nest in the sand and lay their eggs.
In the commercial center you will find a marina, restaurant and best of all, The Village Grocer. There you will find groceries, baked goods, sandwiches, bait, rent fishing gear, rent movies, buy souvenirs or just have a nice chat with the locals.
At the other end of the development along the waterway, you will find the activity clubhouse (Rec Center) and lots to do: tennis, horseshoes, mini golf, shuffleboard, bocce ball, basketball, larger heated pool with 2 hot tubs and snack bar, workout room, pool & ping pong tables, arcade games, computers with internet and more.
Bright island colors and comfortable décor will welcome you as you enter the cottage. A wall of windows in the family room and kitchen provides a serene view of the waterway on the quiet East wall of Nettles Island. It is not uncommon to see dolphins in the morning, many varieties of birds, fish jumping out of the water and occasionally a manatee.
Walk a few steps out the back door to get a closer look at the boats slowly motoring by or cast a line and catch fresh fish for dinner. In the cooler months, open up the sliding door to enjoy the refreshing ocean breeze throughout the house.
The larger bedroom includes a comfortable queen bed, a small bathroom with a nice size shower, and a 19” flat screen TV. The second bedroom also has a queen bed.
The third bedroom has a sturdy wooden bunk bed: double mattress on the bottom and twin mattress on top. The kitchen is fully stocked and the adjoining family room has a larger flat screen TV and a DVD player. A stereo and CD player are also available.
Please be aware that the water is very close to the back door. It is recommended that all renters, especially children, be able to swim. Since we are close to the seawall, the cottage is up 4' feet; therefore, upon entering the front door there are 8 steps up to the living area.

- Pet Friendly : We allow well trained small/medium dogs with the following policy: $200 non-refundable pet deposit for carpet cleaning and fumigation. A copy of the immunization records is required showing breed and rabies information. Some breeds are not allowed by insurance carrier. Please request list from owner. $10 registration fee ($8 refundable upon check out). The pet policy is strictly enforced by the Property Owner's Assoc due to past experience and is put in place to protect all renters and residents.
- Kid Friendly : The lagoon is very close to the back door. In case of accidental falls off the seawall or dock, renters and guests should be able to swim to the ladder.

Why the Owner Chose Nettles Island
We live farther inland for the school system and employment opportunities. We purchased our Nettles Island home (originally a 1 1/2 hour drive) for fun family get-a-ways at the ocean. The Nettles Island amenities are perfect for both adults and children: beach club, pools, recreational facilities, security gate, general store, marina, great fishing,snack bars, restuarants etc. The neighborhood is set up for walking, bike riding and golf carts and is all enclosed by a 24 manned securtiy gate.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The beaches are wide, unspoiled and uncrowded. We enjoy swimming in the ocean and taking long walks on the beach different times of day or night. There is always something new to find or appreciate. In the evenings, sitting on our dock with the predominant breeze blowing in your face and listening and watching the fish jump, birds dive and the moon rise is a wonderful experience. Sometimes in the mornings, dolphins surface while swimming by and once in a while so does a manatee. Fishing brings in interesting sea creatures some edible, some not, but always something! Our children have fond memories of beaching, boating and fun times with family and friends in their 'Jensen Beach House'.

My husband and I have 3 daughters: college and high school ages. Although we grew up in the midwest, we have lived in south Florida since 1987 and love it. We enjoy having only 2 seasons: summer and spring and being able to enjoy the outdoors all year around. We have enjoyed 12 years of family fun in our Jensen Beach house and have always rented it out to others when we are not using it. We are avid travelers and use the VRBO website for our own lodging needs whenever possible.
