Very comfortable and cozy place to stay near Mission Beach. We had 4 adults and 1 4-year old; there was plenty of room. Beds were very comfortable and there was everything we needed in the kitchen. The patio was lovely for outdoor lounging. We really appreciated all the extras like bikes, boogie boards, beach chairs and an umbrella, and a wonderful cabinet full of preschool age book for the 4-year old. Our large truck did not fit in either available parking space, but we had no trouble finding parking a short walk away. The owners were very responsive to requests and a breeze to work with. No complaints; I highly recommend staying here.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our family enjoyed this house on our Spring Break. It was in an awesome location snuggled between the bay and the ocean (on the "bay" side of Mission Beach). The beach on the bay side was quiet and peaceful - very relaxing. The beach on the ocean was also very relaxing and fun, while presenting a lot of opportunities for activities - volleyball courts, basketball courts (on one end), playing in the waves, walking, running, watching the surfers - pretty much had it all. We loved the boardwalk and riding bikes around the entire area. The house was very clean and spacious, and the patio is outstanding. The kitchen was very well equipped, and there was a market close by (within walking distance) to get immediate supplies and a larger "chain" grocery within about a 10 minute drive. My teenagers loved the area with the nearby amusement park and the water, but probably rode the bikes on the boardwalk or walked the boardwalk the most. We also really enjoyed the taco stand, and the two Italian eatery's nearby. Dawn, the property owner, was really great to work with - communication was great and she was great in answering questions in advance, since this was our first trip to San Diego. The parking was a little tight for us midwesterners driving a large van (only because of the size of our vehicle), but once we got the hang of/adjusted to the space, that wasn't an issue. We did appreciate that we could park in a garage or the back covered patio - that was nice. In terms of location and activities - it was SOOOO convenient - my husband and son could get to many golf courses within a 15 minute drive. The Zoo and other attractions were a very short drive as well. Even our drive up to Torrey Pines and LaJolla to the Torrey Pines Gliderport (my daughter's favorite activity) took maybe 20 minutes. We didn't have any trouble getting to where we wanted to go in a very short time and the traffic was minimal. We would definitely rent here again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This is our 2nd time at Dawn's lovely home in Mission Beach, and that right there is the highest compliment we could pay, a return visit. This house has everything going for it. 1. The location: you are seconds from the Bayside beach and maybe a full minute to the oceanside. Super close to SeaWorld and great restaurants are all around! 2. Size & Amenities: this is a large home and our family of 5 fit comfortably. The house is stocked with everything you could possibly need, including books, bikes, and beach toys. Do NOT underestimate the value of on site laundry facilities!! 3. Ease: This place is easy. No muss, no fuss, Dawn makes coming back to this place like coming home. Sometimes taking your whole family away can be stressful. Dawn makes it very easy and quite comfortable. We love it here and we will be back. This is a *DETACHED single family home* which means you do not have neighbours below or above you. The place is entirely yours for however long you rent it. This is a HUGE selling point to us, as you never know who might be on the other side of the duplex. This is great value and has more than you can ask for. Book it and relax, it is just that easy!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Sometimes in life you just get lucky. This is how I felt when I was looking for a place to rent in Mission Beach and came across this cottage. I was immediately drawn to the outside terrace area that was spacious and had all the essentials; an eating area, a grill and a gas fire pit, that I absolutely loved! I contacted Dawn and the process of renting was easy breezy. We initially spoke on the phone but later just exchanged a few emails and phone texts. The contract was emailed, I signed it and mailed it back along with a deposit and the deal was done. Upon arrival to cottage, we received a phone text of instructions that were exactly spot on. There was a notebook left on the kitchen table with answers to any question we might have concerning the cottage. What a great idea that notebook is. There were no bad surprises because the photos show the cottage exactly how it is. As other reviewers have stated, the cottage was very clean and comfortable and had every convenience of home. The kitchen is very well stocked. The furniture and beds are comfortable. There is everything you need for the beach. My husband loved riding the bike and we so enjoyed our first kayak boating on the bay. The garage and washer and dryer are both huge added features. It is only 267 steps (Yes, I actually counted them) to the ocean, where I saw breathe taking sunsets. In the mornings, I walked to the ocean with my coffee and sat on the sea wall just enjoying the morning. Some mornings I just walked along the water’s edge with my camera. Sitting by the fire pit at night was a great way to end a day. We saw a couple of plays, got to visit Petco Park for fan appreciation day, and took day trips up and down the California coast. We even made it to Los Angles for a Clippers game. This is a wonderful cottage and a no hassle booking. A place to relax and get away with everything you need at the ready.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The beach house was clean, comfortable, and close to all the local attractions. Everything we needed was there from bicycles and boogie boards to beach towels and chairs. The gas firepit and grill were easy to use and the beds were very comfortable. I would recommend this property to anyone!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a lovely time at this cute little place on Mission Beach. It's very clean and organized. Just a short walk right down to the beach or bay. Our three boys (ages 10-14) had a great time in the ocean and playing in the sand. The house has everything you will need including sand toys, beach towels, boogie boards and some bikes (which we didn't use this time). There is a private outside shower which is perfect for washing off the sand before coming inside. Lots of games, movies, books and toys are provided as well which is nice for "down time" after a busy day at the beach or park. The little patio area with the fire pit and grill are perfect for dining outside while listening to the ocean. The home is located right down the beach from Belmont Park and is a short drive to Sea World and the zoo. The owner is very accommodating and organized. We had a wonderful fall break and would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed at the ouse for a week (13-20Oct 2012) with our two girls (2 and 3 years old). We had a great time in San Diego and the house was perfect for us. I was a little nervous about renting a house, this was the first time we used VRBO..but, now it will be the only way we go. It was so nice to have the outdoor shower and laundry machine outside the house so we could wash ourselves and our clothes after a day at the beach or being splashed by Shamu. And, it was nice that my husband and I could watch TV or sit outside in front of the fire pit after the girls went to bed instead of being trapped in a hotel room at 8pm when the girls went to bed. Everything was clean and it was easy to find everything we needed. We are already talking about a trip back there. Thanks Dawn!Recommended for: Families with young children.

Upon our arrival, we fl in love with our rental house. We were nestled between the Bay and Mission Beach. The area was clean, qiuet, as was the house. The firepit in the front courtyard really added to the charm. Our contact Dawn, made everything easy, and was always available should a problam arrise. Everything from start to finish helped to make our vacation a wonderful and unforgettable time.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband, toddler daughter and I stayed in this lovely beach rental and couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. The owner (Dawn) was so helpful in planning our trip and was easily reachable with any questions or concerns once we arrived. The house itself is so charming and cozy but still has plenty of room to spread out. My daughter LOVED the large selection of children's books and toys kept in the living room, I think that was the highlight of the trip for her. My husband and I loved the use of the cruiser bikes, the comfy living room with flat screen TV and the well-stocked kitchen. Also handy were the beach toys, chairs and towels for afternoons spent in the sand. The house is closer to the gentle bay beach, but we spent our time at the "real" beach just a block and a half away. It was less crowded than the main part of Mission Beach and perfect for relaxing. There are several decent take-out restaurants within a 2-3 minute walk of the house which was convenient for quick dinners or lunches. There is also a small market about a block away for last minute groceries. The house is literally a 5 minute drive to Sea World, which was perfect for us since we visited 3 days in a row! We had a great time and would recommend this rental to anyone looking to visit the San Diego area.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We loved it here, it was great. We had a wonderful time, totally relaxing. We went to Seaworld 3 times, the zoo 1 time and Legoland 2 times! Yikes. And...we even played in the ocean and went on a lot of walks to the beach and bay. I loved that there were life jackets, boogie boards, bikes and sand toys. And it was comfortable enough to just slouch around and watch movies! It was almost like being at our own home - but the location was much better. My eldest son said "Mom, when we go to San Diego again, can we rent this house again"? If we ever go back to San Diego - we definitely would rent this house again.Recommended for: Families with young children.

About the owner: Enjoying the patio with some friends Memorial Day weekend, 2010. We bought this house back in 1997 as we loved the time we spent prior to it living in Mission Beach (my husband is a San Diego/Mission Beach native), I am from LA. The opportunity arose to own a house at the beach, so we jumped on it. After living at our house for several years, plans changed as our family expanded so we decided to rent the house out and move to a larger house to raise our two sons, which are now 5 and 8. We love the weekends we are able to spend at the house with our boys, friends and family! We hope you enjoy your stay at our beach house as well, creating your own memories!
