Tigh na gCrann ('House of the Trees' in gaelic) is a spacious, dormer style house situated 1 mile from Ventry village. It is on an elevated, private site with a spectacular view over Ventry Harbor, Dingle Bay and Mount Eagle. The house is set in a 3 acre tree plantation and is surrounded by a mature garden enclosed by traditional stone walls with a sandstone paved BBQ area.
The house is close to the 16th century Norman castle at Rathanane. The castle is surrounded by a ringfort dating from early Christian times. Ventry has a beautiful, unspoilt, horseshoe-shaped beach. The beach is 2 miles long and has the Blue Flag award. The village has a modern pier with fishing and boat hire facilities, a pub, post office, supermarket, pottery cafe and restaurant. The famous fishing town of Dingle with its lively pubs, shops and seafood restaurants is only a 15 minute drive away. An 18 hole golf links course with stunning views of the Blasket Islands is located 3 miles away at Ceann Sibeal.
The house is tastefully decorated with antique furniture, paintings and photographs of the surrounding countryside and African artifacts. It has a mixture of wooden and quarry tiled floors throughout. The kitchen, utility room, main bathroom, sitting room, dining room and two double bedrooms (one with an ensuite bathroom) are situated downstairs. Upstairs there is a large open living area with a desk and settee. In addition, there is a bedroom with a double and single bed and a bathroom with an electric shower. |
