We were visiting from Germany and stayed 15 nights in Joan's wonderful beach house, with 3 adults and 2 kids. Overall, the stay was great. The beach house has a very personal atmosphere, when you walk in you have the feeling you are visiting a friend, instead of renting a house. The house is clean and equipped with many needful things (barbecue, beach chairs/towels, plenty of cooking material, toys, books, DVD). The location is a bit far away from Miami (4.5 hrs) drive, so flying in to Orland would be wiser. Joan was extremely helpful before and during our stay: She organized a baby crib and found a local dentist due to an dental emergency. Crescent beach has white sand, plenty of space and is just 5 min. from the house, as well as two beach restaurants. There are plenty of sights to see nearby (with 20 min. like the alligator farm, Saint Augustine downtown, lighthouse, Saint Augustine outlet mall with great brands, eg Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Nike), Orlando's Disney World and Kennedy Space Center are 2 hours away. Joan has a very pragmatic welcome guide with local stores and restaurant recommendations. Quiet neighborhood. The weather in March was between 18 to 25° C, so at night you need to take a long sleeve with you. Compared to Germany very warm but not as warm as South Florida. Perfect for small kids though. Although we were there during Spring break, Crescent Beach was very quite - no disturbance from partying people from Daytona. Would recommend this house: families (with small) kids, elderly people, anyone who enjoys quiet beach sitesDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

we had a wonderful week in Crescent Beach. The house is nice and the garden is a very good place to stay. Every day we made a long walk over the beach which is less than 5 minutes away. There was one day with a bit rain and then we went to St Augustine, the famous oldest city of the USA and rather interesting, although our own homecity in Holland much older is. Altogether we had a very good time inJoan Osgoods house.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Just wanted to say how great our week was in St Augustine. We picked this house because of location and size. It's great for access to the beach and and good size for our family. The house is very comfortable and feels like home at the end of a busy day. Joan has provided everything you need plus extras when you are traveling by plane. My family has already said they want to come back to St augustine and want to stay in Joan's house again. It's hard to get 7 people to agree on things, but they all agreed this was a great week. My family spent a wonderful, relaxing week in Joan's lovely home. It was clean, beds made, kitchen stocked with useful utensils. The washer/dryer was a nice addition. It is walking distance from the ocean and only miles from numerous attractions. The day before Christmas two neighbor children came buy bearing gifls. They were adorable. Joan was wonderful in answering my questions before rental and emailed afterward to wish us safe travels and a happy new year. Could not have asked for anyone nicer to work with. We certainly enjoyed sitting in the back yard bare foot and wearing shorts playing games on Christmas day. A real difference from MO weather at 9 degees and snow! A definate recommendation to anyone wanting to visit the St. Augustine area.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is an immaculately kept, cozy cottage in a quiet neighborhood just a 5 minute walk to the beach. Ample space, comfortable beds, clean linens, and the "extras" like boardgames, books, and dvds made this vacation home truly a delight. My family was there less than an hour when we began planning our next trip. I cannot recommend this house enough to anyone looking to get away. We can't wait to go back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our family thoroughly enjoyed this lovely Crescent Beach home! Very well maintained, incredibly clean and tastefully decorated. Located close to all the local attractions, but still private and peaceful. Joan is a wonderful hostess, and included so many niceties not usually found in rental homes. She is absolutely fabulous - even being so kind as to mail us a dvd that we had accidentally left at the house. There is not one negative thing to say about this beautiful property. We look forward to our next visit and are telling all of our friends and family about this jewel of a beach home!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We are a family of 4. We took over this generously supplied home for spring break & had a great time. Walking distance to beach & great seafood. Very clean beach but not TOO crowded (and the water a pleasant temperature. Ten minutes to historic St Augustine (we LOVED our time there!) 5 minutes south on A1A is a dolphin habitat . . . you can see them from the beach. We also had drop-in friends from Jacksonville & Ft Lauderdale. You won't have to worry about linens or laundry (she even provided our detergent - how generous! And a surf board for our novice daughter to try out). Making our plans so easy, directly with owner. So pleasant & accommodating!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This house had everything you could reasonably want from a vacation home. A quiet location but close to everything in and around St Augustine together with high quality accommodation made for a perfect holiday on Anastasia Island. Joan provides lots of thoughful little touches such as the restaurant guides, paperbacks and DVDs. We've rented lots of private houses for vacations and this is very near the top in terms of quality and value for money. Although there were only 4 of us, this house would be perfectly comfortable for 6. Highly recommended.Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This cozy home has it all! All we had to bring with us was our clothing. The owners have provided everything you need for a relaxing vacation in St. Augustine. We really didn't have time to research information on the city before we arrived. So, the tour guide pamphlets left on the kitchen counter for local attractions and restaurants were very helpful! The inside and outside of the home were neat as a pin! The beach was very well maintained(no trash)....much nicer than most FL beaches we've visited. We definitely would recommend this home to friends and relatives!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This home was perfect for our vacation. We had 7 people in our party and did not feel crowded at all. The house is extremely clean and the owner has thought of everything you might need while on vacation. We hardly had to buy anything but food. It is in a very quiet, friendly neighborhood and just a short walk from a great beach. We drove to many different beaches around St Augustine and everyone's favorite was the one right by the house. It is also only about a 15 minute drive into downtown where there are some really great shops and restauraunts. I would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing beach getaway.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Have just returned from a week in the St Augustine Beach House. Couldn't ask for better, furnishings were lovely, beds so comfortable and all in all there was nothing I could fault. Owner has provided good speedy service and been contactable at all times. There is no doubt that should we return to the area, and I really hope we will, we will be in contact and hope to rent this home again. I would most definately recommend the property to others. Regarding the area, it too is a joy, we have had day visits to St Augustine over the years but this was the first time we have stayed. As usual Harry's was great for steak and outdoor dining, and then a gentle walk by the sea to walk off those calories......do visit the coffee shop in the little courtyard where the Berkinstock shop is, great coffee!!!!! We seemed to spend an awful lot of time there!!!!! Visited Ripley's - a little disappointing to be honest. Flagler Beach was lovely - do go when the Farmers Market is on and visit the coffee shop (yes I know) that overlooks the front. It's the upstairs of a house and has a nice verandah thing!!! Oh yes and be sure to pop a drawing pin in the big map to show where you come from!!!! Enjoy!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, sightseeing.

Although the weather did not cooperate during our visit, we had no problems w/the house. Joan has thought of everything, down to a flashlight next to the back door (just in case!) We liked the "beachy" look of the place & found the location to be very convenient - about a block and a half to the beach & also close to the Intracoastal Waterway. The neighborhood was very quiet - we are hoping to stay here again - when the sun is shining!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We needed a place to stay for my son's wedding in St. Augustine and this was a perfect choice. The house is cozy, very clean and everything we needed was there. We were close enough to St. Augustine so we could be there quickly and out of town far enough to enjoy some quiet time on the beautiful beach. Our party included several childen and there were movies and games to entertain them, plus room to play. I would certainly recommend this to anyone wanting a place to stay.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

To rent the beach house for our first trip to Florida was a very good decission. The house is spacious, clean and contains everything one might need. Never had such a complete rental before. The house is not far from old St. Augustine, Jacksonville, malls and outlets (loved by my daughter and son). Even Disney World is within reach. And a beautiful white sandy beach at walking distance! Just the weather wasn't what we had expected, but about 55F with sun is good enough for sightseeing and walking the beach and was way better than the freezing cold and snow in Wisconsin, where my friends are from, and the cold and rain those two weeks here in the Netherlands. The moment one of us needed to see a doctor, Joan gave us the address of a good one and called later to find out if all had gone well. We really appreciated that. We ate in several nice restaurants, but I just remember the name of the Raintree in St. Augustine where the food was excellent. Recommend the beach house to people who want to visit this part of Florida and ask me where to stay? I sure will. Want to stay in the beach house again? Surely! Next February with warmer weather? Who knows...Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I often search for properties in our travels which advertise to be "green". We are both chemically sensitive. We usually are disappointed, as there is maybe one or two "green" aspects of the place. Not here!!! At every turn, the bed linens, the dishwashing detergent, the floor, care is taken so that there is, through and through, a green experience. For once we were not sneezing or uncomfortable in some way. As a plus, the home was very well-stocked and cozy, in a great, quiet location, but close enough to get where you needed to go. Look no more, you've found your paradise!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I wanted to find a quiet home near St Augustine and this place turned out to be just perfect. There was jut 2 of us, but it was roomy enough for 6 or even 8. The location was perfect. A nice quiet neighborhood 1.5 blocks across A1A to a beautiful beach. The place comes equipped with everything you will need for your beach time (chairs, towels, & umbrellas). A 15 minute drive from Historic St Augustine to the north, and 15 minutes to Washington Oaks State Park to the South. The very casual South Beach Cafe with great food and Tiki bar 1.5 block away, right on the beach. Also 1 block away from the Inter-coastal waterway where you can rent kayaks, arrange fishing excursions, etc. Highly recommended, very clean, quiet, & tastefully decorated.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The beach house is immaculate and very nicely decorated with all the little extras that make it very special. It is conveniently located a short walk to the beach, and is very close to restaurants and shops. The neighborhood is extremely quiet, and two blocks to the west are some lovely homes along the river which provided a scenic atmosphere for relaxing walks. When we weren't at the beach, or walking, or enjoying lunch or dinner at the South Beach Grill, we took full advantage of the back deck and the covered front porch, both nicely furnished with an abundance of seating to accomodate our family group. The beds were extremely comfortable and it was very easy to feel right at home the minute you settle in. We will definitely rent this house again, when we are in the St. Augustine area.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This was the first time we traveled on vacation with our friends and we wanted to rent a house for a few nights in St. Augustine before heading to Orlando. This house is immaculate inside. My husband is very picky and said he would love to rent the house again. There was plenty of room for 8 people (4 adults and 4 kids). The house had board games, dominos and cards to keep the kids busy. This house is very convenient to Marine Land and the St. Augustine area. We had a great time and plan to return to this house again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6
